We stumbled across this remote gem on the internet at a time when alternative accommodation was booked out. We self catered the first night but had dinner in the dining room the second night. Great meal and friendly local atmosphere in the bar. It became obvious that people use The Alt for fishing & hunting trips as the bar was...

We arrived in a camper van on the 10th October 2016 and were greeted with such a friendly welcome from Lesley and Rob that we decided to stay on and ask for an evening meal. A fire was lit and the three course meal cooked just for us. The onion and leek soup, steak and ale pie with vegetables and...

A most pleasant place to break the journey up the west coast. The rooms were clean and well kitted out for self catering although we found the food good value and the owner most knowledgable and very helpful.

So when you walk into the bar of a hotel, dripping water all over their floor and soaking customers at the bar each time you move you do not expect to be welcomed enthusiastically especially if you haven't booked in advance. The welcome I received from Lesley and Rob ( the latter producing a warm, fluffy towel to help me dry...

Lovely peaceful setting for this motel. Very clean self catering rooms, had breakfast in motel the first morning, lovely freshly cooked Scottish breakfast, they also do evening meals that looked lovely, we didn't eat in the evening but saw the food and the empty plates that people had left, shows more than words how good the good was. Very helpful...

A very peaceful place. The owners are fantastic, very welcoming and kind. The accommodation is great, and the evening meal and breakfast is just what we were after. Has a well stocked bar. Very much recommended. For the four of us on a bike trip it was perfect.

Small restaurant/motel in a very remote part of the Highlands but worth the journey out from Ullapool. The homemade butternut squash soup was nice and thick and the sandwiches very well filled. Staff are friendly and the food is reasonably priced

Lesley & Rob were so accommodating and could not do enough for us all.. Set in what i can only describe as beautiful scenery/setting.. We would definitely stay...

"The Alt" is passed by a great many people every day, most of them in a hurry to a coastal destination in North-West Scotland. I've known it for a long time under its previous owners, but this was a first visit under its current management. Impressed by Lesley's willingness to provide (by prior arrangement) food for a small group at...
