My husband and I just returned from a four day stay at Burrowing Owl GuestHouse and I have to say – WOW! If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in a beautiful location, this is it!

My husband and I have travelled extensively in Europe and the Caribbean, but this year we decided to go local. Burrowing Owl Guesthouse was exactly what we needed for a respite from the crazy world of COVID.

We had a room on the upper floor, which had amazing views of the extensive vineyards surrounding the property. We loved the simple and comfortably appointed room that included a complimentary bottle of wine and daily breakfast delivered to our room to be eaten on our patio with a view. Pre-COVID, I understand there is a breakfast buffet area but we actually preferred having our breakfasts being delivered so we could sip coffee and enjoy the incredible spread – which changed daily and included an egg dish, pastry, lots of fruit, granola, juice and coffee – soaking up the sunshine and view from our balcony.

We visited the Burrowing Owl tasting room (excellent experience!) and had dinner in their Sonora Room restaurant one evening (also great!).

We also visited several wineries in the area, then returned to our room in the afternoons to change and hang by the pool with a glass of wine and a good book for a few hours. The pool was a bit on the cool side, so a nice and refreshing cool-down from the heat.

Being an adult only enclave, our stay was incredibly quiet. At night, you can hear the orchestra of crickets playing outside and watch the moon rise over the mountains.

As I mentioned earlier, we have travelled many places – some extraordinarily fancy and some pretty rustic – and we are fairly discerning travellers. We found Burrowing Owl to be perfect for us. In fact, we enjoyed our stay so much that we are already pre-booked for next year!

It is rare to be immersed in an experience wherein the accommodation, together with the dining, come together to provide a peaceful and gastronomic venture.

Our serene and spacious room was peaceful and comfortable in this tranquil setting overlooking the vineyards and rolling hills.

While enjoying a sumptuous breakfast on our deck or sipping one of a variety of Burrowing Owl wines, we were serenaded with the chirping of martins, swallows, juncos, starlings and flycatchers to name a few.

Nicola’s welcoming reception started this wonderful journey, followed by Ingula’s attentive yet not overbearing service, and Christa’s delight during our wine tasting culminated to bring forth a 10/10 experience.

Our dinner at the Senora Room Restraunt was nothing short of exquisite.
The flavours catapulted upon our tastebuds with each morsel; it was truly a divine and tantalizing meal,
….we patiently await what this evenings’ meal has in store for us!

We highly recommend the Burrowing Owl Estate Winery & Guest House.

As Close as you can get to a Florida vacation resort as you will find in Western Canada.
No children, no noice and no drunk party animals. It might feel like a Mexican resort with the warm temperatures, large pool / hot tub but you’ll be missing the ocean breeze. However you will find wave upon wave of vines, and the salt sea air will be replaced by the sweet sent of orchard fruits and sage brush.
The perfect romantic getaway for couples who want to enjoy a peaceful retreat nestled in nature.
We celebrate our 11 Anniversary here in July. It’s a beautiful boutique resort experience, on site gourmet dining, with a mouthwatering breakfast included with every nights stay.
Upon arrival we found a complimentary chilled wine waiting and the on-site winery offers many superior quality vintages for you to sample and buy. Hayden at front desk reception was very obliging and helped us secure rooms for next years celebration. Kelsey in the Sonora Room assured us she will be there to make the breakfast service as enjoyable as it was delicious.

The winery is obviously well known and has good wines. The tasting part of it was good. We traded to get in for lunch and we ware too little too late, what made us quite disappointed and the protocol for wine tasting was not fair or covid-19 friendly. We waited almost 20 minutos to be able to taste and a couple walked in and was able to taste same game as us. The party before us took longer then predicted so even with reservation they left a walk in party bigger then us by 1 person to have the tasting before us. It was quite disappointing to see such a big renowned winery have such discrepancies in their protocols. We left with no wine.

The guest house suites are wonderful. They give you far too much to eat when they drop off breakfast. A bit of a waste of food. It was great to sit on the patio and have breakfast. The wine tour was personal. I had it booked some time in advance but he gave it anyway, great wine

The accommodation was good which included an in room breakfast. What they don't tell you when you book is you don't have a choice for breakfast and you have to pick a set time to have it delivered to your room based on time availability. We were late checking in and therefore got the only open breakfast delivery time of 9:15am. The other issue is the noise when they start delivering the breakfasts at 7:30am. We were woken up every morning at between 7:15 and 7:30am with the sound of the carts rattling along the hallway. We should have known something was strange when we saw the ear plugs provided on the night stands. I understand that during Covid this may have been the only option but come on...get on with normal service. Having said all of that the food was good, and the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant was made up for by the servers and food quality.

Overall an OK experience but I would not stay here again given the noise in the morning.

My husband and I stayed in Burrowing Owl Guest House for 3 nights and it was the highlight of our whole trip to Canada. The service was exceptional. We loved the breakfast delivered to our room each morning and eating it out on the patio. The pool was not only gorgeous, but with only 10 guest houses total, there was never anyone there so felt like we had our own personal pool. The pool is heated by their solar panels, so was so lovely to take a dip in the morning. We also very much enjoyed their wine and had a lovely dinner in their restaurant. We will 100% be back!

My boyfriend and I stopped at this winery on our trip through British Columbia and we’re so glad we did!

The staff we spoke with was very knowledgeable on not only their own wine, but the process it takes to make a good wine and the surrounding area. This is one of the most beautiful estates we’ve seen at a winery and hope to spend more time here in the future. The location with the pool is beautiful, and the staff is very friendly.

My favourite part is that 100% of the profits from wine tastings go to the Burrowing Owl Sanctuary, so you feel good participating as well.

The Burrowing Owl is a charming gem in the Okanagan. Amazing views and immersed in the vineyards!
The suites are sparkling clean and so well designed. You immediately feel comfortable with lovely linens a wonderful patio and the pool area is amazing.
Breakfast delivered to your room so you can enjoy in privacy which we did while sitting on our patio!
The restaurant is 5 star with amazing food and impeccable service. The salmon was the best we have eaten!
The wine is where it’s at. Enjoy a library wine and you will understand why we fell in love with this place.
We will be back!! Well done Burrowing Owl!
