What makes a memorable stay at a location is the food, comfort, and a wonderful view---and this place has all of it. The food is top quality and heavenly...our favourite was the jumbo cocktail shrimp! The drinks are fantastic & I would recommend trying the signature drinks such as the Shark, Whale, Seahorse, and Dolphin. The place is only a...

The drive up the mountain looks treacherous, but is pretty typical of the Costa Rican roads that I experienced. The hotel is beautifully located 1 km up the mountain from Uvita Beach and the Whales tail (only visible at low tide). The hotel itself has been redone by the new owners and they've done an incredible job! The dining room,...

Stopped by Whales and Dolphins because we heard the views were great. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing about the place. 'Ecolodge' must be a loosely used term in Costa Rica, because the water tanks in their parking lot were overflowing the entire time we were there. We mentioned it to the front desk (maybe someone didn't notice?) and they...

After a challenging 10 minute drive up a very steep rock and gravel road, we were anxious to stay at this place (Ecolodge? No, it's a rundown hotel), located on the west slope overlooking Bahia Ballena and the Whale's Tail. Although the view did not disappoint, everything else did. We were greeted by Raoul (the only pleasant part of this...

My boyfriend and I went to Whales and Dolphins for dinner and drinks -- twice. We couldn't get enough of the view! Food was great, service was wonderful. Johnny was awesome! Even let us cool off in the pool before dinner, set us up with complimentary towels, even though we were staying at a local hostel. Strongly recommend to watch...

My husband and I went here with some friends for sunset drinks and Bocas. Let me tell you, the view was BEAUTIFUL! We ordered drinks (you HAVE to have the Whale! I had a couple! LOL). Then we ordered bocas. My husband and I had chicken fingers and fries and our friends had fish fingers and nachos. Delicious! And so...

This is an exceptional find. If visiting the southwest coast of Costa Rica near Dominical, Uvita, or Ojochal, this property is well worth your consideration. It was recently purchased and renovated (circa December 2012) and has an incredible view of the "tail" and a terrific chef serving up fresh and tasty local cuisine. The staff are very attentive and anxious...

We recently spent two nights and Whales & Dolphins. I gave it 4 stars because of the view and the staff. The beds etc were comfy and the room clean. The room could use a little tlc. It was a little overpriced but the view was incredible! We had such great service all through Costa Rica but I especially appreciated...

This was the last leg of a great vacation for 4 of us. The Whales & Dolphins Ecolodge was intimate and the staff made our stay wonderful. Johnny and his staff were friendly and engaging. We relaxed every evening with a great meal made with fresh ingredients, a swim, and beautiful views of the Bellena Whales Tail. In the morning...

This is an incredible place to stay if you just want to get away from it all and enjoy what Costa Rica really has to offer. The view from the hotel is magnificent the food at the restaurant is fabulous and the house drinks are amazing (you have to try the Seahorse!). The staff and the owners are incredibly friendly...
