Alvorférias Club, often recognized for its budget-friendly appeal, delivers a mix of opinions among guests. While the hotel's location is praised for its closeness to the town and beach, some feel it's slightly removed from key attractions. Travelers report rooms that are spacious yet basic and in need of updates and better maintenance.
Cleanliness receives mixed reviews, as do the amenities, with the pool area standing out positively. Despite positive feedback about friendly staff, the service inconsistencies and a lack of atmosphere are areas guests believe could be enhanced.

It’s hard to rate. Some elements are 1 some are 5 so here we go.
Isn't it annoying when you’re on holiday and the maid keeps knocking on the door?? Not here as they only come once a week, make the bed, hang up the towels and leave!!
It was clean but very dated, the towels were as thin as the loo roll (which is also rationed). We had read previous reviews and knew this so took some extra towels and bought loo rolls when we arrived.
We didn’t use the kitchen at all, just the bed and bathroom. The bed was really firm and became uncomfortable but we slept ok.
Great location, 10 mins walk to town and 15 to beach, staff were fine, pool was ok (beds were uncomfortable but again ok). We only went to the pool for a few hours twice as we went to the beach. It was pretty quiet but I imagine that in the summer it would be packed as it’s small compared to the complex size.
I personally wouldn’t stay here again, I like a bargain and this is one but too rustic for us. If you can afford a bit more go elsewhere but if you can’t or just want a base it’s fine.
To the hotel - charge an extra few euros per person and swap the towels more often and provide extra loo paper.

Great location, spacious accommodation and never felt overcrowded. Our 2 bedroom apartment had two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living/ dining area, a spacious kitchen and a balcony. It was older fashioned than some accommodation- but we quite liked it! And we loved the space. The site itself was not too busy- we enjoyed both pools, the pool bar and some of the evening entertainment. The site is split over two sites, accessed by a footbridge. A minor inconvenience but nothing to worry over. There was an onsite shop that stocked essentials, and a small supermarket just 7 mins away! Points to be aware of: We couldn’t get in rooms until 4 on arrival day. I NEVER saw an exception to this. Bedding is changed weekly, whilst new towels and toilet rolls are provided on 3 named days . We never encountered a beach/ town shuttle.

We came with expectations of the apartments being a derelict cesspit of grime… but we were very pleasantly surprised. The lady on reception was helpful, we stored our luggage and headed out to the pool for a few hours before checkin, we prepared a bag prior to coming with swimwear, towels, sun cream and books etc, even brought our own fold out sun beds, we read the reviews of no sun beds and dirty pools… to an extent this is true. We didn’t see anyone queuing but people would place towels on their beds then go get breakfast, we didn’t see anything wrong with this at all as they all then went to their beds for the day. In the afternoon there are always beds spare and people offering their beds to you if they are leaving. The pool is clean and large enough for everyone, inflatables allowed. Jasmine, honeysuckle and avocado trees surround the pool and in the evening the smell is amazing. We had a 2 bed apartment over the shop, it was huge! 2 huge bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and large bathroom. We had our room cleaned 3 times in 10 days with fresh towels, if you want your bed changed just take off your sheets and put them by the door. There were lots of ants but this was our fault for having food out! Some cleaning and salt soon sorted that out. There is a cockerel in a farm across the way, this little sod will wake you up at 4am if you are sleeping poolside, by morning 8 it was driving me insane but no fault of the hotels of course. The hotel doesn’t have entertainment, we didn’t care about this, they did offer lots of excursions. We did a cave tour, a boat tour to Silves, splash and slide and a few trips to Portimao (the main town) we got Ubers everywhere, they are cheap and easy. The beach is stunning, all of them, Sandy and gorgeous clear seas. Our daughter did get stung by a spider fish, this is very common so bring water shoes!! The locals do! These apartments are rough and ready, for the price they are spot on, if you want luxury then there is a 5 star across the road. Go prepared, accept you booked a cheap 3 star and have a good time in the amazing Portuguese sun.

If you want loud live entertainment 9pm-11pm which can be heard from your room, happy to battle to reserve sunbeds and beers, cheap tasting food by the pool, this is the place for you. But it wasn't the place for us.
Firstly we arrived at 2pm at reception and the manage at the desk was very blunt and unfriendly. We were not able to check in until 4pm and not a minute earlier. Our room was directly above reception opposite the pool (and live evening entertainment). The pool was nice but people queued at 9am to reserve a sunbed (which wasn't allowed but still happened). The staff at the poolside bar were again very unfriendly and unhelpful.
The room itself was clean but these were the problems we had with it: Fridge leaked on the first day No matches to light hobs No cooking trays (we went self catered) Front door doesn't lock from inside (unsafe with toddlers) No blind/curtain over kitchen balcony door (everyone walk past, look into opposite apartment). Broken bathroom shelf No drain plug for the bath or kitchen sink Have to pay for hair dryer daily and a high chair.
The loud entertainment was too much for our toddler to be able to sleep so we asked if anything could be done. We were told very bluntly no, end of conversation. Thankfully we booked through Jet2 and our rep was fantastic and she fought for our room to be changed. When we could finally change we had to pay 50 euro (managed to reduce to 30) for cleaning charge. We packed, got new keys, unloaded car, and the keys didn't work.
The location of the resort wasn't a problem for us as we had a car. Yes you could do a 20 minute walk to the restaurants but it was along a very busy dual carriageway (not suitable with a toddler).
From this holiday we have learnt to spend a bit more to get a holiday we will actually enjoy!

