We stayed three nights with Jenny at the Ashdale. The rooms were clean and comfortable, very good bed. We had a separate bathroom, with a bath which was a luxury for soaking after a day walking.
Easy to find from the station, good directions.

Always wanted to take the West Highland train line journey ending in Mallaig and catching the breathtaking beautiful scenery including famous Glenfinnan Viaduct on the way. Booked a B&B online road-to-the-isles site. Ashdale BB appeared really pretty and tasteful on photos and after sending an enquiry received a very pleasant reply in the same day. We were not disappointed at all! It looks even better in real life than on pictures. Service was fantastic and friendly and Hostess Heather a real asset to their family business. BB is in a really good condition, very tasteful decor, comfortable and very clean. An excellent attention to detail and very handy central location ( less than 5 minutes from the Harbor and train station and all the places to eat and shops very near) . I would most definitely wish to return there one day.

Had a lovely stay at this B&B. Heather was most attentive and welcoming. The room was very stylish and the whiskey decanter was a lovely touch. Breakfast was excellent. I would certainly stay there again. The views across to Skye from the bedroom window was magical.

Adequate but not what we hoped for.
Jenny was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was OK. Room was clean and tidy and bed remade and towels folded each day.
Just lacked that je ne sais quoi. Next time we will stay elsewhere.

I arrived early with my wife after a journey from Skye, on arrival, parking areas and gardens are in poor condition. in we went our hosts could not have been nicer , we were a bit early and it wasn't a problem.

We were shown to the room with the adjacent bathroom, we didn't feel this was a problem, bathroom was a decent size and the bath lovely, its a bit of a shame so many of the floor tiles were either broken or loose, bathroom however was clean enough except for the dated dried flowers hanging over the bath.

The bedroom was small with a small double and a single bed crammed in the decor is cold compared to the pictures, no fresh flowers and the driftwood frame has gone from the wall. the bed was ok the duvet poor and needing replaced. the television screen high on the wall was so small it was hard to see! and the picture was terrible! looking out the window wasn't any better, its a sham with all the amazing scenery around we had to look on to an unkept scrapyard! Tea / coffee facilities, a joke! so dated no fresh milk or hot chocolate option! after all this we did however sleep ok.

Breakfast, we had been asked on arrival what we would like! i found this peculiar even more peculiar is having breakfast in the hosts living room. no small tv in there! shame it wasn't on to create some atmosphere. We were offered cereal there was none on display no fruit no choice of juice, toast was promptly brought out, fine if you like the cheapest brown bread toasted an served cold before your breakfast, i had kippers they were reasonable and poached eggs, which were not poached but savaged in a microwave, my wife had a full breakfast, cheap badly cooked bacon a tomato halved and a fried egg, very very poor.

i would not recommend this accommodation to anyone.

When we booked this B&B we were not aware that it had recently changed ownership. In essence the previous owner Heather, has moved to the Moorings which did belong to Jenny who now runs Ashdale ( a B&B swap).
The place was reasonably clean and breakfast was ok but it felt like going back in time so some extent - shared breakfast table, minimal choice of cereal proffered. The bed wasn't particularly comfortable nor were the pillows.
In hindsight we would have been better booking the Moorings, as that is now getting excellent reviews. That said Jenny was welcoming but breakfast service was exceptionally slow, especially as we had prebooked the early ferry to Skye.

Room location amenities were very fine. We just did not feel comfortable that the breakfast was served late and slowly when we wanted to leave as early as possible to take the boat to Skye. We also found it expensive for what it offers. Really sorry but we would recommend someone to stay there if it is the only option.

All the rooms are totally clean, the place is in the center and has its own parking space. Heather is a very great host with recommendations for dinner in Mallaig and sightseeing in the region. 200 % recommended.

Stayed 1 night on 9th June. Travelled from on train from Edinburgh using Scotrail over 55 ticket - £19 return. We had booked Ashdale after reading reviews on Tripadvisor.
On arrival we were made very welcome by Heather and felt at home. We had booked the front rom which has a breathtaking view across to Skye, Rhum and Eigg. Tea making facility and a small decanter of whisky in the room. The full cooked breakfast in the morning served in the kitchen set us up for the day ahead. Would recommend the Ashdale to anyone looking for a quality B & B.

We stayed 3 nights in May 2014 and from the first moment we felt so fine. Thank you, Heather, not only for the delicious vegetarian breakfast and the clean and beautiful decorated room. It was your kindness that made our journey to Scotland a very special holiday. We will definitely come again! Kind regards, Birgit and Harald
