It is a little out of our way, but we had been there for breakfast in the summer and it is a cute place. So, we decided to go for dinner. We were not disappointed. We had the smoked prime rib and it was excellent. Service was awesome!
Definitely would recommend and will be going back again.

We arrived Thursday to checkout Monday morning. A bit of an early 30th anniversary celebration. We stayed in cabin 7. There are 2 bedrooms, 1 queen and 1 with 2 twins. Also a daybed in the living area to serve as a couch. Full fridge and stove, both working well. A small kitchen table suitable for 2 . The kitchen has dishes, pots and pans and silverware, glasses and cups. Microwave, kettle, coffeemaker and supplies small packages of ground coffee which is very good! You can purchase it in the lodge or at their store in Barry’s Bay, Madawaska Coffee Co. Packets of sugar, powdered creamer and tea are supplied.
All bedding, pillows, towels for bath and kitchen were supplied.
There’s a small 3 piece bath, tub/shower combo. The water heater is also in there, we never ran out of hot water! The shower is decent with good water pressure. But just a note-there’s a step up to access the shower that could be hard to navigate for some.
There’s a gas fireplace, baseboard heaters and a n air conditioner, which we didn’t use as the weather turned chilly our first day.
Outside you have a lovely front porch facing the lake, it’s absolutely beautiful! And is about 25 feet from the edge of the lake in which you have your own fire pit, plastic chairs and picnic table. On the porch are plastic chairs and a small table, and your bbq.
There’s a restaurant on site in the lodge. We only did take out our first night but it seems a pretty popular spot on weekends, especially for dinner!
On the back side of the lodge is their beach, not warm enough when we were there to use it but it looks very good!
We had good service if we needed anything and everyone seemed happy and friendly!
This particular cabin, you could sleep 5 comfortably but the living space would be awfully cramped in weather if you all need to be inside. For 2, it was perfect!
However, if you’re expecting a high end resort accommodation, this may not be for you, the inside of our cabin, the carpet is well used and some things are a bit “rustic”, but it’s comfortable, tidy and very cozy.
Overall, we had a nice fun yet romantic stay and would definitely consider coming back!

My husband and I spent 1 night 2 days at Spectacle Lake Lodge for the first time this week. We booked a lodge room which was really comfortable and offered anything you would need for a comfortable stay. There was sitting spaces, chairs and table plus a chesterfield.
The room was fantastic, the Madawaska Spectacle Lake Coffee provided in restaurant and room is the best coffee I have tasted in years. The bed in our room was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was well stocked, the shower had great water pressure, the towels and linens were much more luxurious than one normally finds in a near-north Ontario lodge.
We had a kettle to make tea, a fridge and coffee pot with the delicious coffee provided at no charge. The room provided lots of space, was clean and offered many extras, like extra pillows, extra blanket, extra soap, towels and more.
We enjoyed a dinner and a lunch in the restaurant, both were delicious. The servers were both efficient, safe and friendly.
We will be returning for another tiny getaway later this month because it was so lovely and relaxing. Thank you!!

Brought my family of four to share and enjoy an experience that my wife and I had many years before. A snowmobile trip for the ages. Unfortunately, this one time gem has disappointed us tremendously. It started when our room wasn't even prepared (arrived at 5pm), the beds looked like they were just slept in and the facet in the bathroom was running and it couldn't be turned off. They cleaned the room and shout off the water and advised they would fix it the next day, they never did and we stayed for 3 nights. The rooms are substandard and very expensive. No spot for us to sit and the master bedroom has 8 inches of leg room on either side. Carpet was old and stained. No activities, small hot tub (a little dirty), no outside fires...just sad.
The food was okay, but every time we eat at the restaurant our order was wrong and sometimes cold. The first night we eat, they forgot about us for over an hour, we had to wave down the waitress and then she forgot us again. They forgot the appetizers and then they brought them during our main course. The food was too expensive, $20 for a hamburger put that's what to expect these days.
The parking area had tons of snow that wasn't removed and staff we parking their vehicles right in front of the pathways leading to the entrance. Very difficult to get around.
We are so disappointed and somewhat heart broken, considering the great memories we once had there.
Although the snowmobile trails were great, the experience at the lodge was bad.
Sorry, but we won't be back.

