Ian & Margaret from Scotland run this lovely Guest House with super pool up in the hills above Fish Hoek. Superb views at breakfast down the valley to the Beach and Chapman's Peak and the Mountains as well. Delicious breakfast and nothing was too much trouble for Ian & Margaret. Even having to uncover the pool when required as there...

Thank you so much for your kind comments. Also a big thanks to you, and all our other guests over the past few months who have responded admirably to our plea to help us save water. Our usage over this period has been reduced markedly compared to previous years.

We stayed here for four nights at the start of our annual three week vacation in SA. From the moment we arrived Ian and Margaret made us very welcome. Beautiful rooms with very high standard en suites, lovely cooked breakfast with wonderful views across the valley to the beach, a lovely large garden full of birds and an excellent pool....

In addition to running a b&b, the owners make a self-catering cottage available in their garden, which is called "the Nest." At about US$60, we found this unit to offer excellent value. The location has spectacular mountain views and is very convenient for the lower Cape peninsula (and not all that far from Cape Town itself). The only downside to...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The ‘Nest’ is our single most occupied room, partly as it is our cheapest but also probably as it is privately situated, has an appealing log cabin appearance, and has great views. The cooker is of the ‘table top’ style and has 2 rings and a grill/oven, we agree that...

I stayed at Makapa Lodge in February as a solo traveler & loved every moment of my stay. Ian & Margaret are very welcoming & attentive to every need; the view from the upper deck & breakfast room down to Noordhoek Beach & Chapman's Peak is stunning; the breakfast is freshly prepared & delicious; all 5 rooms/suites are very comfortable,...

Very enjoyable stay at Makapa . Margaret and Ian were very welcoming hosts who helped us enormously with planning day trips. The weather while we were there was quite windy and this made birdwatching in the garden very difficult but otherwise excellent location for getting to all the sites in and around the Cape. Good value , comfortable accomodation with...

If you want a B&B that's off the beaten track and gives a real feel for being in Africa (rather than stuck in the middle of a town) you couldn't do better than Makapa. We spent a very happy 10 days there, and will definitely go back if we return to the Cape. Top of the list is the friendliness...

The location is lovely. The breakfasts are good. The room is fabulous. The bed is splendid The bathroom is lovely. The Wifi is dismal (but was almost dismal in other places we stayed, so won't blame them for this). The only criticism is that "Mrs Makapa" can talk. A lot. I am a morning person, but found breakfast a struggle...

We just had an amazing 6 days in the self catering "Nest" room of Makapa Lodge. Everything was very clean, the bed was very confortable, the kitchen was extremely useful to save money on food and the view was amazing. For a couple, it was always very nice to have your own independent house with a safe parking spot (there...

We were looking for accommodations near Simon's Town that offered opportunities for a little garden birding. Makapa Lodge provided excellent accommodations, great food, friendly hosts and a fabulous garden for birding. We stayed for three days and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The rooms were spacious, clean, nicely decorated and had lovely bathrooms. It was nice to come back after a...

Our stay at makapa has been amazing! In the "Nest" self catering cabin. Comfy and cosy. The hosts Ian and Margaret are so warm and welcoming. Absolutely love it here. The view is spectacular. Nature all around! Sun set to sun rise. You won't be disappointed!
