The hotel is in a great location for walking (or tramping) and is beautifully decorated with attention to detail. The welcome was warm and the room very comfortable. Unfortunately, we misunderstood that if we did not book the evening meal we could not eat. On returning from a 5 hour walk we were offered no food -not even a small...

Greetings from the Mountain, Thank you for the lovely review. It was our pleasure to host your group this year on their annual outing. I think we had as much fun as your group did in setting up the dining room each night to match the themes. We hope to see you back again soon. Take care, Marion

What more could you ask for. The only lodge in Taranaki NP, with stunning views of the volcano (weather permitting) and close to the start of many hikes. The Swiss chalet style decor wouldn't be to everyone's taste, but we liked it for it's idiosyncratic and characterful style. Our room (7, Alpenblick) had a great balcony with views of Taranaki...

I have to write about this place only in superlatives. First is the location, situated just opposite the Mount Egmont National Park Visitor Center, it is a great base to start all different kinds of tracks. Second, the accommodation is cozy and takes you back to the old times. The staff is extremely friendly and I definitely recommend to book...

Arrived late afternoon to be warmly greeted and shown to our room. What a surprise, it was truly unique. Had a marvellous dinner, superbly presented along with wonderful service. Excellent nights sleep and then a great breakfast. Amazing views of Mt Taranaki and any amount of walks to take, from the beginner to the more seasoned tramper. All of the...

The location of the lodge is very convenient at the start of many hikes and walks and the Swiss/Austrian decor fits the alpine character of the lodge well. The lodge has a nice history which is meticulously kept in photo albums, newspaper articles and old visitor books which can be viewed in the comfy lounge next to the wood burner...

I was fortunate to spend 2 nights at Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge. What a special place to be! The lodge is up from an amazing long mountain road, the lodge itself is overflown with characters, the Swiss alpine setup surprises you no matter where you look, sit and touch. Thanks to the team at Dawson Falls Mountain Lodge, we arrived Sat afternoon to such a warm welcome. The room was very unique (in a good way), went for a walk in the national park which is right at the doorstep, then a delicious meal and off to the comfy beds. Will definitely try and stay there more often .

This unique lodge has the feel of an European mountain lodge - all the furnishings in the rooms were reminiscent of a Swiss lodge I visited as a child. The hosts were outstanding, and the walks magical.
