Stopped for a night before chimp trekking at Budongo (15 minute drive into park from Boomu). Simple mud huts in lovely garden setting. Extensive dinner of local food. Enroute we dropped into Ziwa Rhino sanctuary and Masindi(our other options to overnight) and were very glad we chose Boomu

Excellent African food, friendly host and a good location just outside the gate of the national park. The budget traveler can leave Kampala in the morning, visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and then spend the night here. In the morning you pay the fee and enter the park. After seeing the attractions inside Murchinson Falls NP during the day, you come...

STayed here after 2 nights in Murch falls and was pleasantly suprised. The service is simply but friendly and the rooms are pretty good for the price you pay. OK there was a small leak in the roof and a dead mouse under our bed but we were used to dealing with hippo's grazing next to our tent. Simply and...

Edna and her grandchildren make fantastic hosts and her local food cooking on her charcoal stove was the best village food we've had anywhere. Her garlic sauce topped it off. While it is basically a village style place, the band's have good beds and mozzie nets. The grass roofs are cool and authentic and the area is shrouded in weaver...

Edna is the proprietor of the Boomu Women’s Group. Her lodging, a cluster of traditional bandas, is located a half hour from Masindi on the road to Murchison Falls National Park, about a hundred meters from the park entrance on the left hand side. If you go, you are in for a treat… For so many reasons. Number one is...

Friendly, clean and unpretentious, Boomu offers traditional bandas and Ugandan food at very good prices. Located just outside the park gates and costing far less than anything in the park, Boomu offers a bit of real Uganda and helps the local women's group too.

We were impressed with the value for money the Boomu Womans group offered. Clean, tidy, nicely appointed bandas with clean shared bathroom. Great evening meal of local food. Excellent friendly staff. A good affordable accommodation just outside the park gate. All proceeds go to the local school.

Right at the entrance to the park, this is a brilliant location run by amazing people. You have power, water, western toilets and wonderful food. Spend the night with Edna and not only immerse yourself in the real culture but in doing so support a local primary school.
