This is our 5th visit to Avra. There are steps you need to be aware. However there is nothing else negative to say. The couple running Avra are kind and friendly. We always stay in a room at the top with a sea view. The room is clean, comfy bed, kettle and fridge. Also air conditioning. Shower/shampoo and soap provided, also a hairdryer. It is peaceful but near to town to be accessible (don't forget its hilly!) If you have a big appetite I suggest you order breakfast, it will set you up for the day!! We love it here.

We have been going to Agia Galini for a few years and also like to visit my small “Hotel AVRA”. In September I was there alone for a few days. And it's like coming home. The two take self-sacrificing care of their hotel . It is super well maintained and the rooms are cleaned regularly. Add to that the nice but not intrusive nature of the two owners. Much has been written about the costs , climate incl., water incl. . Drinks almost at cost price! Breakfast , good ,tasty and affordable . I live this simple place at the upper part of the place .

We had a wonderful stay in Avra. Located in charming Agia Galini on a hillside, it's a good location to explore beaches of the southern Crete. Hotel is small, charming, with a super friendly owners. Breakfast is so huge that we couldn't finish it.

Very Good value for price. Continental breakfast served on tray, various and greedy. Room (tidied up everyday! fresh towels, linen and body cleansers... not common in Crete) with a small balcony and a nice sea view. Owned by a super-gentle young couple. Go indeed!

We stayed here for only 1 night during our travels round Crete. The location is great, up a hill just outside the main village, so was only a 10 minute walk in (harder work coming back up the hill!) Our room was basic but clean, and the bathroom could be updated, and the balconies were not private (the rooms all look over one another) however for the ridiculous cheap price we paid for the night which included a fantastic breakfast it was well worth it. The staff were really friendly and helpful. If you are looking for somewhere just as a base to explore the area, then this represents great value for money. Agia gallini itself is a lovely village, especially at night when all the back streets come alive. Overall a great stay and I would recommend to anyone who wants good value for money for a good location and fantastic breakfast and friendly staff.

Avra is a family owned hotel where you feel like home. The rooms are very nice, they have just been renovated (new furniture, comfortable bad, bathroom is small but very nice). The room we stayed in had a small balcony with garden view.
The staff (owners) are very helpful. I enjoyed a lot the breakfast, some of the dishes are home made and they are incredible.
The hotel is situated at a 7 minute walk to beach and 5 minute walk to the port (where the restaurants and bars are).
Parking is available in front of the hotel. The price/quality ratio is very appealing
I would definitely stay again in Avra.
