I visited this place for a wedding, food was nice(nothing to say)but the venue and the garden are not great. The sweet table was disappointing(the most of the sweets tasted the same and I had a couple of pasticcini with spoiled cream(I know,it was so hot,but for the price the couple spent a spotless quality was expected).I have nuts allergy and nothing to say about the precautions taken from the maitre,he also gave me a meat option since I don't like fish for a secondo(for americans/Britons secondo is the main).
The San Tommaso Hotel is a 5-minutes drive away from Polignano. The historic building is situated in a park-like garden and from the terrace you can enjoy the sea view. It felt a bit like in a small palace and our room was huge with a modern interior and a great view from the bathroom window. However the hotel is more a meeting and event venue and therefore lacks ambiance. At the time of our stay a wedding took place, which we only got informed after we already have made the booking. However the wedding party finished early and we were out anyway, so we didn’t experience any night-time disturbances. If you like to know more about the hotel and surroundings check also on traveltreasuresbymarion. Breakfast was typical Italian style. Staff was unfortunately not very friendly and we didn´t feel very welcomed.…
We did the reservation in the hotel through hotels.com, and when we arrived at the hotel after a long car trip, the man in the reception (who knew something about the hotel systems) said he couldn't find our reservation. He called a woman who tried to "solve" the issue sending us to a much worst hotel (but for the same price). After a long time arguing with the staff (who prooly speak English), we called hotels.com. Hotels.com tried to speak with the hotel staff but they simply hung up the phone saying everything was solved (that wasn't true). At the end, hotels.com sent us to a much better hotel (for the same price). Gratefully, hotels.com is a serious company.
Repeating what others have written, this is primarily a wedding venue, and staff told us that they have weddings every day, sometimes two at a time. We didn't mind these as they were not too noisy and ended at a respectable hour. If you don't mind that, the grounds, rooms and staff are all great, and the breakfast, by Italian standard which we found generally low, is quite acceptable. Only one thing. The ad says there is a restaurant, which it turns out is in a sister hotel in Polignano, so no reason to eat there, when there is so much else to choose from in the town itself.
Guests BEWARE- The hotel grounds and rooms are gorgeous; however, the hotel has weddings EVERY NIGHT, and this seems to be their main priority. The music is very loud and obnoxious. The hotel owners need to decide if they want this to be a wedding venue or hotel. If you don’t mind loud music, and spotty WiFi then this is perfect! The staff is very nice and it is a very close tuk-tuk ride (5€), to the city center to see the beautiful Polignano a mare. Ciao!
