This is a really lovely hotel in “Italy’s smallest town” right next to Amalfi. Everything was spotless. The roof deck is highly scenic. The town itself is much more peaceful and quiet than Amalfi. Note, however, that the church in town chimes every quarter hour, so you might want earplugs. It’s across the valley, but still not that far away.

My room had a small balcony—not big enough to sit on, but I put the interior chair next to the window so I could look out onto the view, which is sublime. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of room. There’s a little fridge with a few drinks in it (for purchase) but also room to keep a couple of your own water bottles.

The breakfast has everything you could want—eggs, salumi, cheese, grilled veggies, yogurt, cakes, croissants, fruit, even cereal. The staff is friendly and quick with the coffee.

I didn’t use any of the spa services but they’re there if you’re interested. There are plenty of sitting areas and also a bar.

The signage from the parking area at the foot of the stairs is good if you know where to look. They’ll send someone down to help you carry bags and navigate the stairs.

Getting there: The pedestrian tunnel from Amalfi isn’t super easy to find. Walking along the coastal road, when the road veers right to go around the hill, turn left. The tunnel entrance is in that piazza. Once in the tunnel, follow the brightly lit part (there’s another part that goes through a gate; that’s not what you want). It goes uphill a bit. When you get out, you can either go through a traffic tunnel, which comes out onto an elevated street, or take the pedestrian way, which goes right through a restaurant’s outdoor seating to the right of the tunnel. This way starts with steps but takes you to the beach level and the steps to the hotel. Taking the 2d tunnel means you have to take the steps from that elevated street down to the beach level.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Palazzo Ferraioli In October 2021( so this is a little delayed review) we had a fantastic stay. The staff was very helpful and service minded. And they offered to Cary our luggage up all the stairs arriving in the middle of the night . We were celebrating our 20 year’s wedding anniversary, and both Carmela and Antoinette were very helpful arranging surprises bubbles and fruit in the room when we arrived 🎉😃 the hotel has a fantastic sun terrace on the roof ☀️ Tasteful and varied breakfast where we had smile-full greetings every morning. From the receptions we received nice tips for both trips , hikes and restaurants. Our room was also perfect, and we had a fantastic view . We stayed in the Isabella Rossellini room. We are looking forward to our next stay in this super hotel

Great staff and the spa experience was time well spent for a rainy afternoon. At the end of the stay we were told a memory foam mattress topper could have been requested...the delicate Canadians found the beds too hard. We also were told a porter to the street and to the ferry could also be arranged (for a fee). Money well spent after a weekend of stairs. One other° item was the temperature ° of the breakfast... wasn't hot enough for our tastes. Rooftop was lovely with drinks, olives and other menu items. Lovely.

I spent a couple of days at the end of september with my wife in this boutique hotel located 15 minutes from Amalfi center, in a spacious room, very clean with a nice view of the ocean and hot tub in the room and we really appreciated the service at check-in, the staff accompanied us up to the room and explained the information of the hotel, always with a smile.
They have a free vailet service for the luggage (you need this due the amount of the stairs)
Nice breakfast with buffet on the second floor.
We were really happy to stay in this hotel, we spend a lot of money, but we were disappointed by the inexistent service of the bar on the panoramic terrace on the sixth floor and by the rudeness of the girl at the reception. My wife and I wanted to drink and eat several times but no one in the whole stay in the afternoon/evening was ever there to greet us (at the end we bought pizzas from the nearest restaurant and ate on the terrace). Only the last day we finally saw a little girl of the staff looking annoyed, always on the phone (she never asked us if we need anything) and we preferred to go elsewhere so as not to ruin our last day.
We asked if this was normal to the "receptionist" with the name VANESA. She was not at desk to help but hidden and sitting in her office and without even getting up from the chair, she yelled to us saying that we shouldn't bother her for this and other words in her language. The day before she didn't even give us information of the availability for the massages and spa. She has NO respect and NO desire to work for the guests of the hotel!!!

Thankfully the rest of the staff were always welcoming.

Just came back from our 20 year anniversary Eurotrip and our last stop was the Amalfi Coast for 4 days! Looked over multiple hotels and decided to stay here in Palazzo Ferraioli because of the amazing pictures and service reviews, and it did not disappoint at all. First, let me say that yes, there are stairs as everywhere in here, and it is part of the experience and charm of the Amalfi Coast, but what really stands out in this hotel is the service! Vincenzo, Daniela and Carlo and such a great group of people, always with a smile on their faces and ready to make your stay as great as it can be! First day we came tired from France, and just booked what I considered “the best massage I’ve ever had”. This is not your typical “Fancy Spa massage”, but a real massage from Daniela, that will wake up your senses and leave you ready for your whole vacation, just Amazing! Then Vincenzo at the reception, the guy is always happy, smiling and ready to tell you where to go, your best options for transportation, what makes sense and not, where to eat to avoid “tourist traps” etc, he was so helpful and attentive all the trip. And then you have Carlo, guy is just a “character”, typical Italian dude with a smile and such a customer oriented attitude that you just can’t keep quiet around him. Just to say, I didn’t even had the opportunity for him to carry my luggage, but even without that happening, I still needed to tip him, he made our stay a wonderful thing, and the best part, I got superb service from his daughter Enza in Palazzo Confalone in Ravello, what a coincidence! It’s a shame she is not working Ferraioli anymore, she is a gem. And I can’t forget Antonella in the breakfast, beautiful girl always with a smile on her face and makes the best Cappuccino ever, we had to go every day there just for her Cappuccino, even though breakfast was delicious! In summary, beautiful hotel, amazing views from room and Solarium, superb customer service and Atrani is in my opinion the best place you can choose to stay in Amalfi Coast. Short walk to Amalfi for Ferry transportation, but quiet nights for a real rest without the whole touristy vibe in the other towns. Thank you Vincenzo, Daniela, Carlo and Antonella for such a wonderful attention during our anniversary, we will be back!

