This was a 5 day break during the Easter school holidays. The weather was kind to us and so were the hotel staff. The food and service in the restaurant were the standout for us, we got a very good service and diligence from the chef team as 3 of the family have a dairy allergy. We also thought the location was great given the adjacent sandy beach, proximity to the board walk and view of the rocks in the sea. The indoor pool was a little average, as it was small and felt overchlorinated , the outdoor pool a little cool as it wasn’t heated but was impeccably clean, very large and we had it to ourselves most of the time due to the tenperature. The room, a sea view suite with a double bedded room and two singles in the living area we found perfect for a family of 4. Would recommend.

Stayed at Pestana Alvor Praia in September 2024 for 5 nights. Hotel is rated as a 5 star however, the only 5 star it deserves is for the location and access to the beach. There is a minifridge in the room but they call it a minibar; there is no alcohol just 2 bottles of water and 2 juice boxes for kids. We had travelled over 24 hours and were exhausted and had to wait until 4:30pm to get into the only room left. We took it because we wanted a relaxing vacation and did not want to argue with staff. We were offered 1 night free drinks as a compensation for the inconveniece which was a bit of joke. No refreshments were offered at arrival. Staff needs to be better trained for a 5 star property. We have stayed at other 5 star properties and this one definitely falls short of the 5 star rating. The breakfast and dinner buffet food was great. My husband and I made the choice to enjoy the view and the beach and will not be returning to this property even though we are Pestana members.

It seems a lie that in a hotel that looks so good and with its price everything else is cheap.

I cannot fault this hotel. The staff are attentive and work unbelievably hard to make sure the guests are catered too. The hotel is very clean and there is constantly staff at each area wiping down surfaces, hoovering and keeping everything maintained to a high standard.

My husband and I along with my brother and sister in law have just returned from this beautifully situated hotel, having enjoyed another most gloriously sunny warm week here at the Alvor Praia hotel.
All the staff were SO helpful from the moment we arrived till when we left. We had asked for a quiet room and this request was happily met.
Our room was spacious and spotless, very comfortable and we were pleased with the kettle in the room, also the fridge. A welcome card, free water, and local fig sweets on arrival were a pleasant way to start the holiday.
On the downside, the sliding door to our balcony was showing signs of age with the seals damaged, meaning that the sound of the sea could not be shut out on two consecutive stormy nights - my husband got little sleep those nights. When we mentioned this, housekeeping did quickly send a repair man to take a look but all he could do was lubricate the runners. The storms didn't re-occur after that but really the door, or at least the seals, need replacing.
Room towels were changed when required but did seem to get increasingly thinner as our stay went on.
There is no longer any dance floor or entertainment in the bar area in the evenings. This may be considered a minus or a plus depending on your preference!
The restaurant staff went the extra mile as my brother and I are Coeliac, needing gluten free food and they especially cooked our breakfasts in the kitchen to avoid any cross contamination. The plentiful fresh hot and cold buffet every morning had a huge variety of choice for every taste with sparkling wine freely available! The idyllic views made for a most relaxing holiday. We felt that we were in safe hands and that nothing was too much trouble. What a great team!

From arriving at this hotel until leaving we were made so welcome all the staff from reception bar staff waiters waitresses and cleaners couldn’t do enough for us. We arrived earlier than expected and knew our room wouldn’t be ready as confirmed in our booking until 4pm this was not a problem we went for lunch in one of the many lovely beach bars .Reception rang to say our room was ready @ 3.30pm and we were not disappointed fab room spotlessly clean great view everything we required. We were staying on a Bed&Breakfast basis as we have stayed in Alvor for many years and there are so many lovely restaurants to choose from in the village you are spoilt for choice. The breakfast choices was amazing plenty to choose from we found from 7.30 until 9 was a good time for us ( we are early birds) to eat as after this time was busy. This is our first time staying at this hotel and we will be back. The wonderful bar staff in the evening were very entertaining just watching them making the different cocktails very professional, although again some people are always in a hurry ! Why you are on holiday sit back and relax and wait just a little while for your drink to be made and served to you at your table I don’t think that’s a problem.Not sure why there is a few negative reviews please do not be put off by these it’s a wonderful hotel in a prime position although there is a few steps down to the beach there is also a lift so not a problem.

All rooms on 6th floor have full sea views.
As far as I can remember, it's just smart but no beach wear. Don't believe it's strict though