A group of 10 snow riders booked cottages and rooms for one night. The meal and service in the restaurant was fabulous. The cottage I rented was the two bedroom. The beds were double but comfortable , however I have a few complaints: the price of the cabin is expensive. The furniture was dirty, I placed a towel on the chair before sitting. The lamp had electrical tape on two area's on the cord. And I cringed to see carpet around the toilet and shower. Cost for Cost I would go to Pembroke Best Western next time. Deb

Attended for dinner with a group of friends - had made a reservation so they were expecting our larger group. From the time we sat down to the time we were served our entrees was over 2 hours. The few of us that got apps, received them quite quickly. Special for the night was their famous prime rib and everyone that ordered it received it cold, and they ran out of the side veg (which was 3 measly green beans) and everyone else got an inch thick slice of tomato with some grill marks on it - the Yorkshire puddings were not fresh, and were fridge cold in the middle. Ribs were dried right out with a foul strong bbq sauce to try to hide the dryness - they must have forgot them on the smoker for a couple days and then the chicken wings that came with them were red/raw in the middle and one order had a hair! We received an apology from the waitress after concerns were expressed, nothing was comped or reduced in price and zero offer was made to remedy the situation, they just wanted us out of there after spending 3 hours in the dining (mostly waiting for food and drinks). It was a royal sh** show. Last time I was here prior, had an amazing meal and time - what has changed?? Scared to give them another chance seeing how this group was handled.

The owners of this lodge are a real delight! They are extremely personable and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a pleasant one! The cottage was well equipped and I appreciated not having to pack pillows, bedding or towels. The lake is beautiful and peaceful. The restaurant food was delicious and the portions were very generous. I hope to return again later this year!

Went with a group to celebrate a 40th anniversary. The group table sat empty while they crammed us beside the empty group table around 4 round tables. I wondered what was wrong with us? It took 2 hours to get the main course, then almost everyone's food was cold, and I mean cold. They took away 2 of our plates when we finally got someone to listen, and then returned with cold food again, yorkshire pudding was refrigerator temp. One guest ordered a rye and coke, and received scotch and coke. The buffet was chosen by 2 guests, and at least 1/3 (5 or 6) of the items advertised were not available on the buffet. The meal was very expensive. When I asked if they or the owner would like to hear my concerns when trying to pay my bill the owner walked by and did not even acknowledge me or any of our group. What a terrible way to treat a couple and their family and friends celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. I will not go again, and hope others heed this poor service and food.

We had a family weekend gathering and found the facility to have all the charm to be expected of a cottage/lodge. Cottages and rooms are clean, neat, comfortable and tastefully decorated. The amenities provided were certainly suitable for our family gathering of four generations providing winter snow for the younger ones to play in and a warm cozy fire in the lodge fireplace with fireside comfortable seating. The Terrace area kept others busy playing pool, shuffleboard, and darts with lots of catch up conversations. In the morning the Sunroom overlooking the patio and lake is the perfect setting for that first cup of coffee and breakfast of your choice. Menu options are wide and Chef Jen ensured all tastes were met, even addressing some dietary challenges. Another larger group were there for lunch and there were numerous compliments extended to Chef Jen for the delicious lunch provided. Would highly recommend Spectacle Lake Lodge for family gatherings, birthdays, anniversary parties etc.

Spectacle Lake Lodge is an informal, relaxing place to spend a few days during the fall season. We took a cabin without a kitchen. It was comfortable and had everything one needs. Sitting on the front porch, we faced the lake. The dining room served a feast of foods - we enjoyed the ribs and breaded fish platters. The staff were attentive and we had a picturesque view down the lake. Our main activity was hiking. A short walk from the resort is the entry to Spectacle Ridge Trail. Climbing up to the lookout provided a variety of terrain. The view from the top was stunning. From there many more trails would provide days of hiking. This is a delightful little spot in the upper Madawaskas.
