Booked in on 14/08 to stay for 1 night (2 rooms - 1 dbl and 1 trpl). Receptionist was the rudest person I ever said, arrogant and acted as if he is doing us a favor for sleeping there). None of the rooms had air con. Dbl room on ground floor with window out to the restaurant terrace so cannot keep open. Triple room stank of cigarettes and a stale smell. We asked to have it changed and the receptionist went ballistic as the corner of the bed was undone and bathroom sink dirty but obviously not from us as we never unpacked. Booking.com already had taken payment but we still refused to stay there and left. Receptionist threatened to call manager God knows why as they already got their money for the two caves not rooms ... Dirtiest and the most ran down hotel ever seen. Be aware pictures showed on booking.com do not reflect reality.

Dear Tibster, We are sorry to hear that you didn't appreciate the hotel. Just to let you know that it was the Assistant Manager that took care of you and he has been working her for 15 years, without any problems with the guest. Probably the 3 star standard of our rooms are not the standard you are used to, and we are really sorry about that. Kindest regards Marianne Anciaux Hotel Manager

As said: a good place for a stay overnight on the way to the south (or the north) . Close to the highway. Very good breakfast, nice people, small but good room. Brown calcium stains in toilet bowl should be removed to mke it perfect!@

Room small but well equipped and complimented by a large very comfortable bed with soft pillows and good linen. Did not use any of the other facilities so could not comment on them. 24 hour desk is great for catching early ferry or arriving late. Reasonably priced.

Perhaps I am being unfair but the first thing I learnt in the hotel business, the customer come first. Upon arriving at Les Charmilles, the outside looks run down with the brown curtains flapping out of the window, I thought maybe it’s better inside. Thank goodness we were only spending one night here. Check in, we had to ring a bell for the attention then wait 10 minutes until someone came which it seemed he was very annoyed we had disturbed him from his smoke break. He gave us no information about breakfast, we asked him how to walk to the next village in which he replied “good luck with getting over the roundabout, you have to run”!! The room is in desperate need of a refurbishment, there is no shower curtain, so everything gets wet including the toilet paper. We have a baby and the bed for her was full of brown marks and holes and the mattress smelt of smoke. After realizing there was no kettle I went down to reception and asked for one for which I was told only the bigger rooms have kettles. I had to literally beg to get a kettle to boil water for my baby, to which after a lot of discussion in French I was given one. We had breakfast over the road at the bakery for half the price they were charging us in the hotel. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to my worst enemy!! Absolutely terrible!

Hello, Further to your review, please find below some information from us : With a baby I would suggest you to choose a comfort room, it's just a little bit more expensive and much bigger, the bathroom also. The hot water kettles are only available in the comfort rooms, but of course we do warm up baby food and drinks in the reception without any problem. Our staff is working in the reception, but also in the restaurant, outside, in the wine cellar....so there is a bell to press when you arrive to call them. Our hotel is much to small to pay a person to sit behind the reception and wait for the guests... Sorry about all these inconveniences, maybe our staff did not understand everything in English, we hope you will have a much better stay next time! Kindest regards Marianne Anciaux
