Took a while to find as the town having lots of roadworks done. Wanted a balcony so up on third floor, no lifts but our luggage carried up for us. Parked in side road by hotel. Breakfast not included but they rustled one up for us. Rooms big and roomy, bathroom newly furnished

I was in this hotel early in the season, and found it really average. The owner was a little curt and they didn't really go any extra mile to help with our queries. Room was small but adequate. Breakfast plain dull.

These accommodations have the basic standard for the local European summer traveler. It is a basic room for night sleeping. Family oriented place ... My room could sleep 4 people even though I was one occupant. It has air condition and clean sheets and towels. Do not expect toiletry items. The Hotel has a family style restaurant open for continental breakfast , full lunch, and dinner. For the none European traveler be aware that the town shuts down for lunch time and for an afternoon nap. The location of La Marina is right on the main street where shops are. Just a walk to the Mediterranean . The guests have the use to a sun deck at the beach area. The Hotel manager Marcos is a true Italian welcoming host. Summer rates are high everywhere at Santa Maria. You can walk to the town square and take a bus to the Castle of Castellabate. Panoramic view at sunset of the Silento Coast, A must do. For travel details and tours look up the local travel agency on the main street called Hotel California. They helped me with my return details back to the USA, train & air. Maria Pia was a great help.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Rooms were modern and immaculately clean . The staff were kind and helpful and the owner always a smile and a wave. Food was some of the finest I've ever eaten . 5 stars . The location is central to everything . Private decking area on the beach to sunbathe away in this stunning Italian village . This is not your typical resort full of banging nightlife . It's a stunning part of Italy where you can soak up the ambience and Italian charm . I look forward to my return to La marina a quaint little hotel full of the essence of Italy

Absolutely awful. Surrounded by empty tables full of dirty dishes, food really bad and no service to speak of. One little waiter tried his best but the owner (manager?) had no interest in the diners or doing any work.
No atmosphere and would go here again if I was starving!

Arrived not long after 7.30pm. Ordered a bottle of water ( I had a headache) and a beer for my husband. Water arrived along with 4 rolls. Ordered food. 2 x tagliatelle bolognaise, 1 x spagetti with clams and 1 x grilled chicken breast with chips, plus 1 x rocket and tomato salad. We waited. And waited. The kids aged 7 and 10 were nearly falling asleep by the time the chicken arrived. Must have been a tiny breast of chicken bashed to within an inch of its life, battered in breadcrumbs, it was about 5mm thick. It was served with the chips ordered and nothing else. There was salt and pepper on the table but not other condiments were provided. Rocket salad arrived which I picked at, but it had been doused in salt and the tomatoes were rock hard. My son had nearly finished his meal when the tagliatelli & spagetti arrived, I reckon a good hour after our first arrival. My husbands beer finally arrived. I asked for oil for the salad which was provided. Before we had finished the meal I asked for the bill. By this time my son looked like he was about to burst into tears and was drooping off his seat with exhaustion. We waited, and waited and waited. I asked again. The waiter was directed away from us by the owner, (my Italian good enough to know that he had said we wanted our bill, but was told 'yes yes, but clear this table first') and so it went, with them serving other folk. I was actually about to leave without paying I was getting so angry, when we were finally presented with it. My husband passed it straight to me, whereupon it was snatched out of my hand by the owner before I had had a chance to peruse it and we were rushed to the till to pay. It came to more than I expected but my queries about what things were , were met with silence and confused looks. I'm fairly confident we were overcharged. It took us 2.5 hrs to have a one course meal that an idiot could have made in a fraction of the time and it cost us over 56 euro. The spagetti and clams was extremely average with a meagre amount of clams, the salad virtually inedible, the chicken dish mean and the tagliatelle was ok, but nothing more. I came away feeling very tired and robbed

Compared to the price paid, the services offered were very poor, uncomfortable beds, not pillows but stones, dirty linen upon our access, cleaning was done upon insistence. Cockroaches were walking on the hotel wall. Expired milk at breakfast. Paid parking (from 5 euros of the estimate have gone to 7 euros per day) is not within walking distance of the hotel, and the balance (imposed at check in, no hotelier has ever done such a thing) was not faithful to the estimate made in May as the 3 year old child paid for the stay as an adult. Strongly not recommended

I stayed in this hotel with my family for two days, we paid around €300 per night (very expensive for what it offers!). Unfortunately, the hotel is not well frequented, it does not have a lift, the rooms are small, the water in the shower does not always come out hot, but the most incredible thing is that there are no curtains, so it is impossible to rest in the room, too much light enters in the morning Soon! At night, the room is filled with a blue night light coming from the corridor because the doors have glass, so it was impossible for us to sleep!
After our booking on Booking, the owner contacted me privately, offering me a discount for canceling the reservation on Booking (which is why I couldn't write a review there), and promised me a quadruple room without a bunk bed because I have two small children. , despite this I found the room with a bunk bed made of iron and wobbly so my children both had to sleep in the bottom bed.
The only saving grace for this place is the central location, but I would never go back.
