I recently had a three night stay at Heron Lodge (Number 1) at Hornsea Lakeside Lodges. The lodges are situated in a nice location with sea views and are within walking distance of Hornsea Town and the Freeport Shopping Centre. The lodges are externally attractive and well-spaced out with views of the lake. There was car parking at each lodge and entry to the park was via electric gates which opened upon reading your car number plate.
Our lodge had three bedrooms (one en-suite) and an open plan lounge/dining room/kitchen. The kitchen was well equipped and there was two fridges – plenty of space to chill the beers. There was also a washing machine and dishwasher. The lodge was very clean and well presented. Make sure you take extra toilet paper, tea towels/dishcloths and washing-up liquid. There is a large Tesco nearby (5 minute drive). There was plenty of hot water and the shower pressure was really good.
We paid a security deposit of £100.00 which was returned shortly after departure.
The balcony outside the front of the lodge was great and had a lovely view of the park and lake.
I really enjoyed my break at Hornsea Lakeside Lodges. It was my first holiday this year and I felt very safe and COVID secure. The lodge felt clean and hygienic and everything was well spaced out. It is somewhere I would happily stay again. Recommended.

So we booked a 5 bedroomed lodge at Hornsea Lakeside Lodges in April for a 4 night stay 14-18th June, and we weren't disappointed. The 4pm check in process was easy and contactless, we were met at reception by the owner who gave us the key and tv remotes. The site is gated and uses NPR technology to open the gate when you come and go.

The Lodge was big and I mean big, opening up on to the 3 small lakes which make up the site. Our lodge was 3 bedrooms upstairs, 2 downstairs (both on suite with showers), big kitchen area and a fridge/freezer to stand in !! Lots of plates/dishes/crockery and a dishwasher as well. All the beds were clean and freshly made up ready for our stay.

The lodge had everything you needed including an Henry, plenty of towels per person and a private hot tub attached to each lodge (take your own towels for that) which had been emptied, cleaned and refilled earlier in the day. There were 5 adults and a toddler in our group, so that left one bedroom unoccupied as the baby slept in one on her own in a travel cot. BBQ's available to hire and in the cooler nights there's a log fire as well as central heating of required. Hot water was instant straight from the lodges boiler. There was even a complimentary kitchen pack comprising of dishwasher tabs, pan scourer, tea cloth, and bin liners etc.

Hornsea isn't a big place but we had a day on the beach, and found free parking which makes a change. We went to the Deep in Hull on another day, and to Bridlington on another, then just chilled the rest of the time as need be. In the evenings because the toddler likes her sleep we played games and had a drink, then bed !!! On the last night we had Fish and Chips delivered from Whiteheads to the Lodge who took our order over the phone, delivered promptly, reasonably priced, but most importantly they were absolutely delicious. I've not seen so many chips for a long time !!

Amenities nearby, Tesco 5 mins drive, Hornsea Freeport 5 mins drive, Hornsea Beach 10 mins max drive (free parking at the southern end), Bridlington 30 mins drive north, and lots of other smaller beaches nearby. Asda deliver to site as well so I expect Tesco will.

All in all a lovely week, in a quiet well kept and maintained site and really couldn't have asked for more really for the price paid. Thanks to the site owners for being welcoming and friendly as well.

We have Just returned from a weeks holiday in the sandpiper (cabin 3) with two teenagers.
We arrived friday at 4pm and immediately greeted at our car by the lovely receptionist with the key and remotes for TVs. Have to bravo them as all done minimal distance and contact. We pulled up at our lodge and was blown away. The size of it and decking surrounding overlooking the lake was beautiful!
Inside was lovely and clean and had everything you needed, it really is a home from home. The little touches like the washer/dryer, dishwasher, little complimentary pack including a tea towel and a gonna glass added to the top end cabin.
There is three lakes on site which all the lodges overlook that we fished and got some carp and roaches out of. The wildlife surrounding including a deer which the kids saw was really beautiful.
There is a lovely short walk to cliff edge buy unfortunately you cannot access beach there, you can however walk about 15 mins towards the caravans and access it there which makes a lovely little walk out.
The highlight of my stay was the hot tub! Any full time working mum of teens will tell you how much it means to relax in a hot tub. It was huge, clean and up to temp the night we arrived. There is towels provided for each room and each room had it's own ensuite including shower/bath and all beds were made up.
The only downside to our stay and this is purely personal preference is that the bed and pillows were a little hard for my liking, we didn't complain as I thought this was a little harsh considering it's not my own preference, a trip to poundstecher and two pillows later solved this.
The cabin get really warm on an evening and as its surrounded by fields I wouldnt suggest opening a window so a fan would be a good idea to bring too.

All in all we loved every minute of our stay and will return again!

Thank you all.