What a gem! Excellent service from everyone, starting from the receptionist, to the breakfast staff. I cannot but praise Carlo for offering an amazing concierge service. He came for us as soon as we arrived and picked us up from the main road of Atrani, took our luggage and showed us the way to the hotel. If it is your first time visiting Amalfi Coast, it is not straight forward to reach the hotel, but once Carlo showed us the way, it was super easy. Though you have to climb stairs, it is very doable (without the luggage). The rooms very huge, clean and tidy. Breakfast was served daily and had an number of selection. Hotel is a few minutes away from Amalfi by walk. Excellent location. The receptionist, I believe her name was Antonella, was always very helpful when we asked her some questions to guide us. On our check out, Carlo assisted us with our luggage all the way up to the top. Definitely one of the most amazing hotels we’ve been to. Friendly staff and always so ready to help.

The hotel in itself is rather small, only elevator present only holds 2 people at a time and it’s available on the lobby floor, 72 flight of steps to get there.
Don’t be fooled when in hotel description it says 72 steps to beach, it’s 72 flight of stairs with luggage.
Instructions of getting to hotel where ok but omitting different ways to get there. For 2 ,50 euros we arrived by bus, hotel was willing to arrange private transportation for 80 euros per 2 people.
When you arrive to meeting place on the beach, someone guides you up the 72 flights of stairs, he doesn’t help carry but then waits for tip when dropping luggage off in room. We did leave by ferry to Napoli, about a 2 hour boat ride which we took from amalfi. The hotel can arrange a golf cart to help with luggage at 60 euros, we did have a decent amount of luggage however we asked a nice taxi driver downstairs and only charged us 25euros to drop us at amalfi. One receptionist nicer than other , massage therapist very nice!

We stayed at Palazzo Ferraioli for 2 nights and we wished we had more time in this Palazzo. Rooms are very clean, spacious and with a beautiful view of Atrani. What attracted us the most is that the hotel is situated in the middle of the streets with the locals. All staff are helpful especially the waitress which we didn’t manage to get her name who is fondly in love with our country Malta.
Thank you guys- its been a pleasure- Glenn and Kurt

Shocking room, misleading marketing and an unhelpful response!

The marketing materials clearly state all rooms having a balcony or sea view, with some facing the village. They didn’t state facing someone else’s bedroom and waste pipe, ( see picture ). When challenged, I was told to email the manager, ( no-one available), and the room had a window so it wasn’t a problem! I could change rooms for another €400. Avoid at all costs!

More of the same. This is a wonderful place. The room was a corner room, “Liza”, and had two large windows for perfect circulation. My girlfriend cried the day we left because she loved it so much. That’s about the best review one could give. No where near as crowded as Amalfi and a 15 minute walk away from Amalfi through a convenient tunnel.

Can anyone explain what an 'emotional shower' is as described in the spa brochure? 😂
Answer from Tom D
London, United Kingdom2 helpful votes
I recently tried an emotional shower at a hotel in Tuscany! Probably the same one. The last time I had an emotional shower the wife tried to join me in one with music on the iPhone and a few candles. Needless to say the experience ended up being nagged for 30min for using her razor to shave my toes, a broken phone and me dripping in candle wax like some ill conceived fetish sex game. All rather emotional by the end of it! I was pleasantly surprised by my more recent experience. I enjoyed the mood lighting and lavender scented spray reminding me of the cheap air freshener you usually find in an old people’s home. Hats off to the hotel for an excellent experience! Highly recommended!

It was an easy walk from Atrani through the tunnel to Amalfi and back again, when we went shopping on foot. Be sure to ask directions to the tunnel and avoid the narrow roadside!

1. Train from Rome to Salerno. Ferry from Salerno to Amalfi. Walk or taxi from Amalfi to Atrani. Call or email hotel about getting from Amalfi to the hotel and help with your luggage. Do not rent a car. The road on Amalfi Coast is treacherous and you don't need car once there. 2. Not sure. Call or email hotel (their email is listed on bottom of their website's home page). 3. You can't go wrong. It depends on what you like. We like to hike, so we hiked everywhere, using buses or ferry as needed. If you hike, get the Sunflower guide to Amalfi coast. It's great. We also try to stay away from overly populated touristy areas, but Amalfi, Positano, and Ravello are all beautiful and you can get away from heavy crowds by walking. The church in Minori is worth a visit. Many people are not fond of Maiori because much of its old section was lost to flooding in the 60s and replaced with modern apt complexes. But we really liked it, esp. its church and Boardwalk. Also, lots of good food, and a relatively easy gorgeous hike between Maiori and Minori on the path of the lemons. 4. Atrani is chock full of great, affordable restaurants. Our favorites were Savo, Mistral, and Le Arcate (great view).
