We stayed in the new wing. The room was terrific with everything we could have wanted. The outside deck looking over the garden was great. The gardens are beautifully kept and a picture. The owners, Pam and Ant, are very visible and Pam is an encyclopaedia of places to visit in the area. Don't miss the Montagu Nature Garden. The...

The attention to detail at Montague Vines is second to none. The owners Pam and Ant are such charming and helpful hosts. The accomodation offers everything anyone could wish for including a welcome glass of wine, plentiful tea and coffee and even a sweetie on the bedside table. This was our second visit to this beautiful guest house and yet again we were sorry to leave. Spacious and well appointed rooms with beautiful views across the lovely gardens to the mountains beyond. Ideally placed for walking into Montagu for dinner, fabulous breakfasts and warm hospitality

Many thanks for the wonderful one night stay...it wasnt long enough. Rooms with the views were perfect, watching the birdlife and finding the tortoises were added bonus. An oasis that we would return to. Also had the opportunity to understand more about South Africa from our hosts.

We booked via Audley Travel and looking back, its a pity we only stayed here for one night. This was probably the best bed and breakfast we stayed in our whole trip. Room and bathroom was large and luxurious with everything you would need. Pam & Ant extremely welcoming. we felt at home immediately. Breakfast was made to order and...

Location, environment, facilities, quality, service, and overall ambience of a high order. Compared to similarly advertised accommodation that we have stayed at in the Western Cape Montagu Vines offers excellent value for money but more importantly a 'feel good' factor that is difficult to quantify.

Montagu Vines is situated in the most perfect setting with stunning views from every room. Pam and Ant are the most gracious hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are made to order and everything is presented beautifully. All linens and towels are first class quality and the toiletries are to die for.

Little to add to the many excellent and totally valid reviews of this establishment. Wonderful setting in peaceful surroundings with great views and well manicured gardens and olive grove. Superbly equipped rooms with high quality fittings, spotlessly clean and beautifully presented of course. Owners and all staff most friendly and helpful. We only booked one night on this occasion but...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Montagu Vines is situated in the historic conservation area of Montagu. The main farmhouse was built between 1900 and 1910 and reflects the early Victorian influenced Karoo style farmhouse of that period. The 6 Garden rooms and 2 courtyard rooms overlook the newly planted Olive Grove and compliment the stately main house. Following the damage to the vines from the floods of November 2008 the vineyard was removed in 2010 and replanted with an olive grove. We offer our guests a taste of old- fashioned comfort and luxury in the town of Montagu on the world famous "Route 62". You can relax in the splash pool set in the tranquil gardens with magnificent old oak and milkwood trees. Alternatively, you could lounge on the lawns enjoying the glorious views of the surrounding mountains whilst sipping a glass of local wine. Montagu Vines Guesthouse is just a stroll away from the centre of Montagu with its amenities that cater for all tastes and interests. There are restaurants, bistros, historic churches and tranquil gardens for the visitor to enjoy. Montagu Vines guesthouse is the perfect place for those intimate weekends, birthdays, and anniversaries or as a stopover whilst discovering "Route 62" and all it has to offer. You may be lucky and see the "resident" owls perched in the old oak tree or meet one of the big tortoises in the olive grove or surrounding areas that visit from the adjacent nature reserve. ... more   less