We booked along with friend's in June 2022 to go to Alvor. We booked with Tui, on the online site it clearly stated that there was evening entertainment and a free shuttle bus to the beach. Neither of these were present. During our two weeks, there was one night of a Barbecue and mini disco at €16 per person. We did not attend.
This was our second visit to Alvor and whilst Alvor has lots to offer, nice beach good food and drinks at reasonable prices. This resort of the AlvorFerias is not our idea of a good holiday. This resort is probably best suited for couples/parents with young children.
We arrived at 11 am on a Sunday morning and were told that we couldn't have our room until 4pm. We were given information which stated clean towels would be provided in your room every 4 days, it was 6 days before the first change of towels. Insufficient supply of toilet rolls, you were lucky to have 1 left on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The beds were uncomfortably hard.
Our first morning Monday, we went to the pool at 8.20am the pool attendant who was cleaning the pool said it was OK for us to come in. Within 2 minutes a woman ( a member of staff) was shouting aggressively at the young pool attendant, she was a good 15 feet away from him and from us, from the tone of her voice and her body language she was telling him off. When she had finished with him she then started shouting at us, holding up her fingers to indicate 9. We left and returned at 8.53 am only to find not 1 bed available.
I made a complaint to the Tui rep about the unprofessional conduct of the staff member who was verbally abusive and the pool rules that clearly were not rigid rules as 8.53 is not 9 no more than 8.20 is. No apology from the staff member.
Pool rules also say no diving, no balls in the pool, no reservation of a sunbed but these were totally not rules at all. Which of course are silly rules in any event when children are playing in water.
In order to get a sunbed you needed to be queuing at the gate from 8.10 am until 9 am so that you stood some chance of getting a bed to lie on. The majority would secure their bed by putting their towels on, then left to go and have their breakfast etc . Clearly insufficient pool sun beds for the amount of guests.
This is not a place that we would recommend and certainly will not return to.

This is a very basic and dated hotel/apartments. It is about 12 mins walk into centre where there are some lovely places to eat and drink. There is a Spar in complex and a cheaper supermarket at the bottom of the hill. As this complex is part residential, there are very ignorant people who think it is ok to set an alarm for work at stupid o'clock through a very loud BOSE speaker and wake the whole building, hence we never got a lie in. Pool area needs a bit TLC and you need to be up early to get a bed. Same as other places, people put towels on beds then head off out for the day. Barely enough hot water for 2 showers at night. We have booked alvor again for next year, just won't be staying here.....

I came with my two grown up daughters as a cheap and cheerful girlie holiday. We wernt expecting luxury and in fairness the room was basic, my eldest daughter had bed settee and myself and youngest had toom with single beds. The town was in walking distance and it came alive in evenings with plenty of resteraunts and karaoke bars. We had a fab time and created some lovely memories. The hotel provided a shuttle bus to the beach, the beach itself was stunning, proper sand and reasonable sunbed prices. The downside of hotel was towels only changed every 4 days, and first day towels were counted as a change - yes really. The entertainment was pretty poor, as my daughter said karaoke night there was more singing from the crickets in the surrounding gardens than from guests. The breakfast was reasonable and kept us going. Toilet roll was very limited and not always replaced on cleaning day, we ended up by our own. The plus side was we were in room above reception so wi fi was good. The 2 porteguse male receptionist were helpful and friendly. The location of hotel was good close to town and my girls felt safe to run and walk away from hotel grounds. In all we had a lovely holiday had a laugh about negative aspects and spent some valuable time together.

Based on our recent stay I’m happy to say this complex is great value for money. Apartment was basic but adequate and everything worked with no problems. Bathroom had a bath and overhead shower with good water pressure and hot water. All staff were helpful, friendly and professional. Pool and surrounding area lovely (beautiful weather helped) and bar restaurant serving reasonably priced drinks, snacks and meals although evening buffet dinner not great value @ €18. Good continental or English breakfast available with British type bacon/sausages/beans. Bar closed early 10.00pm during my stay but may be open later at busier times of year. Really a family type holiday place with no rowdy stag or hen party issues. Location just outside the lovely old town of Alvor with plenty of good bars, restaurants and a beautiful wide sandy beach.

We travelled with our daughter, her partner and an 8 month old baby. We were in a nice quiet spot in the resort. The apartment was large, two bedrooms with air con in the lounge/diner only. We feel that some of the negative reviews are a little harsh. It is a 3 star resort after all. We found the staff to be largely helpful. Only things I feel they could improve quite easily is to replace the broken sun beds around the pool, change towels more regularly (we had one complete change in 10 days), and more toilet rolls - this was a definite issue and we had to go to reception to request extra 4 times during our stay. The rooms were cleaned approximately every other day with only one WC roll added each time. With 4 adults - that is not enough for average use. We understand that some of the apartments have been renovated. We had one of the ’old style’ ones. A little tired but it was very clean when we arrived. It was incredibly hot when we were there so walking to the beach/town wasn’t realistic with a baby but we had a car so we drove. There are two pool areas and we used one a couple of times and it was fine if you don’t necessarily need a sun bed. We wouldn’t advise against staying there but be realistic with your expectations.

Initially I was concerned based on reviews I’ve seen. But the top floor apartment we were assigned was clean, spacious, and had decent views. Despite the difficulty in carrying our suitcases up, the proximity to the reception was convenient. The air conditioning was effective and the water pressure in the shower was good, with hot water always available. The staff were helpful and polite, especially the Spanish man at the bar who always had a smile. The pool was a bit cold, but considering it was only May, it was expected. Contrary to reviews, the walk to the beach and Alvor was easy and pleasant, with plenty of restaurants nearby. The uphill walk back was not as challenging as anticipated. If you’ve got this hotel booked, please DON’T worry!
