Our family of 3 and our "pod" mate family of 4 went together to Bodhi and had such an awesome time. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the lodge meant that our kids (9,9 & 5) felt comfortable exploring the property on their own and we parents knew they were safe. The kids enjoyed spending time with Travis and Pilar's daughters and their pets. The staff were very engaged with all of us, but the chef, Fanny, made a special impression on the kids. In the midst of her work, she found time to forge an individual connection with each of the kids. They are all in spanish immersion school, so they were able to practice their spanish with her. My kid for one still says "the best thing about Costa Rica was Fanny!" This is not to say the other staff weren't also incredible! They were all very encouraging and positive with everyone throughout our stay. Three of the four adults started surfing during the pandemic but we were mostly self-taught. It was nice that Travis and Spencer and Adrienne met us where we each were and furthered our knowledge by tailoring the lessons to us. This was not a one-size fits all situation, which made it so much better. We learned so much. Now applying it at our home break - in Northern California with 50 degree water - is a different challenge! But all of the encouragement and confidence from our stay at Bodhi will help us for sure. The Pura Vida energy we felt from the Bodhi folks and the community members in Uvita made the trip so special. It was nice to feel a part of the community rather than dropping in from the outside and never really having any experience of what real life there is like. Bodhi makes a real effort to use travel as a chance for learning and growth, as well as making it mutually beneficial for their community. It's a win-win-win. Go to Bodhi!!

There isn’t much to add to all the great previous comments! We (small fam of 3 with a 3yo) too spent a wonderful week at Bodhi and are only dreaming about coming back soon. We felt welcome and supported from even before the trip started to after it finished. Not only does the team put everything together to create a sustainable (as much as flying -in our case- from Europe by air allows) way to travel, but we were also impressed by how both staff and owners are able to keep the passion and drive intact week after week. Quality of the surf and yoga sessions were outstanding. Just like the lessons, the place itself is managed and taken care of in such an intelligent and respectful way. We loved every second of it! This was my first solo trip and as a woman, I was nervous to travel alone especially in our current climate but this turned out to be the best trip of my life! I can’t say enough good things about the founders Travis and Pilar and of course, Fanny, the chef extraordinaire who manages to make healthy food taste naughty and is is generally an amazing human being and hostess. All of these of people have so much heart, it’ll warm yours through and through. The grounds are stunning, the charming little town, Uvita is pure magic and the Surf and Yoga camp was so much more than I anticipated. Prior to this trip, I had only surfed once which resulted in a near concussion in Tamarindo after a careless instructor unleashed a pack of us noobs into the ocean at once after a 5 min intro of what surfing was all about. THIS was nothing like it. Travis is a true professional who approaches the sport from Both a Spiritual and scientific perspective and will ensure that you are always ready for the next step prior to proceeding. Within my group, the age of participants ranged from 8 -70 yrs old and ALL were catching waves on their own by the end of the course, with no prior experience for the most part. Asides from turning Unlikely candidates into surfers, Travis was also one of the most accommodating and welcoming hosts I hand ever met. Going out of his way to ensure the guests never felt far from home. As for the yoga program, headed by Pilar, (who I’m convinced is part angel), it will leave you feeling so relaxed you may not recognize yourself but it will also challenge your body and will definitely feel like a workout at the same time. I had taken yoga classes on and off for years but really had only began to understand the principles here because Pilar will take the time to explain the foundations of the movements, their spiritual root within the practice and help to unite your body with your spirit. As I write this, I realize it comes across a little woo-woo but this trip was very much a Spiritual experience for me and refueled me at a time when I felt too depleted to function. I really hope you too will get to see this place and when you do, it will be one the best experiences of your life. This place really is an oasis and the amazing human beings within it, will foster and experience unlike any other. Somehow In just a span of a few days, these people will begin to feel like family and this place like home. I am so grateful to have come across this little gem and will most certainly be back!!!

Bodhi exceeded my expectations. I could go on about how great the accommodations are. Or about how delicious the food is, or how amazing the yoga and surfing lessons are. Truly, it was all amazing. But as they say, the people make the place. The owners, the staff, the instructors…all made me feel welcome and I felt at home immediately. From the first email, right through until check out, everyone was present, helpful and grateful. These are people who are passionate about what they do. You cannot go wrong by choosing Bodhi for you surf and yoga vacation. I say just go. It will be a vacation of a lifetime.
