Travellers' Choice
Built in the late 1800’s, the Royal Station Hotel has been a landmark building in the small market town of Carnforth for almost one hundred and fifty years. The hotel has a prominent position on Market Street, directly opposite the historic station, made famous by Oscar-winning director, Sir David Lean’s 1945 film, ‘A Brief Encounter’, considered by many to be one of the most romantic films of all time. Overlooking Warton Crag, the hotel boasts thirteen en-suite bedrooms, ranging from cosy doubles to executive four-posters. The cosy restaurant and quiet bar area offer a selection of traditional, home-cooked dishes, made using local ingredients wherever possible, as well as a wide range of beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. The large bar to the rear of the Royal Station Hotel, ‘The Junction’, is Carnforth’s premier live music venue, with some of the North-West’s leading bands already lined up to play. The ‘Events’ area of the website will be regularly updated with our line-ups, a

We travelled as a group of 13 as we were taking in a charity event walking the Yorkshire 3 peaks. The hotel was a 30 minute drive from out start point but we all wanted somewhere nice to stay. When enquiring with other hotels, we were turned away because of being a group. the Royal Station were more than happy to accommodate us. We had dinner and drinks on both Friday and Saturday night. Food was tasty and served quickly when requested. The staff always had a smile on there face and were more than happy to interact and have a laugh with us. The rooms were spotless, well equipped and had the most comfortable beds and bedding. Great for resting those tired legs. The shower in my room was amazing and the pressure was spot on! If travelling to the area again this would be my go to!

We stayed in a family room and had the best experience ever! During covid the hotel had to be closed but Glen was kind enough to let out a family room to us for a night. We had al the facilities including room service. Glen and David went above and beyond all expectations to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The food was absolutely amazing! Water pressure in the shower and bath was great too! There is no road noise and the beds and pillows were soft and comfortable to sleep in. Dave assisted us on where the best place to park was and due to the hotel not being booked out Glen was able to accommodate a late check out which we really appreciated! Thank you Glen and David for the 5 star service and treating us like family, this is not something you find in a hotel experience in many places!
