We wanted to see Madrid over the weekend but found that the prices for hotels were very expensive close to and in the centre. We stayed in Plaza Las Matas as it was on the train line and had received good reviews. We were very pleased we did. The hotel was excellent value for what you get - a very large room, basic but spotless, a mini bar, two very large and comfortable twin beds side by side and a large bathroom.

We were originally given a room to the back of the hotel and that did seem to be a little noisy with the trains going back and forth given the proximity of the train line, so we requested a move to the front of the hotel, which was no problem. We found this room to be nice and quiet and we had three very comfortable nights sleep. Wifi is free and works fairly well all the time, can run a little slow at times, but very manageable. Large flatscreen T.V with some english channels.

There is a supermarket right next door, along with a pizzeria/pasta/cafe, a bakery, a bar/restaurant and a fancier restaurant across the road. So there is enough to keep you in food and wine right on the door step. The hotel itself has a little snack/wrap menu. We asked for advice of another restaurant in the area and we were directed to a pizzeria restaurant about a 10 minute walk away and it was great. Its very popular and very busy, we were asked if we had a booking, but managed to get a table for an hour, so you might be as well to ask the hotel staff to ring ahead for you. They also do takeout pizza but don't deliver. We enjoyed watching the big match (Barcelona/Madrid) that was on that weekend in the local bar/restaurant in the park - again only a 5 -10 min walk away and they serve one of the biggest burgers we've seen - very varied menu (with pictures!) nice food & lovely staff.

It only takes about 30mins to get into Madrid on the train - so if you don't mind staying out of the centre and having the bit of extra travel - we found it excellent value for money and were happy with what was available in the surrounding area. Its functional - not picturesque as such, but local, good value and good food all round in the four bars/restaurants that we went to. So if you spend the day in Madrid, you will find some place to have a bite and a drink when you get back.

When we were trying to find the hotel initially, we made the mistake of getting off at Las Rozas - as this was in the address - so stay on till you actually reach Las Matas. We got the train from Atrocha and the guy in the information desk there was very helpful - if you have just arrived by train, the same ticket will do you for that regional train out - you just have to present it to the ticket desk and they will give you one. When you get out of the train station in Las Matas, the hotel is only a 5 minute walk, same side you get off, to the right as you come out. Could not be easier to access.

If you just want a base for Bed & Breakfast the Plaza is ideal. Just 5 minute walk to the train station and 30 mins later you're in the heart of Madrid, or 20 mtrs to the bus stop and again within 45 mins in the middle of Madrid. With a Zone T travel card we were able to tour most of the area, the exception being Segovia where we had to pay additionally to travel.
What made our stay at the Plaza even better was the wonderful service provided by Cesar on the front desk. He was always willing to advise us and printed itineraries off for our use, nothing was too much trouble. Though Las Matas seemed bereft of somewhere to eat, the bar next door supplied excellent food, maybe an English translation on the menu might help though.
Should we return to the area we wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Plaza again.

Having booked a week's stay in this hotel one would have expected to have been given better window views, instead we were overlooking a real eye sore of goodness what and graffiti and woken each morning with the banging from the kitchen.

Facilities lacking in the hotel were a public bar and tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. Being positioned 40 minutes by train from the city centre, it would have been nice to have been able to relax in a bar in the hotel during the evenings.

Breakfast was good but unless you were one of the first diners each morning clean tables were hard to find as used ones still had other people's dirty dishes left on them.

Small and clean hotel. Rooms mid sized and clean. So far so good.
Dom bars and Restaurants around, not much. The train station is just aside the hotel.
Breakfast is ok/good.
I think would not come again as there are some more nice hotels around.
This one is still ok.

Hotel Las Matas is a clean, comfortable hotel that provides a comfortable bed, good breakfast, and hospitable staff. Hotel is next to a grocery store, German beer garden, and a block from commuter train to Madrid. Train runs every 15 minutes and costs about 3 euro one way. Hotel is also one train stop from Las Rozas outlet shopping and a Carrefour hypermarket. Both Las Rozas outlet shopping centers are within walking distance if you dont mind a 10-20 minut walk. Hotel staff can help find directions and trains to Toledo and othe cities. Just know this hotel has no concierge, no gym, no business center. As long as you are not expecting that level of amenity this hotel is a good option for those willing to be a 20 minute train ride from dowtiwn Madrid.

Checked in very late with a very nice young lady. Room basic but clean. Next to noisy railway, WiFi awful. No plugs beside bed, and some plugs don’t even work. Breakfast limited, poor selection.
But you pay for what you get it was cheap

Stayed here for a 3 night break in Madrid. A bit out of the city but very good rail links and only 25 minutes to Sol station. Rooms very modern and clean with AC and the staff were very friendly and gave us great information. Also nice bar just round the corner. Las Matas is a nice quiet area and the Van Gogh restaurant just up the road had great food.

Booked this hotel through British Airways Vacations. I have nothing but GREAT things to say. We arrived early from our flight from London, and even though check-in time was at 1500 hours, they still accommodated us at 1200. Front desk staff was amazing, parking was a breeze. The area was a small town of Las Rozas, only 20 minutes from Centro de Madrid. There were a few great restaurants within walking distance, and a supermarket right next door. I will definitely stay here again. Great value for the money.

Cheers,

Sean

This hotel is about 20 km from the city central, free underground parking is provided. Room is clean and comfortable, with two separate beds, a long bench, and full bath. Front desk staff is very friendly and helpful.

Supermarket is at the next door, very convenient to get all your daily necessities. Train station is only a few minutes away, very easy to come by public transport.

I stayed here for just one night on a business trip. Excellent location as it’s just a minute walk from the train station entrance.

The room was spotless and neat. No complaints there at all.

The staff were polite and friendly.

My only area of concern was the breakfast which was much more basic than anything I’ve had at any hotel.

I will stop by again when I’m in Las Matas.
