It felt like we were staying in a tropical paradise. I get the feeling the owners are meticulous people as the property is plush, vibrant and very well maintained, the food the Chef puts out is 5 star quality, and the serving staff were kind and pleasant. We had the chance to meet and have dinner with the owners, Don and Stasha, and yes just talking with them confirms why this property is so beautiful. And there is no better way to wake up in the morning than to the sounds of hundreds of bird species and the Howler monkeys.

There are so many on and off site activities. George was our off-site tour guide on 3 different days. We toured 3 Mayan ruin sites and did some cave tubing along with the Belize Zoo. We also toured the Belize Spice Farm (very impressive, a must see) and not to mention the "world famous" Marie Sharp's Hot Sauce Factory. While on-site, Roberto and Roni took my husband on a trek up 1000ft to Antelope Falls to rappel down, then they took both of us zip lining through the jungle on 9 different runs (this is Belize's longest zip line).

The last comment I need to add is "Ken", the happy smiling face we saw at check-in and many days there after. He was the one who made our daily adventures happen without a hiccup. He was on top of everything. Thank you Bocawina for making us feel like your family. We will return soon.

Highly recommend it for anyone who wants to experience the rainforest without roughing it too much. We stayed one night in a Mayan room, which was the least expensive, after which they gave us a free upgrade to the Bungalow Nest for our last two nights. The Mayan room was comfortable enough, with some odd steps in the bathroom. The Bungalow room was more spacious and had a private porch with a nice view of the mountains. There is no A/C but plenty of fans.

There are lots of trails nearby; we did the Antelope Falls and Bocawina Falls trails. Both waterfalls are worth the walk, which isn't that strenuous. (We did not climb to the top of Antelope Falls.) The resort has a nice policy of having you sign in and out of hikes in case anyone gets lost.

We did a guided hike with Roberto who was great, very knowledgeable and personable. Also birdwatching with Tony, who shared with us a great app for birding. We ate all our meals at the onsite restaurant Wild Fig. I reviewed it separately but it's fabulous!

They aren't kidding about the bugs. I got several botlass fly bites on my feet just walking to breakfast in flipflops. Use the deet spray! They sell it and it's worth it.

The staff and the owners are very friendly, helpful, and just plain great. Very homey and welcoming. Thanks Ken for identifying the bites and for all the work organizing our activities and transportation and everything! It was a lovely stay.

My wife and I spent 4 days on a rustic caye and were ready to be spoiled by the Bocawina accommodations. The "Howler Monkey" cabana was beautiful and clean but because the entire room and porch were screened in, we felt connected to nature and enjoyed the noises of the animals at night. The staff pampered us making driving arrangements to and from the resort. The trails from the lodge are adventurous and beautiful. Saw a very large boa constrictor off the side of the trail!

We recently left our two night stay at Bocawina and couldn’t be happier with our experience. From the moment we landed in Daringa, the service was five-star quality. Since Tropic Air put us on an earlier flight, Bocawina was flexible to pick us up an hour early. Every member of the staff, beginning with the manager (forgot his name) went the extra mile to help. One night in the pouring rain we rain from our room (Gladiola) to the restaurant. Our server noticed and had umbrellas delivered to the room.

We did the repel and zipline tour on-site. Our guides were professional and dedicated to the group's safety. One piece that stood out to me was that the guide gave individual instructions for braking to each person, which was extremely helpful and reassuring. They took good care of my six year-old son, especially during the reeling, since he was a little awkward and nervous. If there was an option for more than five stars for service, this would be awarded. Highly recommend!

It was pretty amazing to get to stay in a resort that was in the middle of a national rainforest! The grounds were gorgeous and well kept and it was so fun to hear the birds and Howler Monkeys outside our window.
The staff was so welcoming and helpful. Jasmine in the restaurant was very cheerful and friendly. Christy was very helpful with hooking us up with a guide for a last-minute trip. Peo did a great job helping us get settled in.
The activities were perfect! We did the zip lining (with Sandy and Tony) which was a bit of an adrenaline rush, bird watching (with Tony) which was a great way to experience the jungle, and a tour of the Mayan Ruins (with Roni) which was an excellent way to experience Belize both past and present.
Highly recommend this place!

