At the Tivoli Alvor Algarve - All Inclusive Resort, guests enjoy its vibrant atmosphere and modern accommodations, though the late-night entertainment can sometimes disrupt peace and quiet. Its enviable location garners compliments for the easy beach access and scenic surroundings. The resort's amenities, including pools and adult areas, are a hit, but overcrowding and slow service have been noted. While the staff receives acclaim for their friendliness, some visitors have expressed concerns regarding value, with long waits and inconsistent quality in food and services. Cleanliness is generally upheld, although a few inconsistencies have been reported.

We have just returned from a week's holiday at the Tivoli Alvor and would like to share some of our experiences. Firstly I would like to mention the staff at this particular hotel, from the moment we checked in, the reception, bar, and restaurant staff were very pleasant, and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Regarding the staff, I would like to say a special thank you to a member of the housekeeping staff of block 2 where we stayed. Marina looked after us and our room during our holiday, nothing was too much trouble you only had to ask and she would do her best to fulfill our request. Marina was always happy, smiling, and polite whenever we saw her, and thanks to Marina she made our stay a delightful experience. She is a credit to the Tivoli and a very professional member of the hotel staff.
The hotel is about a 20-minute walk to the town of Alvor which has a large variety of bars and restaurants and if you do not fancy the walk back you can get an Uber for about 4 euros. The Beach is about a 10 min walk and has a very large sandy beach where you can hire sun beds and umbrellas, a word to the wise prices and times did seem to differ depending on which part of the beach we chose to sit on.
The hotel has four pools, one of which is an adult-only which was a bonus as there were only the 2 of us and we were able to sunbathe and swim in a peaceful setting. The restaurant was extremely busy(some would say chaotic) at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I would say that the staff did a great job in dealing with the daily situation.
Now I do have to mention a few negatives regarding the dining room, only one toaster to service the whole dining area!! There were 2 speciality coffee machines but 1 kept breaking down. I struggled to find hot water apart from the coffee machines which meant standing in a long queue of people trying to work out how to use the machines. The staff did serve hot water from teapots but it was only lukewarm.
This now leads me to our biggest disappointment which was the temperature of the hot food, it was lukewarm and on some occasions, it was even cold which meant we either left it or queued again to try another food option. This is not the first time we have encountered hot food issues on our holidays aboard it seems a very regular occurrence, some hotels have tried to solve the issue with the addition of microwaves(although not ideal it does give you the choice if you so wish to reheat your meal).
Overall we did enjoy our holiday and would return if the food temperature issue could be improved, Our lasting memory would be the staff, they were the key to the enjoyment of the holiday and deserve a special mention.

We arrived on September 27 th 2024. At the airport we were taken to the Hotel in a Mini bus ,there were six adults and one child. It took one hour.On arrival at Tivoli Alvor hotel our room was ready. In the good size de- luxe room you have ,two single beds pushed together, a rail for hanging clothes with eight hangers ,five drawers, a safe, a good size fridge with two bottles of water in ,a long mirror, two units either side of the beds and air con .There is a good size balcony with two chairs. The bathroom is a good size,. There’s a shower with a washing line you pull across you will see a round metal thing on the wall to pull acoss and hook on . Next to the sink is the hairdryer and shaving mirror. Then the toilet. You will need to put the sign on your door in the morning to get your room made up,and clean towels, We got a sun bed at eight o’clock in the morning,no problem even at eleven am maybe because of the time of year September. There are towel stations by the pools to get your towel .You need to hand in the towel cards that you received on arrival. The pools were a little cold, but once you have swam up and down a few times the water is not too bad .I would like to see a hand rail in the Adult pool. When getting in and out you can’t see where the bottom step is in the water especially with the sun shining on the water !!We had four days of lovely blue sky and it was hot, The other days we had a little cloud and sun. The toilets are in the Restaurant s ,at the side .The sign looks like two pin men , the woman’s sign has like an upside down V. The men’s is the other way up!! In the Essenze Restaurant main one ,the food is cool.We had fried eggs for breakfast. We waited while the lady cooked them so they were hot ..The staff always seem hesitant to take your plate away after you have had your starter.
They need to be quicker clearing the tables!! The Salty Bar is fine for lunch ,burger, hot dogs ,salad table .Theres crisps on the counter .The sweets are nice , coconut cake which is lovely and moist, mint cake and some chocolate slices, and ice cream .The bar staff here at the Salty do their best, but it’s like others have said ,you get in a queue and if the person in front orders a cocktail your waiting a while then!! The Staff are worse at the Shore main bar .Your waiting to be served and the three of them are busy talking to each other!!

