We stayed at El Tucan hostel on Friday (it may be called Coati, see poster on inside of the bedroom doors) and my boyfriend was savaged by bed bugs (40+ bites) and I received several bites also. In the middle of the night we found the bugs chasing around the sheets. Hence why the hostel has plastic over the mattresses....

We where three girls staying here, we got a private room for same price as a dorm, the breakfast was okey noting special but the kitchen close at 9pm so really early. Good location and you can book all the tours thru them. The room was cozy, you got thick blankets because it was cold by night. The beds where...

We booked a private rooms with 3 beds for 2 night. In the first night we were only two in the room and in the second night a friend of ours joined in. We made this very clear to the team when we took the room and agreed on a price of $35/night. On the second day, when our friend...

Despite the reviews I read, hotel el tucan provided a good hostel experience. The dorns were full so the owner provided a double (bunkbed) with shared bath at the dorm price. Breakfast is grab and go, which is perfect if you want to get out early - but get there right at 6:30 if you want fruit. There is a...

They is a lot of competition in the span of a few blocks, which keeps the prices low and quality decent for hostels. However, beware that they make a lot of money selling you tours, and can be a bit relentless.

We were given a room that was perfect for three travellers at a discounted rate as there were no dorm rooms left. The room was comfortable and had an attached bathroom which, although it only had cold water in the shower, was very comfortable with enough space. The staff were very patient particularly when I misplaced my passport, and offered...

I stayed 3 nights in a dorm room. The place is cheap and nice, with cool "resting area" includs hammocks and rocking chairs. It has a kitchen, free to use. The stuff is very cool and helpful! The owner is a nice person, always willing to help. You can have all the information about the area and all the attractions...

it was ok. Booking was a painful experience: they don't answer their email and I had to bug them with repeated emails until finally they did. On site, not very reliable either. Room was your expected budget hotel room: sparse but for us clean. It did the job for the 2 nights we were there en route to do conservation...

I stayed here for two nights. The room was clean but very sparse. We did not have hot water in our private shower, although I was under the impression we were supposed to have it. We left our window open for the breeze, which was enough to keep us comfortable in the cool climate, but unfortunately that meant the noise...
