Detailed Reviews
Two family's rented the Malson cottage for 3 nights in July 2021. Four adults and five children aged 11 to 15.
We all LOVED the accommodations and the pictures are fairly accurate. The cottage is located right on a river bank and the kids were able to enjoy the river as they rafted down with the current. Water level was just up to their waist at most.
Fire pit outside was awesome as well as outdoor seating on the deck that faced the river. So peaceful and relaxing. The Malson cottage property was also large enough for the kids to play some outdoor games.
Kitchen had everything we needed. Shower pressure was great as well.
Sauna right in the cottage which again the kids loved and took advantage of.
Vaughn the owner, and 89 years young, had a visit with us every morning to check in and see how our vacation was going. Vaughn was very helpful with any questions about the area and if we required any thing in the cottage. Beautiful man and we looked forward to his visits!
Email communications from Dean, Vaughn's son, were quick, and he was helpful answering all the questions we had before our arrival. Very friendly as well!
The only negative comments we all shared was the unfortunate lack of upkeep inside the cottage, just little things but would make a whole lot of difference if taken care of.
We would 100% stay at this property again and recommend this business!

We chose Red Rock Lodges as our venue for our wedding and it was absolutely amazing. The owners were so accommodating and helpful, they were on hand for anything we needed. All the lodges were nice and clean and very spacious for anything we wanted to do. We had the ceremony out front of the Red Rock Lodge and then our reception over at Malson's Place. If you want rustic or elegant, this place can accommodate both. Thanks for everything! - Jamie and Charla

We stayed in Malson Lodge. It was a gorgeous log cabin right on the Miramichi River. Very clean, quiet, and relaxing. We enjoyed tubing on the river and relaxing on the decks. It was a great break from real life.

I refused to stay as the atmosphere was crappy.I arrived and after looking around the site, I decided that I did not want to be there. It was 30 miles from nowhere with extremely poor wi fi and I did not want to be there so I left

Stayed at the Red Rock Campground which is part of the Red Rock Lodges. Campground was clean organized and great to stay at. Sites are $35 a night. Bathrooms have showers with hot and cold water. Bathrooms are clean and tidy. The Muches; were a great bunch of fellas to deal with. No concerns and I would recommend this place to anyone who is going Tubing with Stewart's Tubing; campground and lodge is across the street from Stewart's Tubing so it's an easy walk to and from.

My family books the lodge every year and we're always satisfied! Beautiful location, nice rooms and all of the necessities! It has wifi too! Although at times it can be spotty.
Overall; awesome place to spend time with family and friends. I've even considered booking the lodge for a future business retreat!

We stayed in Malson Place (the bigger lodge) and felt right at home. The place is spacious, warm, and the owner stopped by daily to check on us and ask if we needed more firewood for the fireplace. The place is family run and each lodge is far enough from the next to allow privacy. The property is set directly on the river bank and the water is often low enough you can go walking along the river using a staircase between Malson and (i think) Red Rock to get down. Everything is gorgeous, the views, the lodge, the comfy furniture, the ambiance, the nature. The kitchen is fully stocked with tableware and utensils even a roasting pan, you literally only need to bring food. We had a few problems such as squeaky beds upstairs and the pull out couches have no support under the lower third of the mattress so you can't sit on the foot of the bed. Also the screen rooms on the porch are coming loose and bugs can get in easily, that said our September stay was wonderfully insect free. Of the two bathrooms there is one with a shower and one with a whirlpool tub. The shower is small and tucked into a corner it does just fine, though it can be a pain for larger groups. There is NO phone reception out there, be prepared to use WiFi to get in touch with people over texting/calling. A phone booth is on property and the owner is nice enough to stop by in the event someone calls him to give you a quick emergency message.
This place is entirely worth the stay. Nature lovers will be right at home, luxury seekers will not. My group watched the supermoon lunar eclipse on the 27th while lying in the mostly river bed. Providing the moon is dark (or eclipsed!) there is little light pollution in the area and you can view thousands of faint stars, see another branch of the milky way, and observe faint meteoroids (shooting stars) without a problem.
