I stayed at Smith Rocks Chalet on Aug. 15 and 18, 2023. I had originally booked this place because my elderly mother cannot stand traveling more than 4 hours in a car at the time. This was sort of a half way point for us as we were staying the rest of our trip in Cape Breton. Sandy and his sister are real nice hosts however I did find a few things wrong with the accomodations. We stayed in the sam room both times we were there.
For one the room was very dusty and whoever cleans the room just does a quick job and doesn't take the time to do a thoroughal cleaning. The floors were even dirty. The blind in the room was ripped and needed to be repalced. It mentioned that there was an ironing board in the room, however there was none to be found. In the bathroom was a garbage can made out of wicker that was all torn to threads and should of been thrown in the garbage.
As my mother was traveleing with me and my sister, and my mother being older there was no provision for her such as grab bars in the tube and by the toilet.
I brought these concerns to the maintence man as he was helping with the cleaning the first day that we checked out. I expected these concerns to be addressed and corrected before I checked in on our way back from Cape Breton but were never adressed.
The only thing that was provided was a night light, as I asked to have one as the place was dark when you turned off the lights and my elderly mother has to get up to go to the bathroom quite frequently in the night.

Smith Rock is absolutely beautiful. The drive up to the chalets you instantly start to relax. Upon arrival the staff were kind and very accomodating asking if there was anything they could do for our wedding the next day. This instantly created a relaxed feeling that carried throughout the next day. We were supposed to get married outside however mother nature had other plans. The staff opened the doors to an absolutely beautiful space inside without hesitation offered to set up anything we needed or rearrange anything that we wanted. They gave us privacy and ensured we would not be interrupted. The property provided us with ample opportunity for pictures that were absolutely beautiful.
The chalets were perfect and the view is stunning!! Very clean and cozy.
We cannot wait to return year after year to relax and explore the hiking and biking trails located on the property.
Thank you Smith Rock staff for helping make our special day a memorable one!

The place is well off the main Scotsburn Road and not very well signposted but we made it up to the top. We had a one bedroom Chalet but, looking back, could have taken the cheaper single room in the Lodge. We didn’t see this option when we booked. As it’s quite a distance from anywhere, we had brought enough food to see us through the stay and ate in. There are plenty of pots, pans, plates and crockery to use. The building is relatively old and was quite hot all the time. Apart from roof fans, there wasn’t much in the way of cooling.
The views down to Pictou and the bay are worth the trip up and there’s plenty of chairs to use to watch. The hot tub is a relief after a day travelling.

My husband and I booked 2 nights on the BOGO deal. We were cancelled a few weeks later due to the road washing out. We rebooked for the long weekend in May. My husband booked time off work and we prepared for 2 relaxing nights away. Excited because it was the same chalet we stayed in for our honeymoon 20 years ago. My husband and I both have chronic illness and looked forward to enjoying the hot tub. We even called ahead and we were told we just had to book a time. Get there to find out they expect us to pay $263 to be confined to our cabin. No hot tub or pool! Covid restrictions. A phone call would have been nice. We turned around and came right back home. Thank you so much for ruining our weekend away. A little honesty and consideration can go a long way. I noticed on your April 15th Facebook post on your page you spoke about the hot tub being open. You could have even updated there to let us know it was closed. Unbelievably poor customer service. If I could give you a negative rating I would!!!

The chalet was clean. The bed was lumpy and hard. Very little water pressure in the shower and the water was just warm. The towels were old, thin and felt like cardboard. Ants everywhere and one tiny ant trap. We were attending a wedding and had to stay. I went to the office at checkout (where I met up with two other couples that were also there to voice their complaints). The owner didn’t not seem too overly concerned. I expected an apology at most and possibly a reduced rate it we wanted to return but received nothing. I told her I just paid $638 for 2 nights to stay here. I could have gone to a 3rd rate all inclusive resort in Cuba for a week for $200.00 more. She smiled. We will never recommend this place to anyone.

What a true hidden gem! Our family rented 3 chalets for Thanksgiving weekend. Were from Nova Scotia but never knew about this place. The views from our Chalet (#6) were incredible! Looking out over Pictou County towards the Northumberland Straight. The view off the other side of the mountain is also breathtaking. The chalet was clean and comfortable. We were happy to see they even provided some utensils and cookware. The chalets include a fireplace (stove) and wood which made our stay very cozy. Great internet speed. Comfortable bed. The hot tub was a perfect temperature.
We had requested a crib for our 7 month old son but it wasn't in the chalet when we arrived. They were very apologetic and had the crib delivered to us within minutes.
The staff we encountered were nothing but friendly and polite.
We will be back!

I recently stayed in a chalet here with my family and our dog. We had an awesome time. We enjoyed the views, the pool, the hot tub and volley ball court the most! The chalet was very well taken care of and was well equipped with everything we needed (bbq, playing cards, utensils, free wifi, good soap lol). I would highly recommend this place!

We stayed in the 3 bedroom chalet for 1 night in January.

We had previously stayed at the property when it was Stonehame Chalets and enjoyed it then as well. The new owners have done a lot of work to the main lodge. There is a large bar area on the main floor of the lodge and what used to be a screened in porch area has been glassed in. A lot of the furnishings in our chalet have been updated as well.

The chalet was well equipped, with a full kitchen (no dishwasher), cutlery, glasses, plates, cooking utensils etc. There was also a BBQ.

The weather was perfect when we were there, so we went snowshoeing on some of the trails on the property.

A perfect spot for a getaway, we will definitely return!

Me and my husband visiting Smith Rock Lodge & Chalets at least 4 times a year. Most the time when it is wintery outside. Great little chalet with fireplace, very warm and cozy. Also they have a hot tub, lovely on cool evenings to sit in it with glass of wine and look at beautiful sky.
Never been there at summer time, but sure it is as lovely as at winter.

Yes there is, and New Glasgow is not far at all, also nearby grocery store. Smithrock Chalets also cater to large groups if arranged before hand.
