Planned this trip for a couple of months while looking for a place that had private plunge pools and a nice shared infinity pool. We also looked for a place that had a broad menu, so that we wouldn't get tired of eating at the restaurant since we stayed here for seven nights. #1 - Staff are great - friendly and accommodating of any requests. #2 Rooms and public spaces are clean and well-maintained. Though the private plunge pool and rooms are not quite as large or private as Jade Mountain (great resort), the overall experience was better particularly due to the cooking of the chef's team and the friendliness of the staff. Possible recommendations - go to the Chameleon Asada dinner (good variety and large quantities of meat), in-room massages were great, definitely worth it to go down and visit Las Catalinas even with the large ex-pat presence, and the coffee co-op tour was very interesting. If you're like my wife and I, get the car transfer from LIR - we chuckled as we headed back to the airport as many cars were backed up on the road due to having to drive through a not insignificant stream. Remember to bring your health check QR code and returning flight information to get through immigration. Final note - it may have just worked out for us, but going at the end of the rainy season definitely seemed to make it less crowded, and it only rained for say 30-90 minutes a day - towards the end of the trip, we both noticed that it was getting a little more packed. Great experience - would do again.

We stayed here for four nights. This place is absolutely beautiful and romantic in every way. We stayed in room 6 on sunset side. The room and view are breath taking. The staff are amazing and very helpful. The staff helped my husband plan a romantic surprise for me. The hotel sits up on a hill that has the best views there are. The beaches are right below, you don't have to worry about walking to them, the hotel offers a complimentary golf cart ride to the beach and town. The town security can call the hotel for you to pickup or you can contact them via the "what's up" app. If we ever encountered any problems with our room it was addressed right away and no inconvenience to us or what we had planned for the day. We spent a good bit of time in our room as it was that amazing , we enjoyed the sunsets from our plunge pool with bottles of champagne. It is our personal opinion that there is no need to do the catamaran tour as you have the view right from your room (you can actually see the catamarans parked right outside of the hotel on the ocean). The restaurant on-site is great. Every dish we had was amazing. We also had breakfast included in our package and I can rave enough about our dishes. We will absolutely come back here and recommend this hotel. We are leaving from this beautiful place today to head into the rain forest for four nights. We are so sad to leave as we truly have loved every minute of our stay here. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable and me memorable.

This is an absolutely amazing hotel and though $$$, it is straight value for the experience you get. What blew me away the most though was how personal and intimate our stay seemed - everyone knows you by name, greets you in the morning during breakfast, is available for any need throughout the day, really sort of felt like family in an odd way. There's even a personal golf cart to take you in/out of town so you don't have to hike the large hill back later. On our last night, we just mentioned to one of the guys that our flight was super early the next day and that we were sad to leave - without asking, he then helped us coordinate an early take away breakfast so that we wouldn't be hungry since we were missing the included breakfast that started at 7 and coordinated luggage pick up for us! What service! The views... you see the pictures... it is even more mind blowing in real life. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. But the food - MY GOD! We signed up for the chef's dinner (Tues and Fri nights) and I literally said to the chef that I had never tasted meat like this in my life. It was quite the experience and turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to CR. I am not the kind of person who writes reviews. But I felt we owed it to the staff at Casa Chameleon for their incredible hard work and service. You will not be disappointed with your stay here. Just double check that it's at Las Catalinas and not the Mal Pais location (accidentally booked the wrong one and they were still able to accomodate us last minute so that we didn't have to drive another 5 hours to the other location!!) Lastly, their COVID precautions are stellar, you get a personal bag of masks and and sanitizer in your room, and every staff member is always masked indoors or outdoors. I felt incredibly safe. Thank you for an amazing stay!!!
