Lots of little things point to a run-down place: the lock to our door barely worked. The TV didn’t work. The smoke detector was hanging from the ceiling by its wires. The closet door was off its rails and wouldn’t open. Someone else’s clothing was in the dresser. While there was a hot water heater in the room, the shower ran cold after one person. The important stuff was good: the room was clean and the bed was reasonably comfortable.

While we felt that the room was clean and the price was good, and the staff member at the front was kind and helpful, there were a few things that could really improve.  1. There were people smoking weed in the corner of your property and when they were done they got in their car and left. 2. There was an old man who looked like he fell out of his wheel chair with a can of pam beside him... was he breathing it? He was also yelling into his phone.  3. someone was smoking directly outside the front door is really unprofessional. Having to walk through a cloud of smoke is awful.  4. The establishment is rated as 4 stars on google and it is VERY misleading.  Finally, the bed that we slept in was TERRIBLE. We travelled around the world and slept in so many beds. Yours really was one of the worst. I couldn't sleep on it as I would literally bounce every-time my husband shifted so had to sleep on the couch all night. Then at 12:30 I listened to the person upstairs walk back and forth for probably an hour.  5. Oh and it was so hot! No AC in our room. I will not be staying at this establishment again. I will not be recommending it to anyone.

Lake Cowichan Lodge offers clean and comfortable rooms (we had booked a two queen bedrooms suite) not far from Cowichan Lake. Save for the pouring rain on the night we spent there, we could have gone for dinner on foot. Suite was equipped with a full kitchen and could have been appropriate for an extended stay. Good value for money.

This is a tired, older motel style hotel on the edge of Lake Cowichan townsite. The location is good if you are visiting family or enroute to the West Coast of Vancouver Island, right beside the highway. The rooms are very basic with choice of one or two sleeping areas. Ours had a fridge , stove , coffee maker. We had friends who lived here for 3 weeks while finding a new home so it is doable. The staff were friendly, the parking is free. No breakfast but Tim Horton's is close by. In this area there is really no other choice unless you want to stay over a pub.

We recently stayed at the lodge and was impressed with the friendliness of this family owned lodge. It was very clean and quiet. Our suite included fridge, stove, microwave and coffee maker. As well as utensils. Would be great for families.

The telephone wake up call was set for 4:45 am and it rang every morning for 3 mornings. The owner did not know how to disconnect it. The toilet was broken and overflowed. We could not find the owner and when we did he was confused that we asked him to fix it. He did not offer to wash the floor. The walls are paper thin. The full kitchen had a bar sized fridge.

Typical a motel for working people who come and go. Nothing is especially luxurious. But everything is there, it is clean and it works. If you expect nothing more than a clean room, a good bed and a shower, then this is a perfect place.

We only spent one night here, but we could fine absolutely no fault with the accommodation. The room was clean, spacious and quiet. There was a separate bedroom with a comfortable mattress and a kitchen area so we could prepare a light meal. The proprietors were very friendly and happily accommodated our requests. I would classify this as a “budget” hotel, so don’t expect a lot of frills. But we were very happy with our stay and felt it was good value for the price.

Arrived for a hockey tournament ( I had booked 2 months in advance and requested a pet friendly room) 2 days before I called and confirmed ..all was good I checked in everything was fine Filled out a form(nothing that mentions pets) room was ice cold .... there expecting a full house and to cheap to turn the heat on in the rooms? It took hours to warm up We took the dogs out for there bed time pee and when we came back in the manager was at the door and gives a dirty look “YOU HAVE DOGS?” I said yes? Why we have a pet room? He replies No you not in pet friendly room! I have a sign that says you must declare pets or $450 fine! I said excuse me but I asked for pet friendly 2 months ago as well as confirmed 2 day prior I did not see a sign in the reception area nor was. I looking for one as I had Reserved PET FRIENDLY and they actually charged me an extra $10 per night for my son to be in the room with me So then he says ok you can stay in the room but I had to pay an additional $60 plus a $450 deposit😫 Seriously it’s right after Christmas I’m a single mom and could hardly afford bringing my son to this tourny this is why I double confirmed prices to make sure I had enough for this trip By giving him my last $60 left me no gas to get home and I had to borrow money to make it home These owners are completely GREEDY And not friendly at all never again will I stay there While I was at a hockey game , I came back to a note in my room (just completely uncalled for and invasion of privacy and complete GREED!
