This place has a very nice feel to it, it's on a farm, unfortunately we didn't have time to look around much, beautiful views though, close to Hobbiton. Friendly host, lots of pets greeting us when we arrived. A very spacious two-bedroom apartment. Loved the bathroom with the heat lamps, excellent shower! Felt really at home there in the comfy bed.
We decided to try stay in Farm stay in New Zealand and we found this place in trip advisor. Jim and Libby are amazing host. The studio provided everything we need. We enjoyed staying here...spending time seeing nature and cute animals. If you want to try Farm stay in New Zealand, we recommend Kauri Lodge!
We - two adults and two teenagers - really enjoyed our two night stay at Kauri Lodge. It's the perfect place to stay if you're going to Hobbiton and that's why we picked it in the first place. But the real plus with the place was to be so warmly welcomed by the owners, their dogs and cat and to get the chance to join them when it was time to feed the cows and take care of the horses. And I must say: the sky is amazing during night! I've never seen as many stars or the Milkyway like this anywhere on Earth! This is absolutely a place we will stay at again if we go back to NZ.
Libby and her husband Jim are very warm and special people. Their passion for gardening and animals reflects in the way they run their farm. Special thanks to Dante the horse, lucky and clover, the cows for the photos and horse rides.
It's so lucky for us to find the lovely place via TripAdvisor. The reviews are true! This place is what Kiwi hospitality at its best. Jim and Libby were wonderful hosts. The room and beds are comfortable and clean. It's very quiet at night. The view from this lodge is amazing. You can see morning mist arising from Wakato river miles away. Libby also took us (parents with two kids) to see her beautiful farm in the next morning. My kids loved the horse riding and feeding cows with the lovely hosts. Oh, they also enjoy playing with their friendly black Labrador Retriever Gary. Thank you Libby. (One small thing: we found about 5 flies, and one honeybee in our studio, but I thought it's normal in a farm.)
