I had never been diving before but had always been interested in learning! My boyfriend and I had planned on travelling South East Asia for a couple of weeks before he went to China.. So I saw that as the perfect opportunity to go and learn how to dive! I travelled alone to Semporna, but i got in touch with...

The backpackers place is clean and very well located if you are gonna dive with the same comapany. Not as fancy as the Mabul Resort, of course, but still decent and nice for a backpackers. We stayed three nights and was ok. The experience with Scuba Junkie depends mostly in who is your instructor. We did two snorkeling trips with...

We stayed at the lodge next to the dive shop before heading out for 2 nights on Mabul. Well we regretted it so much because we got no sleep and this ruined the first two days diving at Mabul as we tried to recover. It was an endurance to get through the diving rather than being a relaxing pleasurable experience....

The photos posted are of their Mabul resort - an entirely different island (and different Trip Advisor page)!!! This review is for the backpacker accommodation on Semporna (the mainland if you will). An adequate place to stay if you just want to dive. If you are with someone who doesn't dive, splurge for the Mabul location. Rooms are basic no...

We did three fun dives with Scuba Junkie at Mataking Island and had a great experience. It was our first fun dives after we got certified and our dive instructor, Ashleigh, was very professional and took very good care of us. Good equipment, friendly staff and people on the boat. We did not book in advance so we were told...

I tried to book a stay at Scuba Junkies' Mabul resort, but as it was fully booked, had to settle for the Semporna hostel (eventually I did manage to get a bed from Mabul for one night, but more of that in a separate review). First of all; the photos you see here are NOT from Semporna, they are from...

Ideal base for either diving/snorkelling or a one-nighter before/after Mabul. The WiFi could have been stronger but place was very clean, spacious, good showers and great restaurant. Found beer expensive but staff VERY helpful and approachable, especially with sorting onward travel. I want to thank SJ for keeping the BACKPACKER ETHOS strong and offering very good value and clean accommodation...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Unfortunately we left it too late to go snorkelling around Sipidan, however we organised a trip to Sibuan through Scuba Junkie which was fantastic. We were taken to 3 different snorkelling spots and told the area to swim in to spot the turtles etc (saw a sting ray too) Food was provided on the...

I had to stay at Scuba Junkie's Semporna Hotel, as my plane arrived too late for a transfer same day to Mabul. The good thing is that the hostel is just next to Scuba Junkie diving operator, so very convenient if you dive with them. However, I found ridiculous to have to pay a deposit to get a towel !...

My partner and I stayed with Scuba Junkies from the 13th-18th of October. The two of us have dived with many dive operators over the years, both resort and live aboard; throughout 14 countries. A lot of the trips we do, are documented and passed on to our Dive club members and friends, so you could say I had high...
