My husband and I, our daughter, based in Paris and her French fiance stayed at the Malherbe guesthouse for one night in December as part of a road trip through the Karoo. We all loved the guesthouse and were sorry we had not planned a longer stay. It is a perfect place to stay in lovely charming Montagu, where there... More

We have enjoyed our stay with lovely hosts. The breakfast is very well presented and tastful. The garden is lovely and has a great swimming pool. Our garden room is beautiful furnished in a modern style. The shower is amazing!. But most of all we were impressed by our hosts who make you feel at home.

Stayed here for just one night in February. The rooms are really chalets in the back garden. Large room with all amenities and good size bathroom. The garden is very pretty with lots of plants. Breakfast was outstanding. One night in Montagu was enough because it wasn't very interesting. We had booked Jessica's restaurant but it was the worse meal... More

We stayed for 3 nights in the main house and were thoroughly spoilt by Micky and Joop.As it was hot, cool bedroom was very appreciated ,as was the garden with the pool. We are back in UK and dream of those fabulous breakfasts under pergola, we miss Micky and Joop's generosity.Long may they continue, we hope to go back one... More

We didn't realise Malherbe was right on the main R62 road and our hearts sank a little as we approached the lovely Cape Dutch house as we watched the traffic zipping by. We needn't have worried. Joop, the pleasant Dutch owner, met us with the offer of a glass of the local wine, and showed us to our room through... More

This was our second stay at this guesthouse. It's great - comfortable, good facilities, great breakfast, charming hosts and a good location to explore the wine route and small towns of route60 and 62. We enjoy walking and it is easy to find stunning walks from the Malherbe. We walked badkloof which was only 4 miles in total but the... More

Micky and Joop have created a guest house with a very special atmosphere. We stayed in a bedroom in the main house, at the back, which had history and charm, a large bathroom, but most importantly it was dark, quiet and extremely comfortable. I had a great night's sleep. In the morning we were served a wonderful breakfast under the... More

Malherbe Guest House is definitely recommended. Lodging is provided in small housing units spread out over the premises. Good beds, large rooms with all amenities you'd expect, beautiful and very spacious bathroom. The swimming pool was a welcome refreshment. The Dutch hosts were helpful with dinner suggestions (do not hesitate and go to Four Oaks, a 5 minute walk from... More

We stayed on night - only. The rooms are actually more bungalow style. Everyone got his own entrance through the lovely garden. Breakfast in the garden must be nice. When we stayed it was still to cold but sunshine. The hosts take excellent care of their guest. Only drawback: It is located on the main road and one might hear... More