We spent 10 wonderful days at the Tivoli Alvor Algarve Resort in September 2023.
The well-kept hotel complex is very spacious and the individual buildings are a maximum of 2 floors high.
We can recommend the hotel and will visit it again.
The hotel is a short distance from the beach. However, this can be easily reached in 10 minutes via a bridge over the road and a path through adjacent hotel complexes (Praia dos Três Irmãos).
Alternatively, the hotel offers a shuttle service (every 30 minutes in high season, every hour in low season) to Alvor beach (Praia de Alvor).

On arrival, we and our luggage were taken to our room in a golf cart. The rooms are located in 2-story buildings that are spread across the complex.
Our room was very nice, modern, bright and friendly with a lovely balcony with afternoon and evening sun. There are bathrobes, a very good hairdryer and high-quality cosmetic products (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and body cream).
The air conditioning can be individually adjusted and works perfectly.
The hotel has various restaurants. The main restaurant Essenz, the grill and steak restaurant Roastic and the Italian restaurant Carosello, each with beautiful outdoor areas. We visited all the restaurants and were very satisfied. The food is very good and varied. We would like to highlight the Carosello, where the service was particularly warm and attentive.
As a Premium All Inclusive guest, we had the opportunity to have breakfast in the Roastic, which was very pleasant, because it is particularly quiet and cozy here. If you wish, you can have egg dishes prepared by a breakfast cook. The selection at the buffet is very good.
In the afternoon you can eat either in the main restaurant or in the snack bar.
The meal times are very generous, so that there is the opportunity to get something to eat throughout the day.
The drinks (all inclusive) are very high quality and only branded products are used. All cocktails are freshly prepared (no ready-made mixes). Wine, water, etc. are served at the table in the restaurants.

The general manager, Mar Bayo, and her entire team are very committed and concerned about the well-being of the guests. The employees in all areas are very friendly. Communication takes place mainly in English. During our stay, however, there were also German-speaking employees in some areas. Despite the all-inclusive package, there was a drinks service at the table in both the bar and the restaurants - very good.

There are 3 pools for adults & children and an "adults-only" pool. All pools are very nice and well-maintained and were never overcrowded during our stay. There were always enough loungers and high-quality parasols.
There was a drinks service at both pools or you could get drinks at the two bars directly next to them.

I was in this hotel for the second time. I had already been in August last year and still with plenty of things to improve I decided to go back to see if there were changes too. I was disappointed with the experience in general. The parking lot being a 5-star hotel is kept in the same conditions, soil and super irregular floor. The cars are completely dirty. The Resort this year was super crowded and this was felt in the service. Since we are in the Algarve it would not be much to ask a natural orange juice, the same is frozen and is not of quality. Also, being a hotel like this I think that breakfast should have more variety of everything, and the existing natural juices be much more varied, not requiring a primum service. The fact of being so crowded every day were endless queues for lunch and dinner, since this year they chose to register the room number to enter for meals. There were days when there were no pool towels available. Often the dishes appeared dirty at meals, there were no cups of coffee. Regarding the cleaning of the rooms, I took a dog and at the reception asked us to schedule an hour for the cleaning, and no one ever came at the scheduled time, and it was necessary to alert the reception for the situation. I also asked for a surprise for the wedding anniversary of my parents, they had given a positive response to the situation and on the day no one made available anything. I had to send an email and the only thing they did was apologize and say the next day they'd leave the surprise in the room. However, the day was no longer that. Regarding the cooking of meals I think it lost quality from one year to the next and to emphasize that the snacks are with little variety, there is no cheese and ham, pizza, nuts, small cakes... They are foods that are part of the snack. Regarding the entertainment I think it improved a lot although the situation of closing the bar at 23:00 is not at all beneficial, it is a time that people prefer at night. I think foam parties, inflatable in the pool are needed to have more interaction in the afternoon.
I have to mention exceptional people who passed through during our stay, the João and Madalena of the animation, the Luis Cunha and Rafael Sena of the Roastic restaurant who are of extreme sympathy and excellent professionalism and the Mahdi of the buffet restaurant which was very kind. Other people crossed that were of extreme sympathy and that make the holidays even better days.
I hope your reviews help improve the service.

