The steep hill to the accomodation was no problem. The visitor rooms were nice with a verandah facing the evening sun. Nice bdrooms and lounge. Our hosts were very friendly and breakfast was good. A nice waik, even with the hill, to the local eating places. Free wifi.

We arrived at 1.30pm and we're concerned that it was early. We tried the door bell but received no response. We could see someone sitting inside so knocked on the window, only to be told off for not pressing the bell button harder! Our first impression of Helen only got worse. She was rude and condescending, explaining about car parking...

The first impression is a bit scary as the driveway is steep and narrow and parking can be a bit tricky. Our hosts showed us to our room and gave us information on the Glow Worm caves. When you get into Waitomo it gets a bit confusing with all the competition on cave visits. We had a veranda and a...

We can heartily recommend staying at The Abseil inn. Our hosts John and Helen were charming - we liked them immediately. The view from this place is wonderful, and just 2 minutes from the Waitomo caves, which was our main reason for coming to this area. The rooms are immaculate and have their own character - ( we loved our...

My husband and I stayed only one night at the Abseil Breakfast Inn... we wish it could have been longer! This is one of our favourite accommodation in New Zealand so far! Our room was beautiful, clean, homely and had a wonderful view. The communal area is comfortable and relaxing and encourages guests to mingle (only if they want). The...

We stayed for just one night in order to visit the caves. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent including many varieties of honey to taste. The hostess was most entertaining and helpful. The local cafe (suggested by our host) gave us one of the best meals we had during our trip round North Island NZ

The place was small & cramped. The bathroom was equally as small & very basic. If you are looking for a no frills place to lay your head it is fine. The area is very rural so maybe it is all that Waitanomo has to offer in lodging but we weren't impressed. The soap & shampoo are over the counter,...

Thank you for you nice comments. I must admit I am easily distracted, as I do enjoy meeting new guests. Occassionally, when guests check in early and the weather has been wet, the room may not be finished at the time of arrival. If, due to distraction, towels are then not subsequently supplied a quick query to either me or...

I called and spoke with John to request a room. Fodor's recommended this B and B so I was excited about the stay. Somehow there was confusion about our family party of 4. John assumed we were 4 adults, even after I asked for a room to sleep us together as a family. He said we needed 2 rooms. I...

Unfortunately the phone call to reserve the room kept on cutting out so that it was not clear that the booking was for a family of young children and not two couples. When they arrived after 8.30 pm and this became known, we immediately arranged for them to stay at the Waitomo Caves B&B Lodge which does have family accommodation....