Our receptionist was extremely helpful, much more than we have experienced at other locations. We were upgraded to a cabin closer to the dining hall at no extra charge. He found a small table and brought it to our room to support my use of my laptop computer. The resort supports numerous trails to waterfalls and zip lines for more strenuous adventurers but we did not choose to do so. Instead we walked around fields and forest areas near the headquarters for a very restful relaxed time while photographing the birds, flowers, and small animals. They are extremely eager to address the needs and interests of us visitors, making us feel very welcome there.

A nice spacious, well groomed natural area within the Mayflower national park. (Bocawina was there before the area became a national park.) My cabin was comfortable and had a toilet and shower, which required a step to get to either. We had several fans to cool ourselves.

One night I could hear the howler monkeys roaring in the distance. The environment was lovely and we did birding on our own and with a guide. The food was varied and home made, mildly spiced which I prefer. Our guide took us out for walking trips to see a waterfall and a demonstration on chocolate making with the actual farmer to see the trees that held the cocoa plants. One outing included visiting the beach which has a drinks cabana where I had coconut water from a fresh coconut that was cracked in front of me! I ate some of the coconut flesh and gave the rest to my guide, Ken, who was so pleasant and affable. Since I didn't bring water shoes he walked with me to a store to purchase some. This gave me an excuse to walk through the shopping area of the town. The Chinese own and run the biggest store where I was saddened to see the low quality and high cost of the items for the Belizeans. I would definitely return and recommend Bocawina Resort as the staff were also friendly and helpful.

My husband and I spent three nights at Bocawina Rainforest Resort and it is a very special place! It is beautiful with lots of outdoor activities. We hiked and ziplined and had a wonderful time. The staff is amazing and they will do anything they can to make sure you have a wonderful experience. Very good food at Wild Fig and sometimes a few off-menu specials.

It was extremely hot and humid when we were there and we had trouble acclimating. There are ceiling fans and stand fans in the rooms, but it was hard to sleep. No one's fault at all, just something to be aware of if you get cranky when you're hot.

The guided hike to Antelope Lake and the waterfall rappel down were difficult, but lovely. Victor was one of our guides and he took extra care with me because I am very afraid of heights. I felt very safe and the equipment is in excellent condition. We also ziplined, which was fun and beautiful.

We combined this with a trip to Tobacco Caye (all booked through Island Expeditions) and it's a great combo trip to see very different parts of the country.

We stayed 5 nights. The lodge is inside Mayflower Bocawina National Park. The property has a wide range of accommodations, from basic (Mayan Rooms) to luxury. The grounds are gorgeous and birding around the lodge was some of the best we have encountered in Central America. There are numerous trailheads to waterfalls and other sites within a short walk from the property. Our thanks to our innkeepers-Don and Natasha for an enjoyable stay. (And you too Ken!)

The staff at the Bocawina resort was extremely friendly and helpfull. As the WiFi was down due the recent hurricane Lisa they took care of our transportation and made reservations for us to fly to Belize city. Food was also very tasty! Definitely try the Antelope trail while you're here and the mountainbikes.

What the best why to get there from City & what can I expect to pay round trip?
Answer from Brendan G
Hello Cathi, There are a few options for travelling to our resort from Belize City. The quickest way is to take a 15 minute domestic flight from Belize City to a town called Dangriga, where we can pick you up and drive 20 minutes back to the resort. Another option is we can send a shuttle to pick you up in Belize City and drive 3.5 hours back to the resort. The costs are: 1. Flights $90 US per person one way, or $160 return plus $50 one way or $90 return for the shuttle from Dangriga. 2. Shuttle from Belize City $200 US one way or $380 return (note: this cost is for the shuttle, not per person) If you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me at 1 844 894 2311 All the best, Brendan Gordon Sales & Reservations Manager Bocawina Rainforest Resort & Adventures
