John and Joy are great hosts who make you feel welcome to their historic house. We were fortunate to have the room previously used by President Mandela which was very comfortable. Dinner was taken at a pleasant Restaurant close to Kingna Lodge which was of good standard and convenient. The chosen Breakfast of scrambled eggs at Kingna was enjoyed and...

Nothing was to much trouble for our hosts John and Joy. Their amazing Victorian house is maintained to a high standard. Pretty English style cottage garden at the front of the house and a secluded pool and patio area with plenty of seating delayed our departure after one night. Beautiful bedrooms but our booking site didn't offer us one of...

True Victorian in the Little Karoo. In great condition, with a unique array of highly interesting collectibles. John, one of the hosts, can provide fascinating history. He is generally very personable and happily gave me several well informed suggestions of places to visit

As other reviewers have said the outstanding features here are the history (one of our group was given the room used by Nelson Mandela) and hospitality of the hosts who are very...

We stayed for two nights in february and had a lovely time. Both John and Joy are very helpful. We had some nice conversations with them and John told us a lot of the history of South Africa. The house is beautiful and has a history of it's own.

We arrived at the gate of the hotel with no reservation but the owner, John, welcomed us warmly and served us gin and tonics on the verandah! Very civilized, we thought. We had a wonderful stay there - the rooms are beautifully furnished, the beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are all they should be. Much thought has gone in...

Great place to stay. Very friendly and helpful owners. John and Joy. Just loved sitting on the veranda looking out at the mountains drinking pink gins that John so nicely prepared for us, hearing all about the local bird population! Really nice breakfast, so nicely presented and served. Joy's artistry for sure. Wifi good. Worth a visit if your near...

Amazing personal service in this small yet amazing Lodge. Extremely friendly staff, great breakfast until late, very central and extremely comfortable rooms (only the shower could be improved a bit). Nelson Mandela once stayed there!