An honest and fair review following our stay this week hoping to inform people accurately before making their bookings. For us this was our first family holiday in 6 years.

On first appearance the Tivoli is a pristine resort, with welcoming front of house staff and seemingly everything we'd hoped it would be. However, it quickly became apparent, with the lack of glasses at the water station and the long queue at the bar, what was to come. The buffet restaurant was often chaos -at both breakfast and dinner - and was an unrelaxing experience wherebye we were often having to search for clean cutlery or glasses or battle our way through the sheer volume of guests trying to do the same thing - I will note that the waiting staff in the restaurants were trying their best but there were simply too many people at this resort for the communal spaces given. It does not allow for a pleasant family sit down meal that you would expect on holiday. The Salty Bar in particular was not well kept, presentation/cleanliness wise, any time after 1pm and it always felt like you were sitting in a dirty canteen. The food on offer however was generally lovely with lots of fresh salads, cheeses, breads etc but sadly the same every day so very repetitive.

Many of the childrens areas seem to be neglected and in much need of some TLC and as such there isn't anything that really caters for children's entertainment outside of the pool areas - granted we didn't make use of the children's kids club but it would be nice to see some games rooms or a playground area not in disrepair. The pool area is reserved from early in the morning by people laying towels out which is definitely not the hotels fault but I did feel they could deter this from happening by placing signs around the pool area or instructing the pool attendants to remove towels from beds clearly not being used.

The courtesy train into Alvor is a bonus and the kids loved it. Our room was a great size and very practical for a family of four with a separate sleeping area. Unfortunately, it did not feel overly clean at any point. Again, not the cleaners fault as they clearly had a lot to get through but still not what is expected from a 5* property. Tivoli Alvor has so much potential due to the location and beautiful grounds which has lots of lush greenery but there are some real common themes here that need addressing before it is 5* standard.

Dear Jessica, Thank you for sharing your detailed review. We’re glad to hear that you appreciated our resort’s welcoming atmosphere, the courtesy train to Alvor, and the spacious, family-friendly room setup. However, we’re sorry to learn that certain aspects, including cleanliness, dining, and children's facilities, did not meet the high standards you expected. Your feedback on these areas, especially the pool and restaurant experience, is invaluable for helping us make improvements. We hope that, despite these issues, you were able to enjoy your family holiday and that we may have the opportunity to provide a more satisfying experience in the future. We stayed here for one week in October, booked with Jet 2. The transfer can take up to 2 hours but we were lucky enough to be on a minibus that took 1 hour. Check in was very easy with all the information provided. Our room wasn't ready but they took out mobile number and text when the room was available. They did give us out wrist bands so that we could start enjoying the all inclusive straight away.

We were given a room in block 1, good for easy access to the bars and pool but if you want to get any sleep or peace and quiet avoid this block. The tub thumping music from the entertainment team by the pool means no peace during the day and the evening entertainment and party's in the Shore Bar until the early hours means not much sleep at night.

The room (on the upper flooe) itself was very nice, one of the largest rooms we have had and we had the sun on the balcony all afternoon as we faced the Shore Bar. The bed is very hard so if you like that you will be OK but it wasn't that great for us. There is a Mini fridge with a complimentary bottle of water that is replaced daily but if you need more you can refill them at water stations in each block. There is a free safe to use along with robes and slippers and coffee making facilities, these were not replenished but we helped ourselves from breakfast to tea bags, sugar and milk. Although we didn't go on holiday to watch TV there are quite a few English channels available, there is a USB port so you can watch any films you bring with you. The air conditioning worked fine but as always you have to keep the balcony door closed.

We tried all the pools but for us the Adults Only one was the best as it was so much more peaceful. There is no bar by this pool but there is a small drinks station offering beer wine and orange juice.

The buffet restaurant was OK, it can get very hectic and as other people have mentioned there can be a shortage of cutlery and cups. We would recommend booking the a la carte restaurants as they are so much more relaxed and you can visit them as many times as you can book. We had one night in the Italian and 2 in the steakhouse. Both were great but for us the steakhouse was the best.

The queues at the bar can get very long due to the time it takes to make the individual cocktails. It would make things alot easier if they switched on the beer and soft drink machines on that are in the Shore Bar to allow self service. We were slightly at the end of the season but can imagine it's carnage in the height of summer.

