We stayed here overnight after deciding that the B&B accommodations we had originally reserved in Lovech were completely unsuitable.

I have to agree with the other reviewers that the hotel is in dire need of refurbishing. The lobby is very large, but dimly lit. The people we dealt with at reception were very pleasant and helpful.

We were travelling with a couple of friends, so took two rooms. The only one available with a refrigerator, which we needed, had what I would call a 3/4 bed -- bigger than a twin-sized, but smaller than a double. Luckily, coffeemaven and I like each other. This room had an air-conditioner/heater. The second room had two beds, but no fridge and no heater. There is central heating in all the rooms, but it doesn't get turned on until Nov. 1, no matter what the outside temperature is. When we were there, heat was definitely needed. Both rooms were quite small, with very small television sets, a radio, small closet, small desk, stool and armchair.

Tiny bed pillows were provided and the bed was hard at the edges and sagging in the middle.

Our poorly lit bathroom was also very small. The tub had a piece gouged out of the outside. The shower curtain ran half the width of the tub and ended a good six inches above its top. There was a space between the tub and the adjacent wall, so when you showered water collected there, as well as on the bathroom floor. There was no tub mat and the towels were small and hard. The sink had several what appeared to be burn marks on the inside and outside.

Prices are low, but you get what you pay for, I guess. I don't know how this hotel ever got a three-star rating.

I think that the only plus of this hotel was localisation in the center of the city and nice panorama from the balkony in the restaurant. Not bad as for a balkan's standard. Like in the old times during communism. Everything old. Bed not really comfortable but clean in the room and bathroom. Breakfast was really poor, not big choice and coffee ... instant:( In the bar you need to have cash they will not include your bill to the invoice after you will check out from the hotel.

The exterior of the hotel raises one’s expectations.
The Soviet style lobby immediately lowers them.
On entering the room one’s hopes are raised again.

Room 420 was spacious, generally ok but with serious deficiencies in the telephone and TV electrical wiring. In addition the bathroom washbasin was covered with cigarette burns - see three of the photos.

Bathroom shower did not have its own enclosed base, with the result that water flooded the floor. In fairness to the Hotel Lovech this appears to be a characteristic of Bulgarian hotels outside of Sofia.

Breakfast was served in the adjacent, still Soviet style restaurant and was the least attractive breakfast during a visit to Bulgaria covering 5 hotels.

A redeeming feature is the price of Lev 39 = Eur 20 for a large room including air conditioning an breakfast. Without breakfast and air conditioning the rate drops to Eur 15.Taking this into account I have revised my originally intended 2 star rating and have instead awarded 3 stars to the Hotel Lovech.

It's a nice hotel in the center of Lovech, situated on the river side of the city! The rooms are spacious and fully renovated. The WiFi is strong. The pressure of the hot water is great. The air-conditioner works great. You've got a mini-bar in the room and a little fridge. The staff is polite. I like the hotel, will recommend it and will stay again.

The place is old and dark. The staff is terrible, rude, impolite and unhelpful. There is a smell of cigarettes everywhere. The service they called "breakfast included" was pathetic and ridiculous.

The only good thing of this place is the central location, near the sights.

I booked a double room for 2 nights at 60 BGN per night but when we arrived in this dimly lit hotel, we were informed breakfast was not included in the price, and we could not have an evening meal because they had a prom on. For both meals we had to cross the river to get food - ridiculous The bar was unavailable and we would have to use the mini bar in the room. Reluctantly we went to our allocated room, well what can I say : The rooms had 2 single beds which looked suitable in width for a child. We telephoned reception and when we arrived to talk to them, the manager of Presidivm Palace Hotel was at the desk and asked if we would like to to go to his hotel, even telephoned ahead for us and sent a porter with us to give directions to find it. So that was the best bit about The Lovech, because our stay in Presidivm Palace was superb.

The hotel is long due for a major renovation. The staff is doing everything to keep it clean but the carpeting and furniture is derelict to the point of unusability. Rooms are very clean, but devoid of most amenities. The view however from all rooms is magnificent.
Towels are very old and thin from usage. The restaurant is also staffed with nice and helpful people but the food is far from delicious.
There is free parking, free wifi and perfect location between the centre, the covered bridge and the old architecture district.

When i arrive there i was able to get a nice room with 70's look but its ok except for few cigarette burns on the sink and bathtub but rest of the room looks nice and clean yet still needs for a renovation. If your room will going to have a balcony go and check the lock because the one i had has a lock BUT it won't close well so,think twice of leaving your valuable things.

From the outside the Lovech looks ok, once inside you will encounter a dark dingy and very dated hotel. The pictures on this website were representative of my room.
The hotel has a 1970's feel to it. The staff were friendly enough but it is desperate need of a refurb. Breakfast was awful, cold toast and cold coffee. If you do need to stay in Lovech stay at the Presidium which is 5 minutes away and is clean and modern
