2 night stay for business, the room was very big, with ample hanging space for clothes, a dedicated shelf for your suitcase, a shoe mat and a large double bed. There were two chairs and a wee table for relaxing, plus a desk and chair too.
The toilet was in a separate ensuite room to the ensuite shower which I imagine would be useful to couples staying.
Little extras like Haribo sweets, a full carafe of water, and useful toiletries made it feel even better.
Breakfast provided a great selection of both hot and cold, and gluten free bread was available, and warmed up too.
Only drawback was the lack of air-conditioning.

I stayed in the hotel in November due to some business issues. The hotel is located in the pedestrian zone in the center of the small town but in the room it was quite quiet . The is a possibility to drive up right to the doors. The garage as I understand is limited to 3 cars and during the day it is difficult to find a parking place nearby.
The rooms are clean and the breakfast is good enough. Actually I recommend.

Close to downtown Centrum and right off of bike trail on Altmuhl . Greeting at reception was not overly friendly but tolerable. Room was good sized and clean . Bed was comfortable as was the bathroom . Used to have a restaurant but no longer has one .Breakfast was adequate with a number of good food choices . Several good restaurants within 150 meters . Good secure bike storage .

I stayed at the hotel ahead of Challenge Roth, and found the hotel comfortable and clean. The room was functional, and had good air conditioning, with the bed being firm but comfortable. Though the twin single beds were a bit narrow. Staff polite but did not say much, possibly language related as I don't speak German. Breakfast pleasant and broad ranging. Was shown as a 4 star hotel on the sign, but to my mind a 3 star really. Gunzenhausen is a very pleasant town. One highlight was the lack of noise from other rooms, sound proofing seemed very good.

My son stayed in this hotel on our latest trip to Germany. I visited him several times (I was staying in Nuremberg-see my review on the Holiday Inn).

The Blauer Wolf is a very nice hotel, with spacious rooms and many amenities. Breakfast is excellent here. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately there isn't much to do in Gunzenhausen. It is also rather difficult to reach, about 1 hr travel to Nuremberg despite being only 50Km/30 miles away.

Our overnight stay was an absolute disgrace. We were surprised that the windows of this room were wide open, as was the bathroom door. We had just quickly put our suitcases in the room and then spent hours in the city. We went to bed late. From 4 a.m. onwards we could no longer stand the smell of urine. When we complained to reception, it turned out that the management knew that this room smelled. We were given a ridiculous discount of 10 euros. The manager of the house did not budge at all, liked to interrupt us and made it clear to us that he was not interested in our personal feelings. Apparently the mattress had been changed. We also had the impression that the gentleman actually already knew what we wanted when we were already sitting at his reception at 7 a.m. He deliberately let us move into a room that smelled of a urinal. During our discussion he even laughed disparagingly and said that we had the opportunity to call the management 24/7. This gentleman lives off walk-in customers and is probably not interested in customer satisfaction. I also told the gentleman that he didn't have to wish us a nice breakfast, we were already at the bakery across the street at 6 a.m. But that didn't interest him either. The hotel's stars are undeserved. We have never stayed overnight so badly and have never been treated so badly in a hotel.

Receptionist could be more customer friendly, 'here you have your card for your room', when we asked what 'erhohlen' is, the answer was 'erhohlen ist erhohlen', could not explain cycling routes along Altmühltal or what there was to do in the area . While we had already provided all our details when booking, we had to enter this again on an iPad at the counter. We think this could have been done in advance by the hotel itself. We were handed some brochures and that was it.
The hotel is accessible at the front via a very narrow and steep street, which you have to drive into backwards, because there is no room to turn around at the top. The receptionist could have referred to the back of the hotel, near the garage for the bicycles, where there is ample opportunity to unpack or pack in peace.
Hotel has nothing to offer other than their rooms and breakfast. There is no central area where the 4 of you can play a game or something. The breakfast room is locked after breakfast. There are 4 chairs at the reception at the top of the steep street, but there is nowhere else to sit outside.
Rooms are clean! During our 6 day stay the bed was changed in between. Clean towels every day. Air conditioning cost us 6 euros per day. We opened the windows so that it was sufficiently fresh in the room.
In the morning from 5(!) o'clock there was terrible noise from unloading trucks, people talking loudly to each other, etc. That was a shame.
Beds were wonderful. Pillow were very thin. Shower was wonderful.
Staff at breakfast were business friendly, wouldn't hesitate to chat.
Cleaning ladies were super friendly, helpful and they gave us the tip to go to Nuremberg on a rainy day, a very good tip!
Nice large garage for the bicycles.
When we left, the receptionist didn't ask how we had done. Total disinterest.