During the last couple of days in our stay there were a couple of very large parties/conference that seemed to take over and it felt like they were given priority over the other holiday makers. They were shouting and singing all over the hotel until 2 and 3 in the morning. Not great when we had a 6am pick up the next morning.

All in all we had a good week but this place has such potential to be more than it is. This we feel is down to the management as we cannot fault all the staff as they are hardworking and very friendly and helpful.

As long as you are not expecting 5 star but more like a good 3 star you will be fine.

Just back from great holiday at Tivoli Alvor. As we arrived at hotel we were greeted by amazing porters/reception staff who took our cases and gave us drinks to welcome us. We checked in and although rooms weren’t ready (only 10am) our cases were put on secure luggage room and we could go use all the facilities straight away. We received a text when the room was ready so we could then go and unpack. The rooms are layed out in 11 two storey blocks around the complex. We were in block 4 which was great for us as it was right by both the adult pool and Essenze buffet restaurant. The room was spacious. Large area with king size bed, dressing table, sofa and table. Good wardrobe space and drawers but only 8 hangers. Fridge had water in ready for us. Safe is easy to use. The TV has information about the hotel, its restaurants, spa etc as well as a number of English speaking TV channels. We had read reviews about the food being cold in the buffet restaurant, we didn’t experience this at all. We enjoyed a good choice of food, especially if you like fish with lots of wonderful fresh fish over the week including John Dory, sea bream and cod. We ate in the Roastic a la carte one night and had a very tasty chateaubriand steak. We also chose to eat in Carosello, the Italian restaurant on two occasions and again couldn’t fault the food or the service. We only used the adult only pool and have to say it was very relaxing. The whole area was clean and obviously well looked after. The staff were great, whether it be giving you towels or fetching drinks and always with a smile and a way that made you feel welcome. The family pools looked amazing too, 3 tiered next to each other, again kept immaculately. The restaurant and bar staff were also excellent, helpful and extremely friendly. The whole place was kept to a very high standard whether it be the cleanliness of rooms, bars, restaurants or pools or the facilities and staff. The only thing that stopped me giving this 5 stars was the entertainment for adults. We found this to be the one area that needs improvement. The karaoke was dominated by children and I wouldn’t expect this to be the main entertainment for an evening but more after the main event. We found the magic act quite poor and other entertainment not up to the standard we had hoped. This wouldn’t however put us off going again as we instead sat in ‘Salty’ bar having drinks and enjoying good conversation with others. Great hotel, brilliant staff will definitely be returning to Alvor

This holiday was at best a 3 star but we opted to buy an upgrade to premium after the third day which took it to a four star. The best 25 euros per adult spent to upgrade to the premium all inclusive.

Food - The dining hall was awful - very hectic, poor food - tepid heat and dry, terrible service. Breakfast was bad. However once upgraded to premium it was better as you could escape to a separate dining area for breakfast which was more serene. The Italian ala carte, Carasello was excellent, Mad Med was mediocre and roastic was also mediocre. We had to queue at 10am every morning for the pot luck of getting a reservation at the Ala cartes. We ended up eating out of the resort a couple of times.

Cleanliness - nice clean grounds. Housekeeping was good but on 3 days we didn’t get the room cleaned until after 5pm which was an inconvenience to get ready.

Pool - choice of three and an adults only pool. The children’s pool were really busy and needed to be up early to reserve sun loungers. It wasn’t the cleanest and was quite murky. The adults pool however looked lovely!!

Reception/door staff - really friendly and attentive. Couldn’t fault at all.

Drink - it was ok on non premium, long queues though and always running out of drinks. They need to invest in additional slush machines as you had more luck if winning the lottery than actually managing to get a slush as it was always ‘not ready’.

Service - not great. No service around the pool. Hit and miss in getting a served coffee/tea at breakfast. Lots of grumpiness and the feeling that very few of the staff actually wanted to be there.

Spa - got a €70 spa voucher with the premium all inclusive and it was beautiful! An amazing therapist and a gorgeous wellbeing centre.

Room - twin beds in the room where you walk through the door, tv but no space for clothes etc. bathroom which was a shower over the tub and the main room, large bed and wardrobe…bring some hangers if you can. It’s a lovely room and was fine for 4 of us. The blackout curtains didn’t cover the entire window so there was a gap either side - bring some tape! We were garden floor and the sun loungers on the area outside were appreciated.

