Nice quaint cabins but leave more to be desired. We loved the town of New Denver but the Glacier Cabins were a disappointment,. There were no washcloths. Only two bath towels, no bedside lamp and the smoke detector was hanging out of the ceiling by the wires. We finally asked the owners if we could have a bedside table lamp as I like to read before going to sleep.

We stayed at these cottages for 2 nights. The host was there only briefly, though when we got a signal we were able to call him and he responded quickly. For our first night, our host told us in advance the key was on the office door, which it was, but there was also a general note for the public to use the key to check themselves in. Our room had a folded up futon cushion oddly in our room for no reason. Also the internet worked about 30% of the time. Because of this we asked our host for a discount on our second night and he agreed Our host did help us find a ride we didn't count on needing. However, our host was not around the day we left and thus we couldn't pay in person. Communicating by email we asked him to contact us about paying. We never heard from him again and a month later he charged our credit card the full amount, no discount.

A very simple set of cabins in Beautiful New Denver. Priced right, clean and simple. Nothing fancy here as they are dated, but well kept and clean.
Trevor was there to greet us with keys and any info we needed.
We had read the reviews on Trip Advisor and had mixed feeling about staying here but emailed Trevor and said we were concerned about the mixed reviews and wondered which experience we were going to have.
Trevor assured us it would be clean, which it was.
We would stay here again if we were in New Denver and needed a place for the night.
Some better pictures of your place on your web site and other sites your advertising on would be a good idea.

After booking a cabin several weeks in advance, and receiving our confirmation email (and a subsequent second confirmation by the proprietor Trevor to make sure we were coming!), we arrived at check-in time to find that there was no cabin available for us at all. Trevor told us he had made the decision to rent by the month, but had neglected to let us know in advance of our arrival. When asked to help us find another place in the village or environs, Trevor was very reluctant to do so and it was only with insistence that he helped us find a room. We were very disappointed at the lack of courtesy and professionalism.

We recently stayed here for one night, June 24/21. The room was not clean. There were hairs on the floor in the living room and in the shower stall, crumbs and an old peanut shell in the utensil tray, a filthy toaster oven, some kind of “material” splashed down the outside and inside of the kitchen cupboard, and multiple bugs in the light shades. We would never stay here again!

Although this property looks clean and charming from the outside, I would advise you to drive on by and find another place to stay in the gorgeous surroundings of New Denver and Silverton. The following are the facts about the inside of our cabin, which thankfully, we had only booked for one night:

Microwave: grimy and food-splattered inside

Stove: truly filthy inside and the top half-heartedly cleaned

Fridge: a leak down the back interior wall that caused pooling at the bottom; unclean crispers and rubber seals around the door

Baseboards: hadn't had a dusting in eons and the dust had turned to grime

Window blinds: unclean and fly-specked

Bathroom cabinet door: who-knows-when it was last wiped down

Inside door mat: dirty and not even bothered to be vacuumed before we checked in

Burnt-out light in the kitchen

Sheets and towels: thin and worn-out looking

Naturally, one would not expect the windows to be clean amidst this squalor.

Actually, we hold only ourselves to blame for not refusing to stay here and failing to demand a refund to our credit card. The very first clue to the state of this place was a large, glass ashtray, containing a lone cigarette butt, that lay smashed a few inches away from the front doorstep. It must have lain there for some time as it was covered in spiderwebs. Whoever "cleaned" this cabin could not have failed to see it, but he/she was too lazy to remove it.

To avoid spending any more time in the cabin than we absolutely had to, we had dinner out (we would never eat any food that was prepared in that stove or microwave) and afterwards, walked about the town for as long as it was light out, which was close to 10:00 p.m.

For this we were charged $90 a night. The owners appear to be a young couple. If they can't do enormously better than this for their customers, they don't deserve to be in business.

Response from GlacierCabins, Manager at Glacier View Cabins

You are correct that the facilities were not up to standard. My apologies. I had a work crew staying with us for the spring at a discounted rate for a longer term rental. When their contract was up the summer season began and you stayed with us. The regular spring cleaning of the cabin didn't get done before the season. The cabins are now scrubbed down and back to the shape that you would expect.

We made a reservation for a room with 2 beds, but the owners decided someone else needed it more than we did, and provided a leaky air mattress on the concrete floor that we had no room for except in the closet. No additional bedding was provided beyond sheets, and so it was cold. The owners / operators took off for the day leaving no indication of when they might be back to provide service. The entire place is given over to the owner's children, and it was not unusual to be dealing with a toddler without a diaper doing its business anywhere. There is also no TV reception, although one is provided, with only snow storm viewing on 2 channels.

Response from GlacierCabins, Owner at Glacier View Cabins
Responded Apr 1, 2016
I can't really remember the specifics of your stay as it was so long ago. I assume the 2nd bed was for a child. When demand is very high in the summer for the Valhalla music school we often have kids sleeping on the air mattresses and have not had a complaint. Last summer my ex-wife and I split up so was dealing with a few extra-ordinary circumstances and unsure about the future of the motel. That situation has now been resolved and I will be staying as the sole owner. I can't quite resolve the statement that the "owner took off for the day" and yet the "entire place is taken over to the owner's children", which one is it? we were there or not there? New Denver is in high demand for summer tourism but at present has almost no business from early October to mid May so yes my kids like to play in our yard. It used to be a carpark but most people enjoy the extensive garden renovations that have been undertaken for our mutual benefit. I attempt to make a balance of respecting our guests desire for privacy and peace and quiet with a desire for normal socialization. Most people enjoy the family atmosphere but I understand that you didn't.

Came to New Denver for the Garlic Festival and stayed 2 nights. Cabin was very comfortable & quiet. Furnishings a bit dated but very functional. All & all a pleasant experience. Would definitely stay here again.

Very clean, spacious and bright, our very large room had three comfy beds for three exhausted sport-crazed guys. There was ample room inside for our road bikes. Our host ,Trevor, is an avid athlete with tons of local knowledge for road and Mtn cyclists, hikers, hang gliders. He's passionate about where he lives and shared his love of the Slocan. Would readily return!

My family and I stayed in these cabins and there are 5 of us. We all had space to be apart, the kids in one area and the adults in another. We stayed in the family cabin and would definitely return there when we are back that way. The owner was so very accommodating and even helped bring in our luggage. I traveled with my senior parents and he was so good to help me, anything we needed he would help us out. Even down to the brakes on the truck. Gave us good advise.
