This was our second time in this particular apartment and it was a very good holiday.
We booked through Holiday Lettings and were on the top floor of block 3 overlooking the pool.
The owner is Irish which helped as there were no language barriers and the apartment itself had everything we could possibly need, including bikes in the garage!
The location itself was perfect - close enough to the main centre (5 minutes walk) but far enough away to be in a very quiet area.

We found Vila da Praia on a website and took a chance on booking an apartment there. We were absolutely delighted. The apartments are modern and really well equipped and in a fantastic location in Alvor. We were only a 5 minute walk in one direction to the harbour and town centre and 5 minute walk in the other direction to the beach.
The apartment complex was very quiet – some days there were only ourselves and two other couples sunbathing round the pool. Not the usual battle for sunbeds that can take place! The only slight criticism I would have had is there was not a bar/snack bar on the complex. That said, we only had to cross over the road and there was plenty of choice at the Dunas Apartments. There were a number of snack bars in the courtyards by their swimming pool – our favourite being the Cactos Bar. The staff there were so friendly that we usually popped in for lunch and a drink (€1 a pint happy hour!) but, more importantly, it was by far our favourite place to go at night. There was live music every night provided by the owner, Mark, and the prices were a lot cheaper than the other live music venues in the town.
Although there were good self catering facilities in the apartment, we preferred to eat out as we were spoiled for choice for good restaurants. We had some really good lunches at the Cinco Quinas restaurant on the beach. At night time our favourites were Porto Bella and Vagabondo (on the terrace). It’s nice to have a cocktail at Mourisco’s on the main road whilst you watch the sunset.
The beach is absolutely beautiful and very uncrowded. If you like walking, the further east you walk the prettier it is with rocks and hidden coves.
We are just booking again for this year and can’t wait to go back to this really pretty friendly resort.

We have been to Alvor many times and stayed in various places but the last few years we have ventured back to Vila de Praia, the apartments are good and well equipped, I'm guessing they are similar but we have been staying on the ground floor over looking the pool and its perfect for us with two small children, the complex is quiet and gated, there is a small pool and larger pool which caters for all and usually there is plenty of room to sit and swim although August is busier...location wise its great as you can walk to the beach or the town easily but there is enough distance to avoid the hustle and bustle. The kids have made lots of friends and I would recommend it, as I said we have returned several times, Alvor itself is lovely too, lots of nice places to eat such as capacho, caravela, green door and so on..a drink over looking the harbour whilst the sun goes down is very relaxing and just lovely....

This was our first family holiday abroad with 2 children (aged 5 and 2) so we were initially nervous about booking a rental accommodation (instead of the usual package deals). We need not have worried...from the initial communication with Gary it instilled us with confidence that things would go smoothly.
Gary met us at the complex when we arrived and showed us round the apartment. We we were very impressed with what was going to be our home for next 11 nights. The kids were especially pleased with the large box of beach/pool toys that we could use for the duration. The apartment was spacious, clean and there was nothing that we could have wanted for. The TV had Sky (all important for the CBeebies channel). The location of the complex is ideal, just a short walk from both the beach and the centre of Alvor. Can also recommend (as other reviews have mentioned) the 2 bars at the nearby Dunas Complex are very well priced. Couple of minutes walk further and there is a good supermarket that stocks all the essentials. The complex itself is securely gated and there is no noise in the evenings to disturb a good nights sleep.
We made good use of the kitchen, the dishwasher and washing machine were particularly useful.
In summary, an excellent apartment, ideally located in lovely Alvor. We had never been to Portugal before but we will definitely be returning and Trina and Gary's apartment will be at the top of our list.

Booked through holiday rentals again - 2nd year running here. Complex gated so secure and clean. Grounds well looked after and lifts or stairs to first and second floor apartments. One larger pool used by adults and children alike, sometimes inflatables and balls brought in but usually possible to get time for just a swim too. Smaller childrens pool too. Plenty of sun loungers usually, all free of charge. Pool area monitored and kept clean. No reception or bar/snack bar on site but excellent location. Snack bars and bar just round corner with excellent minimarket selling good range of products and fresh bread etc too. 5 to 10 minutes or so walk to beautiful uncrowded beach or other way along river front into town. Many excellent restaurants, variety of cuisine and children welcome and well catered for. Family and couple type place mainly, are bars too but not a resort for louts. Easy access to surrounding places in Algarve by public transport or hire car. Apartment we visited was clean and well equiped with balconies overlooking pool where we ate and hung washing. Would love to go back.

