This is a beautiful and quiet place to get away. Incredible views, off the beaten path, perfect place to relax and unwind. We had an amazing time here and it was exactly what we were looking for. Linda was very helpful and even sent us a text when there was wildlife in the area. For those of you who have not been before, here are a few bits of information: the kitchen is shared with the other guests, so if another couple is booked in you will be sharing the space; it is helpful to semi-prepare the first meal in advance so that you can get a sense of the kitchen which has everything we needed (pots, pans, dishes, microwave, stove, etc.); it is a fairly rugged gravel road with a bit of a steep incline - we were totally fine in our Golf; it is a wildlife area; cell reception is excellent, but Internet is limited due to rural restrictions; no television to optimize relaxation; and pet-friendly with permission. We had a fantastic time and highly recommend the High Chaparral Guest House!

Hello Kayasaurus - we are glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your next visit. FYI for future travellers, although the kitchen is shared - each suite has it's own under counter fridge, dishes, cutlery, glasses, mugs etc. There is a propane BBQ with a side burner on the deck and separate outdoor dining areas on the wrap around deck. Thanks for taking the time to write this review. Linda

Remote, private, quiet, and surrounded by nature. This place is a gem. We stayed for 2 nights at this immaculate, cozy, suite. Close to wine tasting and lakes but he perfect end of day retreat with well stocked shared kitchen to prepare your meals in. The views were stunning and the location was perfect. I'll definitely go back.

We stayed here for 6 days in August. Pros: - easy to get to from Oliver - well signed from the road, and Google Maps was able to direct us right there (the nav in our car was not) - great location for touring Penticton and Osoyoos - great patio - nice variety of chairs - 3 different styles to pick from! - no TV's! Wonderful. - well stocked kitchen - good set of equipment, nice set up of shared/not shared items - comfortable bed - great star gazing - 'hitching post' for bikes - great hosts! Very responsive over email, knew the area well, and care for the property Things to be aware of: - we couldn't get the wi-fi to work. We didn't ask to troubleshoot - it was nice to really unplug. But, if you need it, just be aware it's not high speed. - the well water is good for bathing and cooking, but bottled is necessary for drinking. There is plenty supplied. - wasps - We were there late in the season, and they were out in full force. Linda had set up many traps, but we were forced inside to eat many times. - While the kitchen was well stocked with equipment, it was a bit light on some things that I've found common in other guest houses. There were some spices, coffee, tea, sugar - but no liquid condiments. I understand this - there is only so much ketchup/BBQ sauce/mustard small fridges can keep for a season. BYO liquids (including olive oil)! Thanks again for a great stay! We'll be back!

We stayed here for four nights and look forward to returning in September. The access to biking, hiking, wine tasting and gourmet eateries is endless. Linda & Bruce, the owners, have put much thought into ensuring their guests comfort. Thanks to them for sharing their beautiful 80 acre property.

We visited for 3 days in June 2016. It was not yet busy season so we had the whole guest house to ourselves. This retreat is best suited to two couples who know each other due to the shared kitchen and deck amenities. The guesthouse itself has been beautifully constructed and designed with much attention to theme and detail. I was the highlight of our 2 week vacation. Loved this place and would like to go back with other family members some time to share the experience. The hiking and views are awesome on the property. The owner, Linda, gave us our privacy but was attentive if we needed anything.

What an amazing little guesthouse. The views overlooking the valley are beautiful and the peace and quiet was just what we needed. The verandah is lovely to sit on to relax and "just be". Hosts were very attentive and made sure we were comfortable. Cottage was very clean and beautifully decorated. Everything in working order, including the air conditioner. The kitchen is spotless and has everything needed for preparing your own meals. Despite the lovely "isolation", the property is close to the town of Oliver from where a day trip to Penticton and area was very easy.

A great escape from the city. It's a perfect place to wind down and enjoy the peace and quiet and wonderful smells of nature. The surroundings are beautiful and the guest house is lovely. It's designed perfectly to be part of it's natural surroundings. It's clean, comfortable and the shared kitchen offers everything you need to enhance your stay. It's an amazing experience to sit on the patio and look down into the valley and just enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings. We will definitely return.

Came up in early July from Vancouver for a two night stay. An oasis in the hills above Oliver.. Truly a magical and tranquil guest house property with the nicest of innkeepers.. The High Chaparral Guest house was the perfect place to be.. So close to great wineries and amazing restaurants ... Early morning coffee and breakfast in a nicely appointed kitchen felt like home.. It was great coming back to the guest house at the end of a day visiting wineries in the local just a short drive away. Just a beautifully laid out guest house in a peaceful setting, one that I'll definitely come back to again. Highly recommend

Ideally suited for two couples wanting to go on a joint vacation, this beautifully situated guest house has an incredible view. I would recommend to anyone wanting to explore Okanagan wine country but at the same time be able to feel like they were out in the wilderness. Also the beds are amazing!
