My friends and I completely enjoyed our stay here. As you go through the village of Hopkins, you'll continue on to a dirt road and begin to wonder if you missed it. But trust me, the dirt road becomes very familiar after a couple of trips to town. Sarkiki is almost at the end of the road. Our villa was comfortable and had almost everything we needed. Epi and Manuel answered our questions and helped us with anything we needed. Several units are being renovated, but it will not disturb your peace and quiet. An additional plus: the restaurant next door is where the Americans who have moved to Hopkins hang out.

I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sarkiki. Epi and Manuel were two of the nicest and most helpful people you could ever ask for! Every question was answered, and all our needs were taken care of. The unit was very clean and relatively comfortable. I’d have loved a little more “creature comfort” in the living area: comfy seating for 4 would have been fantastic. I think outfitting the bar with 4 stools and having some comfy padded chairs in the living area (rather than a dining table) would have made lots of sense. The pool was absolutely wonderful; could have used a little more cleaning (tiles and “swim up bar”), but it was great. The beach was okay - hammock was very comfy! A gentleman raked the beach daily, but there was a lot of plastic waste brought ashore (NOTE that this is NOT a complaint about Sarkiki; it was everywhere along the coast). There is renovation work going on at the resort, and that’s great. The area where pool floats were stored was full of drywall dust, so the floats were pretty icky; we didn’t ask for them to be cleaned, though. The road to Sarkiki from Hopkins is several miles of rough dirt and rock. It took a bit of patience, but became part of the adventure!

Wow, this was really a great find! The setting was stunning, the accommodations were very comfortable, and the owners and staff were exceeding friendly and helpful. It also had a lovely pool and the beach was incredible. These lovely villas are just outside of "downtown" Hopkins, which is an easy bike ride away (they had bikes to borrow). Larger shopping trips will require a car (we rented from Hopkins Auto Rental--a very honest family run business with good cars to rent). There are also several great restaurants in the area (we loved The Fat Mermaid for lunch--awesome fish tacos!), and the marina is nearby as well (where many tours originate). I also want to give a shout out to Seemore Dives in Hopkins...a highly professional, locally owned dive shop with PADI certified dive masters.

We stayed at Linda's property for ten days, and loved every minute. During our time in Hopkins and exploring Belize more broadly, we couldn't identify a single other place where we'd have rather stayed. We really appreciated that Sarkiki felt less "resorty" and more down-to-earth (in a good way) than some of the places in the area. The apartment offered plenty of space for three people (one couple and one solo), and definitely could have handled more. The site is gorgeous: pristine beach, lovely landscaping, refreshing pools... We often had morning coffee and dinner out on the balcony, enjoying the beautiful sunrises and starfilled skies. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and Linda and Mike offer great recommendations on things to do in the area. The spot is a little south of Hopkins, which we preferred to being in the thick of the touristy areas. We rented a car from Hopkins Auto Rental (they are great!), which made it easy to get into "downtown" Hopkins and to explore the rest of the region. The dirt road is a little bumpy, but we actually liked that--it forced us to slow down a little and focus on our surroundings, and allowed us to wave at everyone we passed, which is a delightful norm in Hopkins! From Sarkiki, we very easily did the following activities, among others: four days of diving with Seemore in Hopkins, ziplining and waterfall rappelling at Bocawina National Park 40 minutes away, a waterfall hike in Cockscomb Preserve, and a guided tour of Xunantunich Mayan ruins. Thank you, Linda and Mike, for a wonderful and memorable stay!

We arrived late afternoon on December 22nd. We were greeted by the owners, Linda & Mike, along with a couple of their staff who were very helpful in getting our belongings to our villa. The check in process was very easy and casual. During our stay, the owners came by each day to make sure everything was meeting our expectations and were more than gracious to make sure we had everything we needed. Every morning , if we requested a fresh coconut, we each had one ready to go on our porch table. After drinking the fresh water, staff will crack it open so we could enjoy the fresh coconut "meat". One of the staff is a tour guide on his days off. We hired him to escort us to see Mayan Ruins and for a jungle hike / tour. It was spectacular! The Restaurant next door, Mango's, was a great place to grab a cocktail and a bite to eat. We also ate a a couple different restaurants in Hopkins and near the resort. All very good. On the way back from our Jungle hike/tour, we stopped for lunch at Shena's Bistro, a little place along the highway that was, well, let's just say it was a place with local feel. The food, fantastic, the owner was great and very friendly. Some really good home style cooking. It was a great trip which we will do again. The only down side was the sand fleas. They are vicious and I was chewed on pretty good, no fault of the resort or anyone else. It's just the way it is. If you don't take the necessary precautions, you will get eaten alive as I did because I did not follow instructions, Hmmm...imagine taking ownership for an unpleasant situation. All in, I would recommend Sarkiki Villas as a destination for a very quiet and relaxing vacation. A place where you have the opportunity to interact with the owners and staff one on one. Awesome! Thank you Linda, Mike, Manuel & Epi.

