Went for dinner after leaving a very noisy pub and decided to stay the night on impulse. Dinner, with friends, was excellent. Good food, well cooked and served by efficient and friendly waiting staff. The hotel is being refurbished and last time we visited over a year ago, the restaurant was full of scaffolding and a collapsed ceiling. Now it...

Stayed here after the original hotel we booked cancelled on us. The hotel does need some modernising, however the welcome and service we received was brilliant. Really friendly and helpful plus a fantastic breakfast made for a great nights stay.

Under the new management of Glenn and Maggs our stay was most pleasant. Rooms although dated ( a refurbishment program is under way ) were clean and beds comfortable, plenty of hot water for the showers . Breakfast and evening meals were good size and well presented. Staff and management were most helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble....

Staying at the hotel for the week while renovations are done on my home. Usually wouldn't review so quick (my first night here) but I have to say the customer service I have received is fab! The owners are very welcoming and Seem happy to be here (not usually the case in most places I have stayed) i have also...

The hotel has very recently been bought by its current owners who have clearly identified a large improvement project is necessary to bring facilities into the 21st century. They are doing this without compromising the comfort of guests whilst the improvements are being undertaken. Certainly the room I stayed in was very comfortable and had all the facilities I would...

I was part of a diving group using Capernwray. We usually use the County just up the road but it was full, but we were pleasantly surprised as it was far from the grotty place we were expecting from some of the other comments on Tripadvisor. It has a way to go yet but the rooms were clean. The shower...

After completing the Yorkshire 3 peaks this was our base for the evening. At first I was a bit apprehensive, the place looked very dated, however we learned that the new owners have good plans for the place which they have already put in place in the breakfast room which was very pleasant. The rooms were clean, comfortable and very...

A group of 11 Boldmere divers stayed here for two nights, & while it looked tired but loved, the amount of restoration and renovation work being carried out, it's going to be a one to "watch". We all love a good moan, well you could if your inclined here, but don't judge a book by its cover on this one,...

The new owners have only been there for 2 weeks. The rooms are clean and there was everything that we needed supplied. The rooms are old fashioned, and the plumbing is a little noisy. However the place is going to have a complete makeover, commencing soon, and any issues will be rectified. The hosts were welcoming and friendly. There was...
