This is such a unique place. I just loved it! I stayed in the Duck's Nest. The boxed bed with memory foam mattress was sleeping bliss and to look up at the stars through the skylight . . . even better. The decor is right on point. Having the fire going, reading a book, and relaxing on the squishy sofa...

We stayed at the Ducks Nest cabin which was very cosy and great fun and a real treat at -5 to -9 degrees outside. Log stove inside and hanging hot shower outside and a great night at the wood fired hot tub. Compost toilets just add to the full eco feel of the place. Staff and owners were very friendly...

Many thanks folks for your generous review. Just so everyone knows, your enjoyment and pleasure around your stay starts with your exchanges with co-manager Jo who looks after all enquiries beautifully. The next of our people up for Awards are housekeepers Kinga, Lucka and Laura, all local 'lassies' who take great pride in having everything ready for you. Lastly you...

We had a lovely time staying here this weekend. We stayed in the lambing bothy - it was charming, cosy and very quiet and had everything we needed. Loved the outside shower even though it was a very chilly weekend! Very refreshing! I have to say that the 10am checkout is a bit early for someone as lazy as me...

Hi Julie Thanks for your wonderful words! We are delighted that you had such a tranquil stay, and so pleased that you loved the hot water outdoor shower. Thanks for your feedback on late check out, too. We do often get asked about this, and we try to be as flexible as our availability and housekeeping commitments allow. Guests departing...

A lovely welcome by owner and staff. The accommodation is very personal and quirky. Not quite sure how the building has passed fire regulations. Fantastic views towards the Cairngorms, peaceful location. We had a great weekend in a fabulous environment

Very good to hear from you and two others of your group that the weekend was a great success. We just love it when friends from all over meet up again here and have fun. Be assured we meet fully all fire precaution requirements and treat this responsibility to guests really seriously. Come again. David & Team Lazy Duck

Had the most amazing experience and wonderful stay at the Woodman's Hut hidden away in the woods at the Lazy Duck. I honestly never wanted to leave this place, it was just magical. We spent the evenings sitting cosy with the woodburner on, stargazing through the skylight from bed and watching the deer in the distance from the veranda with...

I camped here for two nights in the middle of September on the way home from visiting friends. The small size of the campsite appealed to me as I was on my own, but there were other lovely touches, such as the camper's retreat, with tables, chairs and places to store food, and little log circles. I imagine it'd be...

Thanks for your lovely observations and for telling everyone that the Lazy Duck is a safe and welcoming place. Yes, the loo/sink is a wee bit on the small side we agree. Difficult though to know how to better it in the space available. For next season though there will be an additional sink. Hope that helps. David & Team...

If I could give more than a 5, I would. 2 nights in the Woodman's Hut surpassed all our expectations. A thoroughly relaxing time off the grid doing absolutely nothing. The bush shower, peat BBQ, wood fired hot tub, the (albeit quite soft) box bed with sky light, the view, the quiet, the wildlife... We came thoroughly prepared with food...

You are right in that it helps to have prepared mentally to be able to make a success of a short spell of elemental living. You did and you could just be an inspiration to others who are just beginning to realise it is what they need in their lives. What we want and what we need are not always...

First time we've been to the Lazy Duck and it will not be our last. From the word go staff makes you feel welcome and part of the set up. So you have to walk and get a bucket of water to take a bush shower. If that bothers you your sense of adventure needs a tune because it's clearly...

We only stayed for one night but would like to go back for longer. We slept in the dorm but felt like we had the place to ourselves. We had all the amenities at our disposal, including the wood-fired stove and barbecue. The surrounding woods are lovely, populated by deer and surely other species we didn't spot. It's also wonderful...

Good that you had the welcome surprise of the hostel being just for you. You might also have heard the call of the capercaille. They are around in the seventy acre wood right next to us. Come again do. David & Team Lazy Duck

The care and attention that has gone into every aspect of the huts and recreational spaces is wonderful. You are both very kind and a keen observer of what has grown here over the last forty years as well as for centuries before. No five year plan; simply well guided organic growth which is now capable of bringing much pleasure both to you and to others who have the eyes to see. Thank you. David & Team Lazy...