We stayed at Sandpiper 2 and I can honestly say that we were disappointed from the time we opened the door into the lodge. The cleanliness was totally unsatisfactory with dust on the floors and a terrible smell coming out of both base floor bathrooms with mould on the ceilings. We also noticed that the cutlery and pans were dirty so needed to wash them again coupled to the damages to the kitchen doors and rips on both sofas. The wooden floors are buckling and uneven. The TV was positioned on the coffee table and the TV cabinet was positioned as the coffee table. The new TVs were too big for the actual TV cabinets. We approached the management team who came over and took photographs and apologised and mentioned they would get the cleaners back. The next day we returned to find a vast improvement on the cleanliness however this should have been the standard as soon as you walked through the door.

The management need to review the cleaning processes and at least carry out a secondary check prior to guests arriving as this could avoid any disappointment for a holiday that isn't cheap.

There is no doubt the location and site surroundings are excellent however the older lodges need attention and full refurbishment. After 20 years of booking Hoseasons lodges we will not return to this site and wouldn't recommend the sandpiper lodges.

A special mention to the maintaince guy who was helpful throughout the week replacing loose decking, cleaning dirty hot tub and always on hand to help.

With regards to the hot tub, they are dropped, cleaned and refilled with fresh water after every checkout. Also, a 'Hot Tub Rules' card is given at every check-in explaining how to look after your hot tub. Regarding the cleanliness of your lodge, it was reported to our independent cleaning team and we acted as soon as we could to rectify the problem for you, again please accept our apologies. We will pass on your comments to maintenance-thank you-he will appreciate your comments. Sorry for the inconvenience which was caused whilst you were staying with us and we're sorry you will not be visiting us again.

Lodges are far superior to the normal expected and are set round a lake spaced at relatively good distances to maintain privacy.

We stayed in the dovetail which comes with its own hot tub for 5. Tub must me on uneven ground as while the water level is at the right markings the jets on the other side were not covered fully in water which made for an interesting water feature when put up to max (while some are suppose to be out of the water these particular ones most certainly shouldn’t ).

BBQ you have to pay to rent which also comes with 4 instant light bags of charcoal, £35 for the week, seemed a little steep but we went with it. Glad we did as we were greeted with a Weber kettle and a superior utensils set.

The reception staff are very friendly and called us a few days prior to check us in and arrange keys in a Dropbox as we were to arrive after they closed. Arrival all went well and instructions perfect to gain access to the well cleaned lodge awaiting us. We Noticed a list in the kitchen of items expected in the lodge with a note to say any missing kit is chargeable. Not wanting to be charged we did a check to find a good proportion is missing so informed reception the very next morning when they opened who was happy to replace everything FOC. Not that we felt the missing items would effect our stay we politely declined but hopefully they can replenish in time for the next guests and put in a more stringent check during cleaning.

Overall a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend. They could look at the maintenance side of things i.e decking looks tired, as does the curtains in places but wouldn’t hamper your stay.

The only one gripe we had was the outside lights are on a timer, we spoke with reception to see if there was a switch which there wasn’t for our lodge, which meant the lights shone through the downstairs bedrooms back door windows with no curtain in place. We had to makeshift a curtain to cover the door every night so the kids could get to sleep.

We stayed in a dovestail lodge with our little girl and our dog, honestly I can’t even begin to describe how amazing this place is!! If you’re looking for a cosy, relaxing break then look no further! The cabin and grounds were breathtaking! It really did feel like home from home! So cosy on a night with the log burner and the HUGE hot tub outside was the best I’ve ever been in. I loved waking up, making a coffee and opening the curtains to the beautiful lake views, so peaceful and quite.
It really felt like an American Christmas movie.
We all said we don’t know how anyone couldn’t love this place and are already planning on future trips with the rest of our families! We didn’t want to come home!
I would say definitely purchase the logs as it felt so cosy snuggling up at night with the fire on watching movies.
The only slight negatives I would say is having to pay for the WiFi which we didn’t do as we had already read on reviews isn’t very good and the bed upstairs could do with a more comfortable mattress but all in all it wouldn’t stop us from rebooking.

If you’ve already booked there was a welcome box with washing up liquid, big bags, 2x dishwasher tablets, a tea towel and a cloth- I brought all of these things with us so I’ll know for next not to bring them. I also brought extra toilet roll but we didn’t end up needing them. You also get a big towel and a hand towel per person so bring extra for the hot tub as we did.

Also I would highly recommend ordering a takeaway from fivebites, lovely pizza!

We returned yesterday after a 4 night stay in the Dovetail Lodge, which was a perfect size for me and my partner, 2 teenagers and a toddler.

Location
The site itself is beautiful and obviously very well looked after. The lodges are in a great location, a good 30 minute walk to the beach, but scenic if you walk directly along the cliffs along the coastal path (a little difficult with a pram, but doable). We took trips to Bridlington, The Deep and Withernsea whilst we were there, all just a 30 minute drive away. You can have your shopping delivered if it’s easier for you, but there’s a huge Tesco not even 5 minutes down the road. Overall can’t fault the location.

