I stayed for one night as a quick stop off to explore Skye and because I struggled to find any other reasonably priced accomodation in the area. For the 1 night £30 was reasonable, getting a private room with sink and access to the shared bathroom facilities. The room was small but fine for 1 and did have a wardrobe I could put by bag in.

The bed was reasonable, although could be a bit more comfortable and the cleanliness, including in the communal bathroom and shower was great as this was my biggest concern staying in a budget accomodation like this. There was also plenty of soap provided which was good, and the water tempurature was good, although keep in mind a towel is not provided (can be added for £1 I believe). I didn't use the other shared facilities (lounge or kitchen).

I didn't meet the staff in person but I did call to request a late checkin which they were able to accomodate and they were very good at communication by text message. I couldn't fault the location either with access to the train station and ferries, although it was a bit confusing that I did wonder around a bit before realising I needed to enter a random corridor with a bookshop to get in!

I had read reviews I was concerned about the noise but earplugs were provided, and I heard no one after my arrival (around 11pm) and wasn't woken by noise in the morning either. I probably wouldn't want to stay more than a night or two.

Stayed here for a few nights in July, used Mallaig as a base to explore the area. Most accommodation in this area is extortionately priced so it's good to see a more budget option available.
Hostel is basic but fine for no frills stays. Just across the road from the train station. Kitchen was closed but we were able to use our camping stove on the outside terrace. Watch out for seagulls on the terrace! Shared bathrooms good, nice pressure on shower and hot water. It was a little noisy with the lino floor and doors closing but nothing earplugs won't fix if you are a light sleeper.

Location was perfect just next to the harbour. The room and facilities were very clean. The people who run it are amazing. They let us check in early and when I realised I had left my jeans at the hostel after leaving Mallaig, they sent them to my address in Glasgow free of charge. Would recommend to anyone looking for budget accommodation on the west coast.

Accommodation in Mallaig is overpriced and the hostal is no exception. (The price of the hostal was the same as a plush double room in Inverness or a basic double in an Edinburgh hotel). We chose the hostal as we were arriving late and leaving early and it was the cheapest in town. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. The room was basic and clean- beds could be more comfortable. Shared bathrooms were clean and fine to use. Very well sited for an early ferry or train. The hostal seems to have some long term residents and so may not be everyones cup of tea. No carpets so can be echoey. Basic, clean and with friendly staff, who are the redeeming feature.

We’re in our 70s but this was no bunkhouse in the usual sense. It was 100% perfect in every way - room, facilities, space. Maybe above all it was the Manager who made us so welcome; nothing was too much trouble for her and the little touches counted a lot, such as tea, coffee, milk etc all being freely available.
We thoroughly recommend the Mission Bunkhouse and hope very much to stay there again on our return next year.

Fantastic and clear communication in the booking process and we were greeted with a warm welcome on arrival.

We booked very last minute due to our cancelled ferry to Knoydart and we were so thankful they had space for our Girls on Hills group of 12 for the night.

A cosy living space and fully equipped modern kitchen had plenty of space for us to cook and relax. Beds were comfy and you could even hire towels too. And it was a perfect location to walk to the shop and pub!

Definitely recommend staying here.

Basic, but clean & pleasant. Large kitchen & lounge area with all facilities, great for travellers & families. Lovely manager, very pleasant. Great location, especially if thinking of getting over to Skye, literally 2 min walk from ferry terminal. Parking was at main car park as you enter Mallaig, again 5 min walk.

Welcome / Value / Quality must be 5 Stars for the price.
I find it difficult to understand why it would be lower- although most likely folk wanting the hotel experience and personal facilities - so be warned this is hostel style accommodation. Manager was a great ambassador of Mallaig and the surrounding area.

I came here straight off the long ferry journey from Lochboisdale, South Uist after a week in the Outer Hebrides. I didn't really know what to expect as never stayed in a hostel before. All other accommodation very overpriced. A short walk from the ferryport. I was able to drop off my heavy rucksack and get the bus to Glenfinnan a few minutes walk away from the Mission. Small but clean bed, sink, communal facilities ok, showers very clean, toilets a bit 'hit and miss'...! Really recommend bus journey to Glenfinnan, beautiful scenery and under £5 :) When I got back just went to bed. Although right in centre only noise was the Co-op getting deliveries in the morning. Everything you need is there, and not overpriced. I grabbed a coffee and some Emoire biscuits in the morning from Cafe Mallaig below and boarded the boat to Knoydart. Will use the hostel again very impressed overall

Perfect location across from the train station and next to the ferry terminal.
Friendly staff, nice room. My only complaint was the credit card reader was broken, I didn't have enough cash to pay, and I spent an hour of my time finding a friend who could send payment via PayPal which they were accepting. That cost a lot more due to overseas fees and was quite annoying.

Hi, I am afraid we are not connected with the Bunkhouse at all. I do know, however, that the bunkhouse is closed until the 7th of January. Thanks
