More joy and laughter than stars up above. Second experience with my gal pal fishing at Kagoagh Lodge. You may arrive rather stressed? If so - - Welcome to a world of beauty/peace/love and harmony. It's all there at your fingertips. And fish??? No guarantees in the fishing world but they are out there !!!! Mother Nature is a fact. Weather is reality. Fishing is a sport. Be prepared for anything. Luck was on our side. Salmon, halibut, lingcod, beautiful smaller rockfish - - caught them all. Two outstanding Captains at the wheel. Hallsee & AA - Scrappie & Nygard bow with thanks. We had a ridiculously fun feeding frenzy at one spot. Coho biting keeping me roaring with delight. True story - - We actually caught a keeper coho first cast, second day in under 5 seconds ! 3 witnesses Assistance at all times should I need it. Responsible, knowledgeable, skilled Captains on duty for us during those two ten hour treks. Michele was there for me too. Fun at it's finest. The food, sweet Gina and staff - - Our road trip was 100 percent perfect. ✨ …
Spent my birthday here and had an amazing time. Gina and Tyler were amazing and greeted us with treats as soon as we arrived. Our seafood dinner was exceptional, and Gina's homemade muffins didn't disappoint. Beautiful and peaceful oceanfront view, especially in the hot tub. The rooms were nice and clean, and I did enjoy the private patio attached to the room. Would definitely love to go back and enjoy this lodge again. Highly recommended.
For first-time fishermen (like me), or for veteran anglers, Kagoagh Lodge will exceed your expectations with home-style hospitality, authentic accommodations and unparalleled fishing. Since I’ve never vacationed at any fishing lodge, let alone one located in the heart of a Canadian rainforest, I’ll share a few additional details on this once-in-a-lifetime (or is it?) holiday. We started our adventure with two nights in Vancouver. Unless you are in a rush, spending a night or two in Victoria or Vancouver to get oriented is a great way to start. Vancouver is very lively in the summer and offers comfortable hotels, fantastic restaurants and ample sight-seeing. We chose to take the BC Ferries from Vancouver to Vancouver Island, then drove roughly four hours north to Kagoagh. Arrival and Accommodations: We arrived in the afternoon and I took a moment to check out the 19 foot whale jaw and chainsaw collection at Coal Harbour’s RCAF Museum. From there, we met a boat from Kagoagh and took a short ride to the lodge for the next three nights. Gina, one of the owners, greeted us warmly and we took the opportunity to relax before dinner. Kagoagh has seven or so rooms and I shared one (“Chum”) with a member of my party. The rooms are super-clean, comfortable and well appointed with an en suite bathroom, television, wifi and a desk. All the rooms face Hecate Cove and look down on the Kagoagh’s extraordinary dock. Downstairs, we found a small bar and comfortable dining area, plus plenty of recreational opportunities like darts, foosball and table tennis. Fishing: Kagoagh’s fishing, and accompanying nature experience, is not to be forgotten. We were up early and on the water by 5:30am. Our boat was Kagoagh’s brand new six person fishing “Cadillac”. The boat was sturdy, comfortable, and ate up the Pacific’s choppy waters with ease. Finding fish is never guaranteed, but our guide and co-owner Ty knew where to look. I caught at or near my limit both days. We fished for lingcod, salmons and halibut. Ty’s expert and patient guidance made for a memorable experience. Enough cannot be said about the natural beauty that surrounds Kagoagh Lodge. From sea otters, to whales, to the beautiful eagle I spotted on the last afternoon, Kagoagh is impressive for its setting as well as its sport. Dining: Lastly, our stay included thoughtfully prepared meals to complete the experience. Gina and her team offered cooked-to-order options for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch on the boat, and delicious dinners to cap off the day. Dinner includes a choice of entrees. Beer and cocktails were also available for a small additional charge. To wrap it all up, Kagoagh can help prepare your fish to take home or, as we required, a local vendor will process, freeze and ship your catch for a fee. We had a special experience from start to finish. As my party exited from Kagoagh’s Bay (Watch)ing the Lodge disappear around the corner of Hecate Cove), we vowed to return someday…very soon. Thank you Ty, Gina and the whole Kagoagh team.…
Trip of a lifetime I can't imagine better hosts ,guides and staff. Thank you for a fantastic experience that can't be beat. Tyler and Gina truly know how to make people feel welcome. The food was excellent.
We recently spent 2 nights and 1/2 fishing at the resort. From the time we arrived until departure Gina and Tyler(owners) as well as all the staff made us feel like royalty. The meals were amazing including the bag lunch for the boat. Our guide Alexa worked hard to help 2 rookies catch the big one. Amber and Brie helped make our stay most enjoyable and we plan to return.
Gina and Tyler went above and beyond to get us fishing on the dates that worked short notice! The lodge is beautiful, our room was perfect, our prepared lunches and dinners were top notch. The best part was the fishing! Non stop action all day. The otters, eagles and whales we saw up close and personal was a bonus. This is a special place for sure. G and T and all the staff made it an awesome experience for us! Including Rambo our token dog when at the lodge. We loved it and will be back! Chris and Cathy.
Three of my friends and I went here for the first time August 4-8th. Due to our hard working fishing guide Thomas we got in some good salmon & halibut fishing. Accommodations and food were very good thanks to Gina and her staff. Planning to return next year.
