We originally planned a camping trip, but the rain got in the way. Luckily I stumbled upon this holiday park close to where we originally planned our trip. We booked and drove down in the drizzle that day. What a fantastic place. This is how I went on holidays as a kid... well set up cabins and caravans (a bit... More

What a superb campsite in an incredibly beautiful setting. As you step in to the site all the stress of city life disappears. The campsite is very well run and is one of the best I've ever stayed in. The owners are super helpful. I even got a few tips on how to fish and managed to catch my dinner... More

Did not know what to expect, but was happily surprised. We drove here from Sydney and loved the drive so much. We took the coastal road which is amazing. Got to the property about 5pm and as we drove into the park, I saw my first kangaroo! It was very exciting. The cabin we were in was nice. Nice and... More

Such a wonderful time here with my two boys... Kangaroos galore, not to mention the parrots when you have a bit of seed in your hands!! So close to the beach and lake for swimming and fishing.... And if for some reason you need a town Batemans Bay just a short drive up the road.. Beautiful location, million dollar views,... More

This was one of the most unique and memorable accommodations I've come across. The trailer van we stayed in had so much personality it's difficult to describe but picture Christmas lights around the porch with wallabies galore when you step outside in morning and evening. Spacious feeling for suck a small space. Heat and power worked well for being on... More

By pure luck we found a folder for this camping. Located between (rain)forest and ocean its a very nice camping spot. No restaurants nearby, only local residents. Kangaroos are guaranteed and during our stay around 20 were on the campsite and you could get within 2 metres before they hopped off.

Great location, only a couple of minutes to walk to the beach, which is directly down a street across road. The beach is beautiful and quite. Kangaroos, birds and reptiles roam free for you to view and admire throughout the park The only thing I didn't like about it was that you are allocated a camp site, and unfortunately ours... More

Thanks for your review Corrine. Glad the wildlife put on a show for you. I think they enjoy all the attention as much as we enjoy their company. I think I know which site you mean. We have planted bushes all around each campsite which definitely lessens the noise between sites as well as improved privacy. During quiet times, we... More

We have just had about our 6th or 7th visit to the park over the past 10 years. A little late for a review perhaps, but this must be the best "Caravan Park" in the country! Should not say it as (it's a secret) but this place is way better than the nearby National Park campgrounds which always seem to... More

Hello Glen - it sounds like you are a Durras "Local" now with so many visits under your belt. Well done. You have covered everything on offer as far as our accommodation goes - camping, cottages and cabins. All very different of course. First, we were very upset about the other campers disturbing the "serenity" Definitely not cool and they... More

My girlfriend and I came here on our roadtrip from Melbourne to Sydney. It was just supposed to be a quick overnight stop and we were hoping for the occasional kangaroo to show up. Stayed at Durras Lake North for the first time and absolutely loved the place. We stayed in a powered site but the only power box was a few campsites away and I didn't bring a long enough extension chord. Not sure if that's the norm or not (I haven't been camping in years) but it didn't really bother us as... More

Thanks for your "real camping" review. And this is exactly what we believe we offer - a real camping, and by the sounds of it, it was what you wanted. Nothing makes us happier than reading reviews such as yours. Campers who appreciate our campground, the wildlife and the general surroundings of Durras North. The "fighting kangaroos" always crack us... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Beach, Bush, and Lake, are all just a short stroll away. The park is in sheltered bushland with the Murramarang National Park on three sides. The top of our park has nostalgic-rustic cottages (2br) and standard park cabins (1br) plus a luxury van for couples. The bushland camping ground has spacious, individually crafted sites for the biggest tents and vans; and is popular with overseas visitors looking for a real Aussie camping experience. All accommodation have a wood-fired BBQ, which doubles as an open fireplace when the lid is put up. ... Wildlife: visiting through the park are kangaroos, wallabies, possums, bandicoots, and goannas. Birds: three spectacular birds abound; green & red King Parrots, red & blue Rosellas, and multi-coloured Rainbow Lorikeets. Shore birds and majestic pelicans can be found down at the lake. Activities: birdwatching, boating, bushwalking, fishing, kayaking, sailing, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, and wading in the shallows for the little ones. ... The park has a general store with regional specialities and a cafe serving coffee from locally roasted beans. Batemans Bay is 20 minutes away for town things, including a cinema for that third rainy day. ... more   less
