It is difficult to express the amazing time we spent here as it was only for 2 nights and we wished it was for longer! We stayed in the Lambing Bothy which sits away from the main area, in a paddock with chickens and sheep as neighbours. It was a delightful cabin, small and intimate yet we did not feel...

Second visit to the Woodmans hut at the Lazy Duck and we have fallen even further in love with it. It truly feels like our home away from home and we plan on returning every year. Its absolutely bliss to get away from the daily grind and noise of suburban living and working and escape to this truly stunning location....

Yes, thanks for the beers folks, I guess they got polished off gratefully by the Team after a hectic day getting ready for the evening's guest arrivals. In the winter and spring months, neighbour Donnie keeps up to twenty five calving Aberdeen Angus cows on the moor and, as you say, their morning and evening leisurely parade to and from...

My fiancé and I stayed here (in the Duck's Nest) for a couple of nights in late February/early March. Such a cozy relaxing place. Pure tranquility. The wood burning stove was fired up for our arrival, and we were given a concise but comprehensive tour of both the cabin and the grounds. The outdoor shower was fun and incredibly invigorating....

It seems that the combination of a difficult to get out of bed and the invigorating bush shower suited you both just fine. There's something very special, folks tell us, about the blending of contrasts, the frosty air of winter tingling the skin and the crackle and warmth of the hut's woodstove seeping into our whole being. Thanks so much...

Where do I start with a review for this place... I had come across the Lazy Duck trying to find a wooden hut to stay in the Cairngorms. Originally I wanted to book the Ducks Nest but it wasn't available on the days we were there and I'm so glad it wasn't in the end. The Woodman's Hut was exactly...

If we see ten gallon hats around the Lazy Duck folks we'll know its you and dive for cover. What a lovely review and so helpful for others. You're right in that just yards from the main house yet secluded by trees and with that memorable two hundred acre moor stretching towards Cairngorm, you could be just anywhere in the...

I take my wife away for her Birthday every year, and every year I try to take her somewhere different, not just in place but also as an experience. I stumbled across The Lazy Duck doing a Google search last year for unusual places to stay in Scotland. Having now spent a blissful couple of nights here, I can honestly...

So glad you found the opportunity to unwind and re-charge. Lazy Duck has a way of weaving its magic in all sorts of ways and, it seems, you found most of them. We are lucky in having The Cairn Hotel, Carrbridge with its iconic bar and meals not too far away. Gareth there makes sure his guests do well on...

This was our 2nd visit here. The cabin is lovely and warm in a great location but we were disappointed that the standards seem to have slipped somewhat since last year. The pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable, the door curtain was missing, the candles and other various items were in short supply as if the cabin hadn't been restocked...

We are so sorry that you are having such bad luck in your choice of where to stay or eat out in the UK. Of your sixteen TA reviews only one, a fish and chip shop in your part of the world, comes out unscathed. To be quite objective though, you did stay with us in the Woodman's Hut in...

Visited for 3 nights in early Feb and stayed in the Woodsman Hut. We arrived Sunday evening to be greeted my a very welcoming host, I'm pretty sure her name was Nicole/Nicola. Unfortunately when I had arrived I couldn't seem to find my car keys (stupid keyless ignition) so I was a little pre-occupied trying to find them whilst the...

Whew!! what a relief. It might have been a different story had you not found your car keys - you might still be here! Great that, very quickly, all was good for you on the many adventures you had while staying with us at the Woodman's Hut and thanks so much for your kind comment on our really dedicated assistant...

Stayed 3 nights in the woodsman hut, so relaxing! Throughly recommend if you want to "un plug" for a few days, the hut was so comfy, spent a lot of time sitting out watching the stars (even saw a meteorite!) will definitely be back!

Thanks Alex, that's the second meteorite spotted here in a month. You're right; relaxing on the veranda at the Woodman's Hut you could be just anywhere in the wild. Glad you both had a great 3 night stay. David & Team Lazy Duck

This is such a unique place. I just loved it! I stayed in the Duck's Nest. The boxed bed with memory foam mattress was sleeping bliss and to look up at the stars through the skylight . . . even better. The decor is right on point. Having the fire going, reading a book, and relaxing on the squishy sofa...

What a list of winning features you both liked. Thank you so much. Perhaps it's the Scandinavian in us which can make the outdoor shower more bracing than unpleasant when the temperature drops. We have even seen folk come out of the sauna or hot tub and roll in the snow. Now how about that!! though not for everyone admittedly....

We stayed at the Ducks Nest cabin which was very cosy and great fun and a real treat at -5 to -9 degrees outside. Log stove inside and hanging hot shower outside and a great night at the wood fired hot tub. Compost toilets just add to the full eco feel of the place. Staff and owners were very friendly...
