Out. Neatly laid tables with their linen and map of Ireland placemats used to plan our days out.
In.Easily sanitised wood and glass
Out.Bernies homemade treats Tea Coffee sugar bowl and fresh milk jug on the hospitality tray
In. Hermetically sealed packets of biscuits and nibbles. Ready beverages in sealed sachets and single use disposable paper cups.and personal alcohol gel alongside the bottled water
Out.The odd cosy evening round the kitchen tabel in front of the stove with a bottle of something
In. Social isolation in the guest lounge in front of a roaring fire (with a bottle of something)
Out. The warm hug and firm handshake on arrival
In. Bernie weilding remote infra red thernometer and hand sanitiser.

It doesn't matter. The welcome is as warm and genuine as ever and the hospitality still unsurpassed. Despite the added burden of staying virus proof they still find the time and energy to go the extra mile to make their guest cmfortable and at home.

If Covid-19 ever takes hold here the human race is doomed.

We'll be back somtime next year as usual God willing.

I was born and raised in the Loup and my family home is very local to the Clearwater Guesthouse. My immediate family is growing year on year with new babies and husbands in tow so my girlfriend, Hannah, and I were decamped to the Clearwater House on our return home for Christmas. Hannah and I are seasoned travellers but the hospitality of Bernie and Robert is absolutely unparalleled amongst everywhere we have stayed. The experience feels more like staying with family than in a B&B. We were amazed how even over Christmas Bernie and Robert bent over backwards to accommodate us and most recently my girlfriend's parents who visited from California. The room is spotless and cosy, the showers are hot and the breakfast is delicious and endless in portion. The Clearwater is now a home away from home for us now at Christmas and we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Thank you Bernie and Robert!

Arrived at clearwater House.
Saw the welcoming lights of the house as we drove down the drive. Bernie waiting with beaming smile and "Do you want a drink or something to eat after your journey? It's no trouble."

So what makes it special ? Well it was 3:00am !
We'd phoned ahead to say the ferry had been cancelled and were told not worry everything would be O.K.
Bernie explained that she couldn't go to bed until she was sure we had arrived safely and were comfortable and tucked up in bed in our room.
"Breakfast will be when you get up. We'll hear you"
And so it was, at 12:30 pm.

There are no superlatives that haven't already been used in other reviews..

Just go there and experience Irish hospitality at it's best for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Once again Bernie and Rob have worked their gentle Irish magic to give us an idyllic stress free week.

Intending visitors should be ready to resist attempts to force feed you with breakfast and bury you under a daily mountain of clean towels (we averaged five a day, towels not veg)

Clearwater house is exactly as it was when we first visited years ago, proving you can't improve on perfection.

Never was it truer that you arrive as guests and leave as friends

My husband and I returned to this wonderful B&B for the 3rd time in Oct12. Once again the welcome Bernie and Robert gave us was second to none, nothing is too much trouble for them,
they are indeed the perfect hosts.
The bedrooms are spacious clean and with everything you need, for a comfortable stay.
We now come to the breakfasts, what can we say, fantastic, a true Irish breakfast, which sets you
up for the day.
We are already planning to return next year.

I stayed in Clearwater House for 3 weeks whilst studying in nearby Moneymore. I couldn't have hoped for a better experience than I received staying here. Bernie and Robert are fantastic hosts, going out of their way to help in any way they could. My room was spacious, very clean and lovely and cosy. Breakfast was always great, with a wide range of options available. Nothing was too much trouble and I couldn't have been made feel any more welcome. A true home from home. Cannot recommend highly enough.

We stayed at Clearwater House for four nights, using it as a base from which to explore Northern Ireland. I suspect that Bernie might not be happy with some of our comments, so I should say at the outset that this is an excellent basic B&B and that we are comparing it with some that charge double the £60 that Bernie and Robert charge. Let’s deal with the positives first. Bernie went out of her way to be helpful. She left cakes for us every day and switched on the central heating so that we could dry our clothes when we returned rather wet from a day at the Giant’s Causeway. The excellent TV (much bigger screen than many more expensive places) and the free wifi were also bonuses. Breakfast was fine if you wanted a full Irish, but choice was limited if you didn’t want a cooked breakfast. The room was average, but the bed a little smaller than we are used to. The towels were a bit on the thin side (though there were plenty of them at our disposal). Overall, Clearwater House is good value for money and an excellent place to stay if you are looking for a budget place to stay in this area.

We booked Clearwater House for a wedding we were attending near by and did so because of the amount of positive ratings and reviews it had received on Tripadvisor. I can gladly say we were not disappointed! From the moment we arrived Bernie and Robert where so welcoming, nothing was too much trouble including running us into the nearby town centre. Another thing I was looking forward too from the reviews alone was the breakfast that was included in the very reasonable rate. Wow.... the breakfast was delicious, I opted for the rather massive full Irish breakfast this is not to be missed it will cure all hangovers or set you up for the day ahead.
The bedroom was spacious, very clean and very comfortable and it was the little touches that made Clearwater House stand out above the rest, such as the bottles of water Bernie put in our room knowing we had a long alcohol filled day at the wedding and would be in need of a drink through the night.
A Personal thank you from Emma and Mark and if we are ever over again we will be sure to book with you!
