We stopped over for a night. Clean accommodations, good beds, plenty of towels and linens. Enjoyed an excellent meal from the restaurant, delivered to our room due to Covid-19. Excellent calamari, pizza, and a delicious Indian dish. The perfect place to stay when travelling hwy 17.

Normally love going to the Bears Den with family for dinner and breakfast. Service is normally great, prices are great , food is great. However, My parents came to Deep River for Family day weekend. The waitress consistently spoke in a loud obnoxious, bossy tone and often stood with arms crossed and made minimal eye contact. She was unhelpful and confrontational when asked about confirming a booking with the hotel. She was also defensive, condescending and interrupted often when confronted about her abrupt attitude while serving a table of family. At this point had no problem making uncomfortable confrontational eye contact. Once the issue had defused, her tone change to forced friendliness also to the point uncomfortable, with again arms often crossed and minimal eye contact. Not something you want to deal when having a family dinner with folks you haven’t seen in awhile. Hopefully the Bears Den will seriously consider rectifying this.

A business luncheon with customers. A nice menu selection, good service (a bit slow, but understandable) and good food. Minor complaint, the beef dip was very good, but the au jus was served in a small metal cream dispenser, not something big enough to dip the sandwich.