I wish I could give this place a higher rating but I just can't. First The GOOD: the pool that we had all to ourselves as we were the only guests in this place for our entire week. The other wading pools were working although we didn't use them. The swim up bar areas are an such a huge waste of space......just a place for a light really, The ocean is right there...just a few steps away.....and it is a nice shallow walk out for a long ways and we had a few glassy mornings to enjoy floating in the bathtub warm water. Epi and the staff were attentive and tried to accommodate and resolve any issues we had but even he couldn't do anything about the neighbors who thought it was ok to use the little strip of lawn between the pool and beach for their dog to do it's business!! Twice! We did Email management immediately but still unacceptable. The BAD. This place has so much potential.....but it needs serious updating....the pool edges are grimy and need cleaning...We found the skimmer the first couple mornings so we could swim comfortably. There is white paint chips all over the upper deck floors and the top deck (unit 11) has NO furniture at all so useless space....I'm not hauling chairs up a flight of stairs to use a deck. There were 4 of us and only 5 lounge chairs by the pool.....then one broke. So glad it was just us. ThE hammock on the Beach hasn't been usable in ages I'm sure....and you couldn't lay in it anyway or you'd be eaten alive by sand flies. The dormitory feeling inside the units is just sad. Bare almost all white walls with a few accent colored ones.....not a speck of decor elements anywhere except by the kitchen table....the cheapest furniture inside the unit and out on the decks. No salt or pepper or anything but the necessary kitchen dishes. Not even a paper and pen. Thankfully the beds were comfortable enough but the two bedroom unit doesn't have a true master bedroom. The bathrooms are off the hallways. The teeny tv is on the kitchen counter. There were no fancy towel designs even upon arrival and no bedspread.....just sheets and a fleece blanket that was shedding like crazy., we did have clean towels (not Bathsheets but small towels) and large beach towels and they cleaned our suite half way through the week. I believe the staff and caretaker tries but there needs to be serious Influx of capital and attention to detail to improve this place and get it up to the standards of the price they are charging. It's not economical. We've stayed at a lot of condo type units and this was the most disappointing and we sure wish we had not only used the vrbo reviews prior to booking but checked on TA as well. The drive into Hopkins is rough and far too long and dusty for a golf cart or to walk....you will need a car and lots of patience . Mangos bar and restaurant next door was good and convenient and we ate there a few times for lunch and supper. I would look elsewhere if I were searching for a place in Hopkins. And pack your baby oil, bug spray and antihistamine.

This was the second time staying at this property. Last year we went as a couple and loved it so much we went back again and took our adult sons with us. The villa was big enough that everyone had their own space, and the views were breathtaking. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach that made accessing the water a little difficult, but the staff did their best to keep the beach as clean as possible. That wasn't anything they could prevent. Other than that minor detail, the property was perfect for our family! We all enjoyed the pool and the closeness to Mango's next door. Our villa was clean and if there was anything we needed, the staff was more than happy to help us. Epi and Manuel helped with arranging outings for us and even helped us track down our son's missing luggage. They are as friendly as can be and go out of their way to make your trip enjoyable. We also like that the property is at the far end of Hopkins where it is much quieter and peaceful. We highly recommend Sarkiki and would not hesitate to stay there again when we go back to Belize.

We had a great time in the Hopkins area. Very hospitable people and lots of wonderful food. However the Airbnb villas called Sarkiki fell far from our expectations. The Airbnb advertisement did not explain that there are 2 flights of stairs to reach the master bedroom. A big problem for our group. We were never told this until we arrived. The entire unit we stayed in needs serious updating. The most terrible thing to deal with was the bedding. The mattresses were 3 inch pads on wooden slats. We could feel each and everyone. The so called mattresses were really some sort of cot padding. Our TV only worked 2 1/2 days of our 7 day vacation. Other people in the villas had no problem. The fridge didn't work. We were very busy for the first 3 days when we arrived so when it was discovered we lost most of the items we had purchased. There was mold in our shower simply being painted over. A kitchen chair broke from under my husband as he sat at breakfast. This is a three bedroom unit possibly 6 people staying yet the kitchen has supplied for 3 or 4. No daily supplies provided such as salt and pepper. It's very far to the downtown Hopkins area. However the villa owner has you believe it's a mile or so. The road to the villas is in total disrepair and seems to be this way most of the time per the locals. Hopkins was an enjoyable area but I would suggest you find a different place to stay.

What a wonderful trip! A beautiful beach and wonderful staff. Epi, the property manager went out of his way to teach us about Belize and the Mayan Culture. Spent our days learning how to make cocoa and chocolate at the Mayan Cultural center, zip lining through the rain forest and exploring ancient Mayan ruins. Private beach right out our front door, warm water and crystal clear water. Made friends with a beautiful lime green iguana who greeted us in the morning. Bioluminescent tour with crocodile spotting at sunset is a must. Sarkiki is a gem not to be missed.