Lodge
The lodge itself was very spacious and included everything mentioned when booking. Couldn’t get the Bluetooth speakers to work but that could have quite easily been me not figuring it out! The kitchen was well stocked with enough utensils and cooking equipment to cook simple, fresh meals. If you’re looking to go gourmet you’re probably best bringing you’re own as the utensils are cheap and old and everything seemed to stick to the pans no matter how much oil/butter I used! Having a dishwasher was really handy, we also had a washer/dryer but didn’t use it.
The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean, the en-suite in the downstairs bedroom was lovely and the spa bath was nice to use.
The living and dining area was spacious and plenty of space to eat and sit. My only gripe was that there were no cushions on the sofa which made it pretty uncomfortable and resorted to using pillows from the bed.
Freeview was okay but for the price you can pay for these lodges during summer I’d probably expect Sky or something similar. We took a fire stick to use in the TV and used internet hotspot on our phones which worked fine for the little one.
The hot tub was lovely and very big and was checked by the groundskeeper every morning.
A few cobwebs in corners but the lodge was clean in all the right places so nothing that was an issue. The water wasn’t very nice even for coffee but just different to what I’m used to because of the area, personally I’d take bottled water next time.
A lovely lodge, but could do with a general update throughout.

Overall we had a fantastic time, the site was lovely and peaceful and made for a great family holiday after COVID. The team were very friendly when we arrived and check in and out was super easy. Our little one loved being able to run around outside and found it hilarious when they ducks would come right up onto the decking on a morning. I sadly can’t wake up to those beautiful sunrises over the lake everyday, but look forward to hopefully returning again next year!

2nd visit to the Lakeside Lodges and won't be the last.
Stayed in a Teal lodge and enjoyed every minute. Facilities are great, fully fitted kitchen, lovely bedrooms and bathrooms and loads of space. Hot tub was hot from arrival, clean and perfect to use.
Lodges are spaced out very well, park is very well kept and very peaceful and relaxing.
Located just up the road from Hornsea Freeport shopping centre and only a few minutes from a large Tesco. Some take-aways in Hornsea will deliver to the site you just order and meet them at the entrance gate.
Worth getting some logs for the log burner just to create a nice cosy atmosphere in the lodge but not needed for heating as they are nice and warm anyway.
Great place to stay and will be returning.

We stayed here back in May for 3 nights in the Oystercatcher lodge (no 18) and what an amazing weekend we had! Upon arrival the lodge was immaculate, we paid £20 for the early check in which was definitely worth it as we wanted to decorate it for my mam's 50th birthday before she arrived. We stayed in a group of 10 (8 adults/2 kids) and found that the lodge was so spacious for us all so I'd definitely recommend this lodge for a large group. Overall we had an amazing weekend here and can't wait to return some time again in the future, everything was perfect!

A big thanks to Claire who has been so helpful with everything, she provided me with the details of a local balloon lady which I used for the 50th balloons, these were also amazing and such good value for money.

We have just returned from a weeks stay in the Oystercatcher lodge number 18. My husband fished every morning and caught lots of fish in the lake outside our lodge. Lots of space for the kids to run about and lovely to sit outside in the day and evenings when the weather was warm. A lovely relaxing holiday was had by all. Positives the area was clean and well kept, some geese and rabbits running about and the grass being cut. The lodge was clean, spacious and cosy and the hot tub was warm on arrival although we didn’t use it as much as we normally do as the weather was warm so in winter we would probably be in it a lot more. The beds were comfy and my three year old slept though most nights! It is a five-ten min walk to local golf club which the men visited for a pint or two. Local Tesco and Hornsea beach close by. We visited Bridlington beach for the day which was nice but also there is another beach which is closer called Fraisthorpe beach which was lovely also. We paid 3.00 to park although it started to rain so didn’t stay long. We did an online click and collect from Tesco in Hull. This was half hour drive there and back as the local one didn’t offer this service. We had a takeaway from Maa Indian restaurant and that was very good. There were bbqs to hire but we didn’t take advantage of this as used the oven every night.
The local high street has lovely fish and chips and there is a park close by to this for the kids to play.

The only negatives I have which are very minor and not that big a deal were that there was no oven glove, maybe due to corona? Not a big issue for us as we managed without it and we didn’t mention it to reception so am sure if we did they would have had one for us. The staff were friendly at check in and helpful when we needed them. We paid 10.00 for unlimited WiFi but it wasn’t the best. Also there wasn’t any full length mirrors in the bedrooms. There is one under the tv in the bedroom that is horizontal so even just moving this to another wall vertically would be good. These are very minor issues that not everyone will be bothered by and it didn’t affect our holiday just little things that would make it better.

Will we be back, yes definitely we had a lovely time and the negatives mentioned are little things not major things. Didn’t stop us enjoying ourselves and we would recommend to others. A lovely setting, lots of space for the children to enjoy themselves, and a relaxing break after lockdown. We will be seeing you again.

You'd have to ring the site directly to see if this is possible? The enhanced cleaning regimes during Covid19 pandemic may restrict access til later unless you're lucky enough to have booked a previously unoccupied lodge.
