We spent three nights here during our trip south and loved everything about the hotel. I have to admit that we discovered the hotel from the Martin Walker Inspector Bruno books; finding that the hotel was in fact a real place meant it had, for us, to be the only place to say in the Dordogne.

From our lovely warm welcome by front of house staff, to the sublime gastronomic dinner we had on our second night, everything was special. We think the dinner was possibly one of the best we have experienced; the food was sublime and the candle lit atmosphere on the terrace just lovely. My wife does not eat any sort of meat but this was not an issue for this hotel (unlike others we have experienced in France!). We also ate two nights in the hotel bistro in the village; a very reasonably priced restaurant, very relaxed with again excellent food.

The hotel is beautifully situated, very atmospheric and we would love to return for a winter stay and enjoy the log fires and the very cosy leather arm chaired bar for an aperitif before dinner.

What a restful, lovely experience - makes 2 weeks self isolation back in the UK all worthwhile!

This was our first visit to Le Vieux Logis. We have regularly stayed in 4 star hotels in Perigord but wanted to try something new. We have found our new favorite destination!

The hotel is lovely and comfortable, not fussy. The furnishings are quietly elegant, not gold and gaudy. The staff could not be more welcoming and accommodating. From the moment we stepped into reception, we felt that we were valued guests. The manager, Estelle, was delightful as were her colleagues. Each night, someone from reception escorted us to our table on the terrace. It is small touches such as these that make a place special.

What can I say about the restaurant—superb! Some of the best meals we have had and we consider ourselves knowledgeable. The deconstructed vichyssoise was delightful (I could have happily eaten a whole tureen) and the pan-fried foie gras with a corn sorbet was creamy but light. We also had the good fortune to have sweetbreads one night and they were outstanding. The maître d’ treated us like we’d been coming there forever. We had seen some beautiful dessert soufflés on the preceding evening and although we were told they weren’t on that night’s menu, they magically appeared for our dessert course, thanks to the maître d’. The wait staff were attentive and gracious: a major thank you to David and Jordy.

Will we come back? Most definitely. I am already planning a return visit.

A beautiful estate with great hospitality and amazing dining experience. We stayed for two nights, and it had just frosted the night before so the mornings were utterly beautiful. The staff did a great job of recommending us the Truffle Festival in Sarlat about a 45 minute drive and kindly offered if we bring back truffles they can cook us a special menu for dinner. Tried the bistro that is also run by the hotel and it was so great, alongside their Michelin star in-house dining which was a fantastic dining experience. Highly recommend staying here to enjoy a whole 360 experience.

We had a birthday lunch at Le Vieux Logis in August. This is an expensive Michelin starred restaurant and I guess we were expecting an excellent level of service. In fact, the service received was poor. We asked to move table on being offered a table in the middle of the restaurant - this was treated as a chore. We had wanted an aperitive, but were hurried into making an order. We had the menu paired with wine and the sommelier was appalling. He splashed wine into water glasses without an apology, was unhappy to show the label of the wine bottle and was generally rude and unhelpful. Sadly, although the food was delicious, we could not recommend the restaurant based on this experience.

Le Vieux Logis is a gem that is nestled within the charming little town of Tremolat. We found it to be a perfect location for exploring the beautiful Dordogne region and a place that we were very happy to come back to each day to enjoy the grounds and town. The staff at the front desk were always friendly and would help us map out our daily itinerary, with great suggestions on what to do and see. We had an amazing gastronomic dinner that was served in the lovely outdoor garden. We stayed in a suite which was excellent.
We loved our stay here and if/when we return to this part of France, will definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at Le Vieux Logis for a weekend in October to celebrate a milestone anniversary, and were lucky to have beautiful weather. Our room was comfortable, not large, but the bathroom was large and comfortable, with both a bath and shower. We had a quiet room, which suited us. We loved the luxurious dinner in the hotel, fabulous food, beautifully served, lovely room. Our second night we ate at the Bistrot, food was good, but more casual. The staff, particularly Estelle, were very helpful and friendly, and we felt like old friends. Free parking was a bonus. Wish it had been warm enough to enjoy the pool!

As my wife and I cannot travel far due to the pandemic restrictions, we thought to take a short 'Michelin rosette' tour of the Lot and Dordogne. This hotel was charming. The staff were very helpful and attentive. They even checked our onward bookings. Full marks. We were given an upgrade to a well furnished apartment. I guess that because of the current pandemic they wish to showcase their offerings.
We had dinner in the main restaurant, and accompanied the meal with their choice of wines. Normally I prefer to choose my own - but I found the choice excellent.
Dinner was very good, and certainly in line with what I would expect at a Michelin 1 rosette table.
However, with the exception of one young man, the service was indifferent. The waiter twice leaned across my wife to serve, in spite of there being enough room to go behind. Twice my plate was served before hers. One course arrived for us both while she was still eating the previous one - and left to the side. When I protested, the waiter blamed this arrival on the chef. The course was actually a cold dish..
However - apart from these issues, I will go back, and will certainly take dinner there again..
The 'Service' rating below should really by 'Excellent' for the Hotel staff, and 'Indifferent' for the restaurant.

Highly recommend this hotel as a base to explore Bergerac and the Dordogne, although there are relatively few amenities in the village of Tremolat itself. The hotel has loads of period character but is maintained to a high standard. Our room was large, comfortable and had a very rustic feel. We didn't try the gourmet restaurant but the Bistrot and tartine bar in the village square are both owned by the hotel and were excellent. There was a good choice at breakfast but we have had better fruit and dairy. It was too cold to swim in the open air pool but we loved walking in the beautiful gardens and enjoyed evening drinks on the terrace. The bar and humidor have lots of character but never seemed busy. Very friendly and helpful staff and the complementary walnut vinegar was a nice touch. After we got home, we were watching BBC iPlayer and saw this hotel features in the 1980s Floyd on France series!

Just stay and eat there and you will wonder why you have never been there before. Super comfortable beds and rooms and cooking of the highest order. To eat chef Vincent’s food in the garden terrace under the trees is a truly memorable experience. Well done everyone at the hotel.

Our first time here but not for Relais and Chateaux properties. The hotel is in a lovely small town in Dordogne and is a charming farm-like property. The staff was welcoming and we enjoyed sitting in the garden for a drink upon our arrival. We had a room that was not in the main building (actually a two room suite.) over looking the large lawn. Room was a little shabby as well as furnishings. Bathroom could use a good update and room could use a fresh coat of paint with some more interesting antique furnishings. Not quite the level of the normal Relais and Chateau property. The location is charming and the front desk personnel are very helpful. Dinner at their casual restaurant was dissapointing. I would recommend this hotel with some reservations. It is a charming farm house property in a lovely small town that could use some updating.

Sir/Ma'am, I am not a staff member. I am just a traveller. We stayed in rooms that had king-size beds, and both the rooms were on the ground floor. I think after you have booked online, you need to email the hotel immediately with your specifications/needs. Enjoy your visit in May! Best wishes, Swati

Actuellement, compte tenu de l'épidémie, il n'y a pas de buffet, mais quoique servi à table le petit déjeuner est très complet et comporte des mets salés. Tout est absolument délicieux.