So would I visit again? With my eyes wide open of knowing what we’d get value for money it’d have to be on a really good deal and opt to eat out in Alvor which is a lovely town. 100% upgrade in resort to premium!

Dear Sidney11, Thank you for your review. *Food*: It's disappointing to hear about the initial dining experience, but I'm glad the premium upgrade provided a better option for breakfast. Your feedback on the different dining options and reservation process is very valuable. *Cleanliness*: While the grounds and housekeeping were generally good.Cleaning takes place between 9:00 and 17:30. Please note that in the morning my colleagues prioritize the cleaning of rooms with arrivals, however, whenever requested we also clean rooms already occupied in the morning. *Reception/door staff*: It's great to hear they were friendly and attentive. *Drink*: We apologize for the long queues and frequent shortages. We will check the situation so that similar situations don't happen. *Service*: Your comments about inconsistent service and staff attitudes are concerning. We'll focus on improving this area. *Spa*: We're delighted you enjoyed the spa experience and therapist. We appreciate your honest feedback and hope to welcome you back with an improved experience. Kind regards, Ana Cunha Guest Relations

We stayed at the height of the peak season in August 2024. It was very busy and reception confirmed that they were fully booked. Judging by the no. of rooms I would say there are over 1,000 guests when they are full and looking at other reviews its like that all summer. Overall we had a great time and I would return but not during July/Aug.

Pros
The resort is modern, clean and well kept. The pictures are accurate, the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. If you are not partaking in the night shows then ask for a room further away from the main bar area (called Shore) as music can be noisy if trying to sleep before 10.30pm.
The staff are mostly friendly, polite and work very hard. There were some that were miserable/rude, mostly those who didnt speak much English.
Special mentions for great service are Luis, Pedro and Laurien (sorry if misspelt) from the Roastic dinner service who were very attentive and made the experience great. Matthew (Matheus) who helps with luggage is amazing and Chaudry from Carosello was also very friendly.
Tasteful party music is played throughout the day in the main pool area so the vibe is fun and casual. Around half of the clientele are British, the odd mobility scooter and the rest are mixed European. Overall they are well behaved, friendly and not stag/hen do vibes. Majority are families with kids.
The spa was great, special mention goes to Tanya who was an amazing masseuse.
Note that if you are a premium guest you get a €35 voucher for the spa and free tickets to either Slide & Splash, Lagos Zoo or Zoomarine. You also get breakfast in an exclusive area away from the crowds and premium drinks so worth it in my opinion.

Cons
There are 5 pools in total, 3 general, 1 kiddy pool and a 18+ only pool which isnt enough for this amount of guests. I would say in total there are enough sunbeds for half of the guests when full so the first reason they are not a 5* hotel in my opinion. You do need to "reserve" sunbeds early. They are mostly gone by 9-10am so chuck a towel down before this time, no need to get there at the crack of dawn ."Reserving" with a towel for a short time seemed ok but out of courtesy dont leave them unused all day.
Buffet was very busy during peak times, like feeding time at the zoo. 8pm onwards seems the busiest time for dinner so go before that if you dont want to be queueing for long periods. The quality of the food wasnt 5* either, most of the meat was dry and didnt have much flavour. Food at the A La Carte restaurants (also part of all inclusive) was better but you need to prebook. You cant book beforehand or over the phone/website so you need to go in person. The booking desk (by Shore bar) opens at 10am so start queueing at 9.50am and you will be fine. You can only make 2 bookings at a time and for the next 3 days only so you need to keep going back if you want more reservations.
There was a gym but it was very small, for a 1,000+ guest hotel it only had 2 running machines, 2 bikes and a few dumbbells which is another reason its not 5*.

The Italian restaurant is really the best made so special by the waiter Felipe Cunha. He makes sure everyone has the best experience explaining the options and recommending the beautiful dishes adapting them to suit the guests’ preferences. We really enjoyed the food and the whole experience thanks to Felipe and his colleagues especially Alexander Costa.

The service around the adult pool area is fabulous. Raffael cannot do enough for all guests. He works non stop to ensure all guests have beds and umbrellas if required. The towels are very well presented and wet towels are stored away in bags. He is so friendly kind and helpful. Made our lazy days by the pool just perfect!
