Was looking for a villa with private pool in the Algarve that did not cost a fortune for a couple of nights in late June. My opinion was - and still is - that resorts are better equipped to disinfect and cleanse than private rentals, so this seemed a great option. To my surprise the villa was not only dirty, it seemed abandoned, the patio chairs and tables were filthy. That was quickly solved and we were upgraded to a better and much cleaner villa in no time. Had a great time there, but was not impressed with Pestana, this cannot happen during a pandemic. The villa itself was nice, a bit outdated but the garden and the pool were fabulous. Very nice resort to stroll around even if you are not a golfer, and a 5 minutes drive to Carvoeiro.

Have just returned from Gramacho Residences as part of a group of 10. The three courses we chose, Pinta, Vila Sol and Gramacho were in superb condition. Vila Sol was the toughest of the three, tree lined but very enjoyable. Buggies each are 45 euros. There is a shuttle service from Gramacho Residences to Pinta and Gramacho; the clubhouse at all three courses are very relaxed, serving good beers and food which are reasonably priced. You can pre pay for a buffet breakfast, taken at the Gramacho clubhouse from the Residences reception for a discounted 9 euros per day and a 3 course evening meal for just 20 euros, excellent value and great choices. Accommodation at Gramacho Residences well equipped and perfect for a short break, close to Carvoiero, which is great for a night out.

Three of us stayed at Pestana Residence. Pros. - The apartment was exceptional. Spotlessly clean. Very affordable accommodation. Unlimited golf.
Cons. - No restaurant. No bar Extortionate cost of buggies. Poor class of buggies for price. Must pay for trolleys per round not Per day ie. two rounds of unlimited Golf you pay twice for trolleys. Given the above costs it makes golf In Portugal much more expensive Than Spain for similar standards of Courses.
Summary. - superb weather, golf and accommodation. Enjoyment tempered by hidden costs of buggies and trolleys. Be sure to check for trolley costs before you book.

Course seriously over booked. You can’t book a buggy until 20 minutes before your tee time, so basically, you book a holiday to play on their course and getting a buggy in 25 degree heat is a lottery. Girls in the pro shop dealing with the buggy allocation VERY rude. Buggy man at the front entrance VERY rude. Save your money and a 5 plus hour round on a packed, average course.

We booked 3 villas with pools well over 2 years ago This was to be a big family holiday for important milestone birthdays. When we arrived in June we were told 2 of our villas had 'plumbing issues' but said they have other villas for us. Well one was a 1st floor apartment with a broken cooker and lots of ants and the other was a duplex apartment which was filthy! It had a hot tub but had stagnant water and worms in!! PLUS we had no private pools. The beds were like concrete too. When we complained the staff were more interested in going home as it was their finishing time. The staff at this resort were the most unhelpful. We ended up hiring a private villa off site as we really could not stay in these conditions and Pestana were 'unable' to move us. One of our families were given their correct villa but this then meant that we had to spend a lot of time apart which is not what we wanted on a big family holiday
When we asked which villas had the plumbing issues they could not tell us and also said it was because we booked so long ago! Surely as we booked so far in advance our villas should have been reserved! Never again would I even consider staying at the golf resort in Portugal

We have been on golfing holidays across Portugal for the past 8 years. 8 different resorts, and this place stands out the most. Pestana decides to charge extortionate prices for everything, stealth charges for buggies, and the staff are simply there enforce rules. Zero effort to actually try and cater for and accommodate visitors. Just horrendous service, it’s indescribable how bad the staff have been. A massive do not attend to anyone.

The place does not have air conditioning which is not acceptable in a country where Summer temperatures easily go over 35°C. It has fans in the ceiling where one does not work. The piece that keeps the shower handle in the wall is broken. The mosquito nets in the windows are also broken. Too expensive for the condition I found it. The pool is clean and nice.

Nice place but unfortunately customer service is non existent. Maintenance issues happen, we all understand that but when the lady you phone to speak to to ask someone to come and deal with it politely after having reported it 12 hours prior days to you “that’s life and hangs up on you”!
Air conditioning not working. Dealt with it on the first night. But after two nights of it and no one bothering to come over and take a look after reporting it on a number of occasions, patience is wearing thin.
There are a number of phone numbers you are given to call for a shuttle and customer service - rarely seems to be anyone answering.
Never experienced such a lack of customer service anywhere.

Sadly, Pestana have let this course go from being included in the qualifying for the European Tour to a happy hackers course. They have now raised their prices without improving the course. The clubhouse is beautiful but food is sub standard and over priced. The beers are the most expensive in the area and the worst in taste! Coffee is still good but I still don’t know how can screw up on the beer!

There is a small supermarket at the entrance of Gramacho however like the Uk smaller means more expensive so I wouldn't recommend doing weekly shop there. We used it for extra milk etc. There is a Aldi and Intercontinental less than 10 minutes away. You will see these signposted as you drive through Lagoa. Would recommend Gramacho Clubhouse for a nice evening meal. Excellent service!

I think it would only be the accommodation but you can double check. There are lots of great deals about. We went in December and paid ÂŁ150 for unlimited golf and accommodation for 3 nights. In January i saw deals as low as ÂŁ120 including the golf
There are more places to choose from in the Estombar area.
