My wife and I were doing a Staycation this year in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland.

As we were travelling from Cairnryan Port to the Isle of Skye we decided to overnight at Mallaig and catch the ferry to the island the next morning.

We booked the Marine Hotel based on the reviews and the photos and were not disappointed. The Hotel is centrally located and although it may not look much from the outside it was beautifully presented inside.

Our room was a Twin at the rear of the Hotel and we found the beds and pillows to be some of the most comfortable during our 8 day tour.

The staff were very helpful with the receptionist even getting me a private parking space for my car in front of the hotel.

The only downside from our visit to Mallaig was the lack of an evening meal in any of the local restaurants or hotels - everywhere was either not doing food or fully booked.

My wife and I decided on a short break to one of our favourite places, Mallaig. We booked into the Marine Hotel on a B&B basis.
The Hotel was absolutely spotlessly clean and the room we had was very comfortable and a good size with views to the station and across to the Samll Isles.
Breakfast was excellent witha good choice. The Covid-19 policies were first class with hand sanitiser etc avsailable throughout. Breakfast was ordered the day before and was served at a time picked by yourself.
The young chap on reception was welcoming and very pleasant, with nothing being an issue for him.
Private parking was available in fron of the Hotel.

The only slight downside which was due to the current situation, was that there was no Bar facilities, howvere there are othe bars in Mallaig.

We stayed for two nights in a recently refurbished room with lovely views of the harbour. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast, which was pre-booked, was excellent value for money. The hotel was minutes away from some good restaurants and helpfully offered us 10% off vouchers for the Chachlain Inn which was excellent.

We stayed here twice because it is so well placed for people planning to use a ferry from Mallaig. The accomodation is all up at least one flight of stairs but the two differnent rooms that we had benefitted from views of either the harbour or the Small Isles. The staff were extremely helpful. Covid regulations were well delivered but the bar was closed in consequence. We expect to book again for next year's visit to the Inner Hebrides.

This was the best option for a location with fairly limited availability. It was a lot bigger than it looked on the outside and was fully booked, but was surprisingly quiet. We were told before arriving at the hotel that unfortunately the chef was not available for breakfast so were refunded a part of the cost due to the lack of it. Very limited parking for such a big hotel, but we managed to bag a spot luckily. Very conveniently located and a couple of great options for food nearby and a great pub around the corner too. Convenient for the ferry port too if you are heading over to Skye or the small islands.

The view from the window of the bedroom was a wall! About 6 inches away from the window. The bathroom window looked over the railway station, which gave us an alarm call at 6am the following morning when the train that must have been stabled there overnight started up. Luckily we had an early start that day anyway....

We highly recommend The Marine Hotel for your stay in Mallaig. Jacqueline, Emma and her whole team were excellent at making us feel welcome throughout our stay.
Our train arrived on time, but too early for check-in so thought we would ask if we could leave our luggage. Jacqueline advised as our room was ready we were able to check in, with no hassles😁
En-suite double room with sea view was excellent, very clean, and comfortable and cozy bed and linen was excellent. Bathroom with shower was a very good size, and great heating throughout.
Breakfasts were fab, great choice of menu and pre-booking the day before made running of breakfast time very smooth. (Never thought I would like a pre book system) but this has certainly changed my mind!
Excellent location for touring around and for the ferries with the harbour right on your doorstep and bus location too very nearby.

As the weather was not the best our ferry crossing to Skye was cancelled (but the hotel hosting and surrounding scenery more than made up for that) and just jumped on the next train for a day trip to Arisaig.

Me and husband will definitely be back in the Spring to make the ferry crossing this time and well definitely make the Marine Hotel our first choice to stay!

Spent 3 nights here , July 2021 . Room was very pleasant and spotlessly clean .
Breakfast was really nice , the staff were friendly and helpful.
We travelled up by train and the hotel is situated right next to to the station , it’s also a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal .
We will definitely use this hotel again and mallaig is well worth a visit for anyone considering a west coast break .

A little overpriced I felt. Basic, very clean though. Location very good, very close to station - sadly meant we were woken at 5:40 AM by the 1st train! Hotel did supply ear plugs, which I used and fell out.
Breakfast good, knowledges of gluten free foods.
A little impersonal as requests for breakfast were written on sheet, probably safer during covid- left a little impersonal touch

I would most definitely recommend the Marine Hotel, great location, comfy beds, amazing breakfast and very friendly staff.
On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming and check in was quick, just what we needed after a long car journey!
The room we stayed in was a family room, was a great size and spotlessly clean with very comfortable beds, it looked like the hotel has maybe recently been refurbished.
Breakfast the next morning was tasty and again nothing was to much trouble. The location of this hotel is brilliant, right beside the train station and ferry terminal. Definitely recommend this hotel and we will definitely stay again!

Central Hotel in small fishing port town of Mallaig
Set above retail outlets so only reception area on ground floor. Its a 60s/ 70s retro style building but the owners have tastefully decorated as much as they can. I would advise that carpets in hallways would give it a more luxurious feel.
The room however was spacious enough although bathroom and shower small if you're on the large side.
Right next to train station and there are lots of noisy seagulls as you would expect in a fishing town, although earplugs were provided which was nice touch. Breakfast can be preordered which I love meaning no unnecessary waiting around.
Price a little on the high side but in line with what other establishments are charging at the moment. I believe this is because of reduced capacity and a very busy season!
Owners extremely helpful .