Having read the one and only review for these apartments we decided to go ahead and book as we were able to book for five days only [not in high season] and they seemed ideal. We were not disappointed ! everything in the previous review was true ,Fully equiped kitchen[bring a couple of dishwasher tabs/washing machine tabs if you want to use these facilities] spacious,modern decor and spotlessly clean. We would certainly stay here again if we were to return and have to say that Alvor was much nicer than other parts of the Algarve. If you want an extra special meal we would recommend The Captains Table just alittle way from the harbour.

Just back from a 11 night stay I cannot speak highly enough of Vila da Praia. All the apartments vary as they are privately owned so I can only speak about the one I have stayed in the past couple of years. It comes fully equipped with everything you could possibly need ie washing machine toaster microwave hairdryer and believe me the list goes on and on. My apartment was on the ground floor with a pool view and was absolutely beautiful but I'm quite sure all the apartments in this complex are equally as beautiful. The complex it's self is gated and very secure especially if you have children and the grounds and pool are beautiful and well kept. It is a 2 minute walk into the town. As a whole Vila da Paria is PERFECT and I cannot wait to return next year

These apartments are all privately owned, so it seems unfair to comment on an individual apartment under the heading of the whole complex, as they must vary enormously. So I will restrict my review to general features. This secure gated complex is very well maintained, with regular grass and hedge trimming. The pool is large and very nice, with a small kids pool at the side (it was a bit cheeky to say this place has 2 pools though, I thought).
It is very close to the very pretty harbour and town, so only a few minutes walk to a great selection of restaurants, bars, etc. There's also a little supermarket very close.
It's 10 minutes maximum to walk to the wonderful beach, there are a couple of ways you can go.
My main gripe was the road running along the back of the complex, behind the high hedge. The constant traffic noise prevented me from being able to really chill out, and I had to trudge across to the beach for real peace and quiet, which was a shame as our aparment and its patio were absolutely beautiful, and otherwise were the perfect place to relax. Also, immediately next to the complex is an area of wasteground which is used by a fairground, and also a circus in our second week. Initially the noise from this was horrendous, with music and space invader-type noises booming out from 1700 to c. 2300. Fortunately, after 2 days of this, presumably because of complaints, the music volume level reduced drastically. It was still an irritating background noise in the evening, although it did finish early enough.
I liked Alvor, and loved the apartment, but would not return for the reasons explained above, whcih is a pity as the apartment was beauiful, and in some respects, in an excellent location.

have been to alvor many times staying at various places. This has to be one of our best.For a start it is in a prime location[5 mins to centre] between 5 n 10 mins to beach depending how fast you walk]and best of all abt 2 mins to dunas complex where you have chill out and cactus bars.Stayed in 2 bed apt 1 on suite with seperate bathroom outside 2nd bedroom.KITCHEN well stocked with everything you could want.Pool area average size with toddler and main pool.Was quiet when we were there as was alvor itself[last week of may]Complex is gated with cctv.Give it a try I dont think you will be dissapointed.PS.it is managed by gary and triona bergin]Some others you may want to consider close to centre are dunas/ clube alvor ria and alvormar which look well from outside with the new paint job.

We have stopped in this complex 3 times and all apartments have been good but the latest 2 bedroom one on 2nd floor with pool and sea view was the best. 2 sunny balconies and 2 bathrooms. As others have stated this gated complex is in an ideal position with a pleasant uncrowded pool area. In October the pool was chilly but we managed a few swims. There is a Sports Centre with lovely warm pool 5 mins away which we used on a rainy day-you need a swim hat, but they lent us one. It was €3.50 each and only one other person in. If you like lively pool bars and on-site entertainment it's not for you. Maybe teenagers would be bored but the free Wi-Fi in apartment was good.

hi last one I booked was through holiday lettings which is either it's own website or through trip advisor..holiday rentals section. Also try Homeaway. They get booked up very early though
We are here right now n plenty of sunbeds. A pool attendant actually makes sure beds are not reserved.
I will post some photos taken showing the pool area.
No bar on the sight but across the road is the Dunnas complex with bars, snack food places n mini market.
