Second trip to Al Maha in December 2019. First one was back in June of this year. It seems difficult to use words to describe the experience. To summarize: - Gorgeous villas - total privacy and seclusion (the only neighbors you'll see are gazelles and Arabian Oryx), traditional bedouin style, lovely private pool - Top-notch service - all needs are met at all time (from increasing the temperature of the private pool late evening, to last minute changes for the activities). The staff treats you like royalty from the moment you enter the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve where the resort is located. - Amazing food - everything was delicious, especially the Argentinian steak and lobster raviolis Irfan, Mansour, Prakash and the whole team, thank you! Looking forward to planning a third trip.

1 room 3 days 4 activities 6 meals. No other word, everything is awesome. Service: We arrived on a rainy day. It’s rarely to see heavy rain in desert. When we check out , the manager on duty told us the car is dirty and they just washed the car. Thanks for the whole team.

This is a great hotel if you want to relax. It is on a nature preserve about 45 minutes outside the city so there is nothing close by. The staff is the best I have ever seen at a hotel and the service is second to none. They offer activities throughout the day if you do not want to lounge by the pool and relax. We stayed for 5 nights and did the sunset camel rides every night. Archery and falconry were also fun. Already looking forward to our next trip back to this hotel.

My husband and I went for a lovely weekend away. The food was good but expensive in the restaurant. We went on the camel ride and sunset 4x4 ride. The villa and pool were very relaxing and I would recommend for a romantic weekend away.

There is so much to review about this place. We loved it so much we wished we can do at least another 2 nights, but 2 nights was in the plan and we continued on our journey here in Abu Dhabi then to Dubai. First of all, finding the place was a little complicated. The country’s GPS system took us in circles on our cell phones until we figured it out. No large signs that direct you to the property off the highway. After making it to the main gate where a security guard checks you in, a long, slow, approx 7 mile drive into the desert awaits you. Here you see desert dunes, free roaming Onyx, a.k.a. Al Maha, gazelles, wild birds, and desert rabbits. After stopping and taking photos of the wildlife, we finally made it to the reception area where our welcoming staff took charge. Here we met MANSOUR who graciously welcomed us and did all the paperwork and gave us the key to our suite. VIRAG took all our luggage and gave us a ride in his buggy to our suite. It is basically a nice sized golf cart!!! Our suite which was #35 all the way at the end of the property was well beyond the reception area. Private, no close neighbors, exclusive spot, nice coverage of trees and bushes, make this a good suite. It was also covered with a sun tarp that kept the desert sun off the roof. It is walkable in which we did the following days and nights to the main clubhouse. Along the way on the brick covered walkway was Onyx, and gazelle fawns with bucks and does, grouse, pigeons and birds. All were grazing and bedded down and didn’t mind seeing first timers like us looking at them, in a surprised state of shock!!! Our suite, was well equipped with a large living room, comfy king sized bed, large double sink bathroom, tub and a separate toilet. Our bed over looks our own private, mini infinity, warm water pool that over looks the deep valley into a watering hole for the wild animals. There were baby gazelles that walk around our pool and once in a while they would walk on the wooden deck and they would realize that the wooden deck is too slippery for their hoofs. The deck also had two comfy thick lounge chairs where we laid out during the day for that full body desert tan!!! Privacy is key!!! We met up in the lobby at 4:30 pm and we were ready for our evening’s activities. We were assigned to KEVIN, who was from Nairobi, Kenya and all the guests were there for our camel ride to the desert. After a small briefing, we went out to the field where we met our Camels and our Camel Farmers TAHIR and FAHAD. It was fun getting on the seated camel, who was named SHAMIR, who was 20 years old and once we were on his back, they got up and we were up and ready to march out to the desert to see the sunset. Everyone had a great big smile on their faces anticipating a ride of their lives. After an exciting ride out, wild game adorn the sand dunes, we saw a spectacular desert sunset and rode back in the dusk back to the reception area for dinner. The next morning, we were with Kevin again but this time we went for our Dune Bashing ride. It was early at 8:00am, it has to be before breakfast, it was only the three of us, in a comfortable late model Toyota Landcruiser. He took us out with three other vehicles that followed and we went into another state, forgot the name, thru a locked borderline fence, patrolled by a guard, and we tore it up on the dunes. Sand spitting in the air, deep inclines, up hills of desert sand. A lot of fun, 4 wheel drive at its best, seat belts a must. We did stop at one of the highest peaks and it was a sight to be seen!!! Photos galore on top with breathtaking scenery!!! The next night Kevin drove us out to the champagne sunset with other guests on a high dune peak where we sipped on the bubbly and watched the bright orange sun set in the distance. We dined at the only restaurant on the property called AL DIWAAN and had a large menu to choose from. All of the dishes were very good, tasty, flavorful, and the menu is All kinds of Arabian, Moroccan, Middle East flavors... really good!!! We ate here for breakfast everyday which was a buffet and you can order off the menu and for dinner it’s your choice of inside or outside seating. Great service by the following staff members who all deserve a shout out... ERIK ... wine server ROCHAR ... waiter SURAZE ... waiter ELVIS ... waiter KEIRAN ... waiter Sorry if I missed a few named employees, ...They all do greet you by name after you give them your suite number. They look up your registered names and say hello. Nice touch!!! We did order room service after opting out for lunch one day at the clubhouse. Room service was great!!! Operator on phone took the order of chicken and artichoke thin crust pizza, chicken club with fries on the side and two sodas and we were set. It was really good!!! Hot and tasty and hitting the spot and he stated that 45 minutes the food will be there and the food was delivered by RAFIQUE and RAM in 40 minutes!!! Awesome didn’t have to leave our suite we ate inside and back to our pool!!! At night we had a great turn down service. Great work by RAMAN and JUGADISH who took care of our entire suite when we were out for dinner. At the small lobby bar where we had cocktails before dinner was YOGI the bartender and SAROJ who waited on us. Cheers!!! Overall, sorry for the long post, when a great location with great amenities, great caring staff, supreme service is noted, it has to be written up and reviewed in a five star manner for all!!! Make sure you have bright, serviceable flashlights. We did... The walkway is dark, with the wild game crossing the walkway in front of you. We felt safe every day and night. Night swimming at our pool is a must!!! Plenty of flies during this cooler season when we were there last week. I wished we had some sticky fly tape. The temperature goes down to the mid to high 60’s at night and during the days is low 80’s with no humidity... don’t forget, we’re in the desert!!! Enjoy!!! We sure did!!! Miss it already!!!

I tried to put the Al Maha e mail address on my reply to you but it would not post until I removed it as it does not allow email addresses to be included in their posting guidelines. I would suggest you go on the al Maha web site and look for the contact information.

It is best to book directly through the hotel as it is fairly remote. Many taxi companies and private transfers have difficulty finding the property even with GPS. It is only slightly more expensive to use the hotel’s service.
