Maria and Pedro are such gracious hosts. Though the tree house that we were hoping to occupy wasn't yet ready, we still chose to stay here because of the great location and the friendliness of Maria and Pedro. We had a private room/bathroom that was very spacious and met all of our needs. Guests are welcome to cook in the...

Even though at the end of Puerto Lopez Malecon, it is worth the walk to this excellent hostel. Maria and Pedro are great hosts, and will really pay attention to your needs, so that you feel at home right away. Rooms are big, all equipped with mosquito nets. They are well maintained and the showers are very good. There are...

Really welcoming and right on the beach, this hostal has a lot of charm and is far enough so you won't hear the noises of cars and music. Staff is adorable and there's a really nice terrace with hammocks up in the trees :)

We stayed here for 4 nights while whale watching in Puerto Lopez and loved staying at Monte Libano. The family were very friendly, and between our travellers spanish and their little english, they were super helpful and amazing friendly. Breakfast was cheap, really good and they make the best pancakes!! They looked after my girlfriend when she has sick, made...

Maria and Pedro really make a genuine effort to make sure you find a suitable room and have all you need. There's a variety of room options at Monte Libano, and the hostal is conveniently at one end of town, just past the fishing port. The larger rooms at the back are equipped with a comfortable bed and mosquito nets...

I chose this place somewhat at random, since two other places in my guidebook were full... We were very pleasantly surprised. The hostel is on the far south end of the beach, so very peaceful and away from the noise of the tuk-tuks. We could hear the waves from our room. Our room (the dorm) was very comfortable- I slept...

Loved staying here. The hosts were wondering and helped me book a tour to see whales off the coast. The were also very generous with everything in the hostal. The location is on the south end of the beach and is quiet and peaceful. You can easily walk into town though for whatever you need. The rooms were comfortable and...

We stayed 5 nights at Monte Libano with my wife and were really pleased with the atmosphere and generosity of Maria and her husband Pedro (the owners). 20 minutes after we arrived we shared a meal with the family and this soon became a custom. Breakfast was simply great with different kind of treats every days. The beach is right...

Yes, Maria is lovely but it would not hurt her to clean the place. Her husband seemed to speak English but for some reason did not want to assist us whatsoever. In a nutshell the place is filthy but if you like things funky then it may suit you. It is quiet but quite a walk to town.

We had stayed in a couple of hostals in Puerto Lopez nearer the main Malecon strip and were ready to give up on getting any peace before discovering Monte Libano. Maria and her family made us feel very welcome in this peaceful and beautiful hostal. The terrace with hammocks overlooking the sea was just what we'd hoped to get from...
